Secret Sanctuary and a Moon-Fated Mate?!

822 Words
It was a half-mile walk to their pack’s Recreation Hall and Aurelia’s face was raised as she basked in the warmth of the Sun. When she finally lowered her face from the Sun's heated rays, the Hall started to come into view. After many years of attending celebrations inside the Recreation Hall, Aurelia still venerated at the sight in front of her. The Recreation Hall was 3-stories high, beautifully crafted from natural oak trees which made up the forest around her. The stained-glass windows of the Hall depicted images of the Goddess Gaia, Soul of the Earth, and her granddaughter, The Moon Goddess, Selene. She could smell the musk and woodsy aromas of the Recreation Hall and as she entered through the revolving stained-glass doors, she was greeted by a swarm of Omegas awaiting her instructions. The Omegas were eager to make the Recreation Hall fit for royalty, not only for their Alpha, but because they knew the Royal Storm Riders Pack would be in attendance as well. Aurelia had instructed the Omegas to decorate the Hall in an array of royal purples, shimmering golds, bright greens and stormy blues. She watched in awe as the Recreation Hall was turned into a stunning ballroom fit for royalty. Emerald-encrusted vines were circled around the many wooden columns, which intertwined with golden banners. She viewed the head table and was mesmerized by the shades of royal purple, shining golds, and emerald centerpieces. The natural woods of the Recreation Hall stood in alluring contrast to the array of colors that prismed in the sunlight through the beautifully crafted stained glass. Even the storm-like blues glistened and shone with vibrancy highlighting the walls of the Recreation Hall. Aurelia was impressed with her and the Omegas work, and gave thanks to all those who assisted in turning their Recreation Hall into something out of a fairy tale. She felt a sense of completion as she headed from the Hall to walk to her favorite spot in Whispering Woods. She had been a member of Whispering Woods Pack for 11 years, ever since Demetrius allowed her and her mother asylum. She veered from the smooth stone path to a hidden archway covered by Willow trees, which led to a swaying wooden bridge overlooking a stunning quarry. Aurelia grasped the twine ropes, her hands feeling their familiar bristles, and made her way to the center of the puncheon. This is where Aurelia would come to find peace from her nightmares, watching as the Sun reflected onto the crystal clear waters while warming her skin. She would often find herself speaking aloud to her father here about her life; her accomplishments, fears, and her nightmares. Although she knew her father was gone from this life, somehow this action always made her feel as though he was there, listening attentively with compassion in his eyes. On this visit she once again found herself telling him about her fear of finding her Moon-Fated Mate and a pack she could actually call her own. You see, Aurelia was born under an extremely rare Super Blue Blood Moon. A Moon which is 15% brighter and 30% bigger than a regular full Moon. This Super Moon occurs when the Moon is closest to the Earth and is the second full Moon within one calendar month. The Sun, Earth, and Moon align so as to allow a Blood Moon to take effect, causing the Super Blue Moon to have a red tinge. Because of this, she was never able to receive her own Baptism of Fire due to the fact that the ritual needed to be done under the light of her Auspice Moon. Unfortunately, there hadn’t been a Super Blue Blood Moon since the night she was born. She had recently heard rumors started by the Whispering Woods Pack Elders speaking of a prodigy wolf born under such a Moon and were predicting the rare Moon would take place again during this calendar year. She brushed it off as utter nonsense created by cynical old men. Aurelia, her heart heavy, bowed her head and clasped her hands around the rough ropes of the bridge, said a quiet goodbye to her father, a quick prayer to the Moon Goddess and turned to head back towards the smooth stone paths of her pack lands, leaving her mesmerizing Sanctuary behind her. As Aurelia exited the hidden clearing she inhaled the most intoxicating aroma of crisp cinnamon and autumn musk filling the air. She felt her heartstrings pull and the electricity of the Moon-Fated Mate Bond coursing through her, making the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. She put a hand to her lips as they formed the words “Oh, Goddess!” and realized that her Moon-Fated Mate was near. Fear gripped her body and her heart began to race as she sprinted towards her pack-house careful not to fall over the stone pathways.
