“Can you stop for a minute? I can't keep up with you.” I begged Sean but he kept on dragging me out of the events hall.
I can already feel the numbness on my legs and my feet from the new high heels I’m wearing. I winced in pain when I took a wrong step and twisted my ankle.
I’m falling! I shut my eyes close expecting to hit face-first on the shining marbled floor but I didn’t.
Sean pulled me up and caught me with his strong arms. I landed on his chest, for the third time today.
“Tsk! You’re still dumb and careless.”
I pushed his chest away from my face before I lose myself again. “I-I’m not! You were dragging me and I’m not used to wearing this!” I shouted at him as I pointed on the stiletto. I sounded defensive, I know but it’s the truth anyway.
“Then why did you wear it? I sent another pair with a two-inch heel, damn it!”
“W-wait? You sent this?”
He didn’t answer. Instead, he went to his knees and took off my shoes. I had to hold on to his shoulder and bite my lips to suppress the pain and that tickling sensation his hands are giving me. When he’s done, he threw the shoes away without care whoever gets hit with it.
“You can’t walk right?”
s**t is he going to carry me? I absentmindedly nodded my head. My heart is already beating too hard on my chest I feel like it’s lumped on my throat. He stood and hook his arms around my waist.
“W-wait…” I try to struggle but it was to no avail. To my horror, he lifted me without effort and slumped me over his shoulder like a sack of rice!
“What are you doing?! Put me down!” I struggled and wriggled but he just ignored me and continue walking to his sports car that’s already parked in front of the entrance.
So much for not making a scene. Everyone’s eyes are already on eyes. I had to cover my face when flashes of camera light started flickering from all around.
s**t! s**t! s**t! This is going to be a big mess!
But Sean didn’t seem to mind at all! When he reached his car, he opened the passenger's side and threw me in. I could only think if I would ever get out of this car in one piece.
I watched as he opens the driver's seat and shut the door close.
When he leaned towards me, I automatically shut my eyes close. I felt his hot breath over my face and I had to swallow hard.
“As much as I want to, I’m not going to kiss you yet Felicity. Now move a little so I can buckle up your seatbelt.”
My eyes opened wide with what he said. He was smirking at me as he pulled the seatbelt and secure it around me.
“I wasn’t thinking that. I-it’s my foot. It’s painful.”
He snorted and went back to his seat then stepped on the gas and drove away.
We remained quiet for the duration of the ride when I noticed that we were taking a different route.
“Sean, this is not the way to my apartment. It's on the last street we passed by.”
“I know.”
“What? Then where are you taking me?” I didn't want to sound hysterical but is he kidnapping me?
“Home.”
“I told you, we already passed by the way to my home.”
He didn’t answer and just drove on.
I sighed in resignation. I may turn to a ball of nerves when Sean is around but I’m not really scared of him. “Okay. I’m tired and I just want to sleep. Please take me home.”
“Then sit back and sleep. We’ll be home soon.”
I looked at him incredulously but decided to just shut up and sit still. It’s not safe to take his attention away from the road and there’s really no point to argue with him. He doesn’t change his mind after all. I closed my eyes and just willed my mind to rest.
Soon after, I heard the door on my side unlock. I didn’t even notice that I already fell asleep during the ride. I was just opening my eyes when I felt my body being lifted up from the seat. On instinct, I wrapped my arms around his next like it was the most natural thing to do. His masculine scent tickled my nose and I press my face closer.
Wait what am I doing? I managed to pull myself away from his enticing scent, against my will.
I opened my eyes and blinked twice when I saw Sean’s gorgeous face staring down at me lovingly.
I must be dreaming…
Yes, it must be that, cause the next time my eyes met his, it was gone. He averted his gaze and stood straight with me on his arms before he kicked his car door shut.
“Where are we?”
“We’re in my Villa.” He answered nonchalantly as he walked inside. I didn’t ask anymore but my eyes roamed around the whole place.
I couldn’t see much with the garden being dimly lighted, but when we entered the door which opened through a motion sensor, my mouth dropped open.
He walked in and I smell the familiar wooden scent. He dropped me to the sofa and I watch his back as he walks to the kitchen.
It was a simple modern box type looking house. Something that you find in magazines and that’s nothing unusual nowadays.
What surprised me is how much it resembles the packhouse from inside.
Everywhere I turn I see something similar, from the sofa, the kitchen the dining area; the furniture is different yet familiar. It felt like… home.
My eyes almost watered reminding me how much I’ve missed the packhouse where I grew up. No matter how painful my memories are I still miss the place more than I thought.
Before I cried though Sean came to me with a cup of tea on one hand and a medicine kit on another.
He placed the cup on the center table before he went to his knees and took my hurt feet.
“I can do it,” I said meekly felling all conscious with each time his fingers touch my skin.
“No. Just sit still and drink the tea. It’ll help ease the pain.” He said without looking at me.
I took the cup and took a sip. The aroma itself made me feel relaxed but the tea can do wonders I know.
“Is this the ginger honey tea Nana used to make for me?" I inquired. I love that tea and I can't help but remember how Nana used to make one for me.
“Yes. She asked me to give you some if ever we meet.” He continued to massage my swollen feet.
“Ouch!” I bit my lips as I felt the sharp pain from where he was pressing.
“Don’t pull your feet away. Just relax.”
“It hurts.” I sobbed not being able to take it anymore. He stopped massaging it and looked at me before he sighed.
“I’ll try to make it less painful.” He gave me a small smile and it did become less painful.
Ugh! My heart! My attention went away from my painful feet to thinking of any sensible reason as to why Sean is being weird.
