Chapter 25 - The Plan

1969 Words
Mike The next day, I woke up with a massive headache. I remember clearly going to the bar and drinking heavily when I saw Alan giving me the cold shoulder and flirting with women. We have had a couple of dates, and he insists he wants the bond. He showed me how much he loved me in private. Publicly is a completely different story that hurts too much to be sober to witness. Gio and Diana are always on cloud nine. He is always attentive, and in his eyes, you can see that nothing matters when she is around. His world stops, and his entire attention belongs to her. That is how a man should behave, not how Alan is behaving. I drank until I lost control of my actions. Then I decided to pay attention and flirted with another guy. We danced around, and I could see his eyes boring on my back. Good, he needs to realize I can also play his game. I excused myself from my dancing partner and went to the bathroom. As soon as I entered the place, Alan rushed behind me and grabbed me forcefully. “Naughty mate… You want me jealous, so here I am…” He said, crashing his lips into mine. I was in heaven. His taste, mixed with the booze I had been drinking, made the entire thing intoxicating. “I don't understand why you have to flirt…” I pouted as soon as he broke the kiss apart. “Because your friends need to think I am straight…” He said, and I sighed, “But they don't care, I am gay, and they accept me for who I am… Why are you so adamant about covering the truth…” I slurred my words, and he sighed, “Look, you need to trust me… I need to inherit my pack, and I need a female partner…” He paused, “And I know exactly who, but you need to be patient…” He pecked my lips, and I felt the most important person in his life, whatever he was planning, was to be with me in the end, so I should trust him. “Are you sure your father won't accept me?” I slurred, and he nodded, caressing my cheek. “I am positive he won't settle for anything less than an Alpha female…” Alan sighed, and I nodded like an obedient puppy. “You should go for Gracie, she is an Alpha female, and an easy catch…” I joked, and he sighed. Somehow, I felt I wouldn't like what he was about to say, “Gracie will not spare the time of a day with me, being her sister's friend… but Susie… I know she has a crush on me… I have known them since we met, and I believe she will comply and believe whatever I tell her…” Alan said, and I gasped. He knows Susie has loved him all this time, and now he wants to use her as a cover-up for our bond. “Let me talk to her…” I said, and he kissed me, melting me in his embrace. “No, she must not know about us… you must promise me not to tell her anything… otherwise, when she speaks to my father, or when I make the proper introductions to the council… he would know.” He explained, and I sighed. I hated the fact that I would have to lie to one of my dearest friends, but on the other hand… I want to be with my mate, and if he is not going for a rejection, I must count my blessings and enjoy the bond. “Just don't make me jealous…” I pouted, and he kissed me again. It was a kiss that sealed every promise, a kiss that sealed our souls and bound them into one. I grunted, damn it! Why in this bloody world did I allow him to trick Susie? I can't let it happen, but what can I do? Reject him, break his heart and mine to protect her? I love her as a sister, but I love my mate deeply. I wish it could be different, but at the same time, we have no other choice. If I had to choose between him or her… blindly, I would always choose him. Despite all the years of friendship, all the ups and downs Susie and I have lived and overcome… Alan is my fated mate, and my soul belongs to him. Alan The next day, I texted Susie. It was time to put my plan in motion. I didn't want to share it with Mike because I knew he was fond of her, but he was acting irrationally, and I was about to lose it with jealousy. He was to see that he was my one and only and that I was doing all this to be with him in the end. “Hey, I missed you yesterday…” I texted, and quickly I saw the three little dots dancing across the top edge of my screen, telling me she was replying to my message. “I know. I could tell it was a good party… Mike arrived wasted,” she replied. “I was wondering if you wanted to go out later… Maybe dinner?” I texted, and the little dots appeared, but it took her a while to answer this time. Certainly, she was typing and erasing her message. “Sure, what do you have in mind?” she replied. It took her too long to type seven words. “A cozy dinner date?” I asked, and then she immediately texted, “You had me at dinner…LOL,” I sighed. Yes, she is biting the hook, and tonight, I will seal the deal and move everything quickly so I can be with Mike faster