Chapter 3- Not a hair out of place

1013 Words
(Eleanor pov) Alpha Richard was mated with his chosen mate and Luna, Luna Margot, she was another piece of work. They had a son, the young future Alpha Benji who was twelve years old and was already as bad as his father. He just loved to torment the staff..particularly the kitchen staff. He was the pickiest eater I have ever met and I was not looking forward to this week. Luna Margot on the other hand was a complete nutcase. Sometimes she would be kind, and other times she would fly off the handle. Like this one time, she spilled hot soup down an omegas chest just for placing her napkin down wrong. You never knew what you would get with her. I swear, she had a few screws loose, and even the Alpha seemed to know that. I honestly think he just put up with her antics because she didn't care what the Alpha did. Even his affairs and multiple mistresses didn't seem to bother her. It was rumored that she had a few of her own as well. Crescent Moon used to be a small pack of only seventy or so people. Once Alpha Richard took over and absorbed it into his own, Blood Moon was now a pack of three hundred at least. A lot of the warriors and higher ranks lived in the surrounding town, which we house Omega rarely saw. The few omegas that did find their fated mates were able to move out of the pack house and get their own small cabins. That was the extent of it though. It was rare these days for Blood Moon omegas to find their mates and lately, a lot of unmated she-wolves have started to disappear. It was rumored that Alpha Richard was auctioning them off to fellow packs. Using the money for himself and to keep the pack afloat..this rumor I hoped was not true. To imagine an Alpha doing that to his own members..how disgusting. I finished pinning my hair up perfectly and stood, flattening out my blue knee-length skirt with my hands. There was another man who lived in our wing of the house and his name was Albert. He was forty-five and ended up taking on the father role for us all. He always made sure each one of us lined up so he could overlook our uniforms and make sure they were acceptable for the alpha. He didn't do this to be a jerk, he did it because he didn't want any of us to get in trouble. The other wings aren't as close as we are. They would fight and have constant drama..but we in the B wing had our s**t together and everyone had each other's backs no matter what. "Okay kids, line it up." Albert boomed. Albert had ginger hair and a trimmed beard, his skin was fair like mine and he was a pretty big guy for an omega. He and Helen had been together for four years now but had not been marked yet. Omegas need special permission to mark one another without the mating bond and honestly, it was rarely approved. So they live like a mated and married couple but just haven't completed the process. Both of them haven't been lucky enough to find their fated mates and to be honest..we all know they probably never will. Why the moon goddess didn't bless them together baffles me..they are perfect for one another. Albert began walking down the line, looking at all six of us as he passed us slowly. "Rachel, fix your collar in the back." He said firmly, continuing on to the next person. Suddenly he stopped abruptly and stared at Lucy's shoes. She had on red heels that stuck out like a sore thumb..how did I not see those earlier? She smiled brightly looking at Albert. "Lucy, why the hell do you have those on?" He asked, just as baffled as the rest of us. She casually brought up her hands, checking her freshly painted nails. Zack and I exchanged a look and it was hard not to burst out laughing. "The Alpha requested I wear them while serving his meals this week." Lucy said matter of fact and Albert let out a long sigh. You could tell he didn't like this at all. Lucy was the first Omega in our group to be one of his mistresses. So this was all new to wing b and it kind of made everyone feel uneasy. "Well..just watch yourself in the kitchen, you don't want to slip and get hurt." He said with a furrowed brow. Lucy just smiled brightly and glanced over at me, giving me a quick wink. I just shook my head and straightened my back, trying not to smile. Finally, Albert got to me and examined my outfit carefully then nodded and walked to Zack, doing the same thing. Zack and I know the routine and we had it down now. "Okay, everyone has their tasks for the week? Let's make it a good one without any complaints or issues please." Albert said, looking directly at me with a raised eyebrow. I gasped, frowning slightly as I pointed to myself. "Me?! You know he is going to complain even if it was the best thing he has ever eaten in his life." I said defensively and Albert shrugged, not arguing with what I said. "Just try not to react..please Eleanor." He pleaded, giving me a stern look and I heard Zack trying to hold in a laugh. I quickly elbowed him in the ribs and glared at him. Lucky for me Albert turned his attention towards him next. "And you, watch out for the Luna. No extra attention other than what is expected, understand me?" Albert asked with a raised eyebrow. "Yes sir." Zack responded quickly, his posture straightening and his eyes glancing toward me with the hint of a smile behind them. The action caused my heart to flutter and look down at my black work shoes. Why was he so cute?
