CHAPTER 4: THE RED ROOM

Jacob’s POV “The Red Room can’t be explained”, Bryant smirked. “But we can show you what it is”, he added playfully. Soon we were paving our way through dangerously narrow corridors with freezing cold temperatures and surprisingly, being a werewolf was not helping our bodies to warm up which seemed miraculous. “I thought from the name itself that the Red Room would have scorching hot lava or something with an electric chair in the middle of it and they would make us hyperventilate till we broke down”, Michael confessed through chattering teeth. The Alpha boys went into their uncontrollable laughter mode again and shoved us infront of a gigantic glass window. To our amazement we saw the most beautiful and peaceful scenery ahead of us. A crystal blue lake spread wide in its glory with swans and fishes dancing in its soothing calm waters while huge rocks with cherry blossoms all around added to its exquisite beauty. “This is the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen”, I whistled. I was so taken into the beauty of the Red Room that I forgot for a moment that this where the harshest punishment was delivered before Lee exclaimed. “No ! It doesn’t seem right- the way the fishes are jumping out of the water doesn’t seem right”, Lee pointed out. “You got a really smartass friend here”, Bryant smirked at us. “Yeah right !”, Michael and I chuckled thinking about Lee’s failed attempts to impress his nerdy crush at Diamond Ville with his wit. Lee let out a growl and scorned at us to shut up which we did as the next thing surprised us all. We were pushed into the room by strong hands and the doors were locked shut from the outside. Instantly, we fell on our knees due to the wild vibrations and wind that flew past us and contorted our bodies in every direction. The damn place was just a deception to the eyes ! No wonder everyone was afraid to stay in this room for long.  My sensitive ears burned like hell from the piercing sounds that the invisible source of the vibrations made.  I realized that the high force of vibrations was counter balanced on each body but the intensity of the individual forces was too high for us and the fishes to handle. Hence, the soothing deception and torturous punishment to our bodies. When we thought we couldn’t take it anymore, we were pulled back to normalcy. We struggled to get back to our feet but we could only lay on the floor and groan as our bodies still hurt due to the furious attacks in the Red Room. “Wow ! You guys are really strong. You survived full 10 mins in that room !!”, Xander exclaimed in shock. “That’s interesting”, Jace stated with eyebrows knitted together. “You guys went there for the first time and didn’t even choke out once in that room. You only experienced the mild effects !” “Are you guys insane ? What the f**k was that ?”, I puffed. “That’s the Red Room. Asheville does not believe in physical punishments, instead it plays with the power of our minds”, Sage explained. “If we were to keep you there for 10 mins more, you wouldn’t have been able to normalize for 90 days straight.” “But why didn’t they experience the advanced effects”, Bryant did not let the matter go. “What do you mean ? Wasn’t that bad enough ?”, Michael cringed as he tried to get back on his feet. “They said something about mind games but our bodies were still bearing the physical pain. Is this a Vampire spell ?”, Lee asked suddenly. “Bingo ! You keep astonishing us with your presence of mind dude”, Jace exclaimed. “That means a lot coming from you”, Lee sheepishly said as if Jace was his hero. “Stella’s grandmother put a spell in that room to keep the students disciplined and a good thing she did because soon enough the infamously notorious student gang of Diamond Heart Pack came to stir trouble during her time”, Bryant smirked. “Are you talking about the present Alpha and Luna of our pack ?”, I asked bewildered. “Yeah and the Beta, his wife and Stella too”, Sage added. “I got a badass Dad and Alpha it means”, chuckled Lee. “I wonder what the girls are up to; we should get going, the class starts at 10”, I said with concern. “Come, we’ll show you the way. Since, we have the same room then it means we have the exactly same courses and schedule too. C’mon hurry up, we don’t want to be punished for just being late to class”, Sage spoke hurriedly. Maybe being a room monitor was not that easy, I thought.