than expected. “Sounds amazing,” I typed, adding, “I'll pick you up at 7.” “K” was her answer, and I could almost see her doing one of those goofy dances she often does when she is excited or when something exciting happens to her. Now, it was time to wait. I texted Mike, “Love, I can't wait to see you…” He quickly replied, and we agreed to meet in a gay bar with private rooms on the top floor after my dinner date with Susie. With my plan in motion, I made a reservation in a fancy restaurant and waited to pick her up. At seven sharp, I texted her, and she came downstairs. She wore a short black dress; she looked hot, but she was definitely not my type. My type has balls and a d**k. Otherwise, we could have been perfect together. “Thanks for accepting my invite at such short notice…” I said, giving her a charming smile. She blushed, so whatever she had been doing or whoever was asking her out was no competition for me. “You know I will always be there for you…” She bit her lower lip, and I nodded. Oh, she was flirting, and I will go along. This is a simple step closer to being with Mike. I parked in front of a fancy restaurant and rushed out of the car to open her door. I offered her my arm, and she took it. She blushed and bit her lips —two clear signs she was nervous. I mean… I made her anxious, and that was a good sign. “Fancy…” She said, and I nodded, “Only the best for you, darling…” I said in a shy but flirty way. I had to make it official with her before I could take her home and show my father I was doing what he asked of me. That way, my mother would start planning my Alpha ceremony. “Why are you being this formal?” She asked, and I acted shy, “Because tonight is a special night,” I said, and she nodded. The hostess led us to the private table I had requested, and we sat. “This is beautiful, how thoughtful of you…” Susie said, and I nodded. “Well… there is something I need to discuss with you…” I said, and she nodded. “I'm listening…” She muttered, her voice trembling, her hands locked together, waiting for what I was about to confess. I held her hands in mine and looked straight into her eyes. “Susie, we have known each other for a long time, and it took me all this time to realize that you are very special to me.” I paused, here goes the biggest acting gig of my life, and the biggest lie I have ever told. “I have discovered that I am in love with you… I don't know how it happened or when, but the truth is that I can't hide this love for you anymore…” I said, and she gasped. “Alan…” She was about to say something when I interrupted her, “So, would you please… Susie Goldenberg, can you make me the happiest man alive and accept being my girlfriend?” I said, and she looked at me with a surprised expression. I could read many things in her eyes, but I also saw the infatuation she had held for me all these years, and I knew she would not resist. “Alan… I would love to be your girlfriend…” she said, and I jumped out of my chair and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. I could see she was disappointed by the place I had kissed, but I didn't want to rush things with her. After all, I knew I would be her first kiss —that innocent my prey was. “You have no idea how happy you have made me…” I said, and she blushed. “Just don't rush things… you know, this will be my first, and hopefully, my last relationship…” She said, and I smirked. “Of course, darling…” I said, and she blushed. This was a done deal. Now, I have to move forward and take over my pack before I have to marry her. I would rather break her heart before a significant commitment. Otherwise, I will have to marry her, and that will hurt Mike because I am not ready to lose my pack. We finished eating and then held hands as we exited the place. I helped her in my car, and she gave me a shy smile. I drove back to her place, parked this time, and took her to her door. She stood there fidgeting with her keys, and I sighed. If I wanted to make her believe this charade to be true, I would have to kiss her. “Thanks for everything…” She said, and I cupped her cheek. “You are very welcome, girlfriend…” I sighed, and she beamed. “Good night, boyfriend…” she muttered, and I cupped her cheek and leaned forward. Her lips closed on mine, and I tried to think I was kissing Mike. I forced myself to do it… Her lips felt awkward, and she was not really responding to my kiss. I tried until I heard a loud growl. And she jumped away from me. What the f**k? Why is she acting like that? “Bye…” she said, and without saying anything else, she stepped into her place. I squinted my eyebrows and looked over my shoulder to see who had growled, but no one was there. That was such a weird thing to happen. Thankfully, it interrupted the torture of kissing her.
