Chapter four

Mika’s POV   “Dude you’re late!” someone yelled at me as I entered the classroom.  “Well thank you for stating the obvious,” I said while rolling my eyes. “My car decided to bail on me, so I had to walk all the way here.” “Why didn’t you just call me? I could have taken you or something…” Damien said leaning back in his chair.  “I thought you had to drive your sister to school,” I sighed.  “Yeah, well she decided to walk instead,” he snickered.  “In this weather?” I asked with my brow raised. “You sure you didn’t force her to walk?”  “Same thing,” he shrugged. “Totally isn’t but whatever,” I chuckled. “Besides I don’t mind walking.” I decided not to tell Damien that I met a girl on the way. He would bug me with it for the rest of the week and I didn’t really want that and besides, I couldn’t afford to get distracted. Especially not by some girl. I didn’t know what I was thinking about giving her my number like that and I knew that if anyone were to find out, I would be getting one hell of a scolding.  The class had only just begun when my phone buzzed in my pocket.  ‘Hey, thank you for making a rainy day less gloomy. – A’ I know shouldn’t text her back but what the hell. A little fun never hurt anybody right?   Addison’s POV   “So, tell me again what happened,” Gabby urged.  “I already told you. Damien was being an ass like always, so I ended up walking to school and that was where I met Mika, he gave me his number and here we are,” I chuckled.  “Have you texted him yet?” she asked while wiggling her brows.  “No, not yet,” I said. “What?! A cute guy gives you his phone number and you haven’t texted him yet?!” she exclaimed so loudly that half of the people in the hallway turned around and looked at us.  “Gabby!” I scolded. “Not so loud!”  “Sorry,” she snickered.  “No, I haven’t because I honestly don’t know what to say,” I sighed. "You know I'm not good with this and especially not since..." I trailed off.  “Oh my god… Give me that,” she said as she snatched my phone out of my hands.  “No! Gabby no!” I said as I tried to snatch it back.  “There you go,” she smiled satisfied as she looked at my phone.  “Give it to me!” I demanded. “Okay, here,” she smirked.  I looked at the phone and read the message out loud.  ‘Hey, thank you for making a rainy day less gloomy. – A’ “Really?” I huffed after reading it. “This was what you came up with?” “Well, it’s not that easy when I have you jumping up and down next to me, trying to snatch the damn thing out of my hands,” she pointed out. “But it is better than nothing like you would have done if I hadn’t interfered. Now we just have to see if he replies.” “I can’t believe you,” I said as I shook my head.  “Girl shut up. You love me and you wouldn’t know how to exist without me,” she snickered.  “Yeah, yeah whatever,” I laughed. “Come on or we will be late!”  The school day carried on like it always did. Or it almost did. Gabby was on my tails all day long asking me whether or not I had gotten a reply yet and the answer to that was always the same. No. I didn’t know if I should be sad or not, but I figured that it maybe was because he was at school just like I was. Either that or he simply wasn’t as interested in me like he had given out to be.  “So?” she asked after school was finally over.  “Can we talk about something else?” I asked annoyed.  “Still no answer?” she asked with a pout.  “Nope,” I said popping the p. “But it doesn’t matter. I mean maybe he regretted even giving me his number in the first place.” “Or he gave you the wrong one by accident?” she asked trying to make me feel better.  “Or maybe he just regretted it,” I said again. “Gab, this isn’t helping okay. Besides, there will be other guys, right?” “Or maybe…” she began but I cut her off.  “God! Gabby! I love you but will you knock it off already? Jesus,” I sighed annoyed.  “If you could chill for a minute and let me finish my god damn sentence woman, I would have said or maybe it is because he is standing right there,” she said and pointed.  “What?” I asked shocked and followed her finger.  Sure enough, Mika was standing at the edge of the parking lot surrounded by girls.  “What is he doing here?” I questioned.  “Well, my guess would be that he is here to walk you back home, but I could be wrong,” she shrugged. "You know me, im not that bright." “Oh, shut up,” I said as I rolled my eyes. “I’m sorry for snapping at you, okay?” “All forgiven, now go!” she chuckled as she pushed me towards him.  When he noticed me, he waved at me and all the girls around him turned to look at who he was waving at.  “Of course, he is with the princess,” Amanda huffed before she walked away. “Hey, sugar boy!” Amanda turned around and yelled. “If you get bored with her highness, you know where to find me.” “Hi,” I said suddenly feeling a bit shy. “What are you doing here?” I asked.  “Well, I was about to answer your text when class started and when I realized later on that I still hadn’t answered, my phone had died,” he explained. “So, I thought I would come here and hope that you were still in class.” “You walked all the way here, not knowing whether or not I was home already?” I asked in amusement. “Pretty much, but when you put it like that you make me sound kinda stupid,” he snickered. “Totally worth it though if you ask me,” he said and send me his most dashing smile.  “That’s very sweet of you,” I smiled.  “Shall we?” he asked.  “Of course,” I said and turned around to wave goodbye to Gabby who was still standing at the entrance with a smug smile on her face.  “Why do they call you princess and her highness?” he asked after we had left school grounds. “Oh, uhm…” I spoke not really knowing how to put it. “It’s because of who my family is,” I mumbled.  “Oh," he said. "So I assume that it, like your last name, is a thing that I don’t get to about until you know me better right?” he chuckled.  “Right,” I laughed. “Thank you.” “For what?” he asked. “For not pushing it,” I said.  “It’s okay, I assume there is a reason why you don’t want me to know until I know you,” he chuckled. “Most people I know or meet for that matter, only talk to me because of who my dad and brother are. Or my uncles for that matter. My entire family is quite important and very much respected and because of that, I have gotten burned with people in the past,” I admitted. “And I still am.” “So, you are simply being careful?” he said with a nod.  “I’m protecting myself yes,” I smiled halfheartedly. "Something you apparently need to do in this world." “Who in the world hurt you that much?” he asked with a frown. “Oh, sorry. I am crossing the line aren’t I”? “No, you’re not,” I chuckled. “I take that as you trying to get to know me. And the answer to your question is my ex-boyfriend and one of my now former best friends.” “That sounds like quite the drama,” he sighed. “I am sorry.” “It’s okay,” I smiled. “It’s in the past and it’s not something I think about much more,” I shrugged.  We walked for a while longer while talking until we reached the road that led to my house.  “This is me,” I said as I stopped.  “You live in this area?” he asked.  “Yes,” I answered. “I’m afraid so.” “Okay, I will continue that way so I hope you can walk the rest of the way without tripping over your feet,” he said with a smile. “I’ll text you later!” “Okay, thank you for walking with me,” I yelled after him.  “Anytime!” he yelled back before he disappeared.
