Chapter 5

A day off Roxanne I woke up around 1pm feeling sore and tired. Heavenly scents came from the direction of the kitchen and my stomach grumbled. I got up and stretched before walking to the kitchen. Clarissa was listening to the radio softly and cooking at the same time. I didn't like to listen to the radio, since most of the popular songs they played, we were dancing for it at night. But what played now brought up childhood memories that warmed my heart. Clarissa grinned at me and I grabbed another spoon. We sang together at One Direction's what makes you beautiful. We were still in our PJ's with a messy hair and in our bunny shaped slippers. I bought them when we moved together two years ago. Clarissa was a year younger than I and we became such a close friends that we called each other sisters. She was a wonderful cook and her dream was to open her own restaurant one day. We shook our heads and sang from the top of our lungs. When the song ended we both struggled for air while we chuckled and I grabbed the plates to make the table. Clarissa walked back and stirred the pot again. From the smell she was making one pot chicken with rice. We sat down and she asked. - What happened last night? You came home really late. - the fork stopped in the air and I flashed a smile at her. - I didn't want to wake you up, sorry. - she took another bite and said. - I was in the bathroom when you arrived. So what happened? - I sighed. - I helped for the bartenders to clean up. After that, a drunk jerk cornered me in an alley. - Clarissa gasped. - Are you okay? Did he hurt you? - I shook my head. - I have a slight bruise and I hit my head but I'm fine. - How did you hit your head? - for some reason I didn't want to tell her the truth. Maybe my pride was hurt that Mr Grumpy treated me that way. - I slipped on a piece of ice. - I said and Clarissa seemed to be fine with this answer. - Well... After such a rough night, I think you deserve a beauty day. What do you think? You and I and the spa all day long! - we had a day off but, I couldn't think about anything else than the piled up laundry in the bathroom. She looked at me like a child at the candy ile. I rolled my eyes and lifted my hands up in defeat. - Fine! But let's go to the one in the next town. - Clarissa nodded in agreement. - Don't say another word. If the owner asks us again of we want to pay in nature, I'll prepare his balls for next dinner. - she said with a vicious grin on her face and sharpened the knife with her fork. We quickly finished our lunch and packed everything necessary for the day. When we were ready, we jumped into Clarissa's old Volkswagen . This car was once a cherry red, Volkswagen beetle, Clarissa bought it when she moved to our little town. It was rusty and have seen better days but we both loved it. It was our little bug, and despite its age, the car always took us wherever we needed to be. We turned on the radio and plugged into our USB. I surprised Clarissa with this new car radio for her nineteenth birthday. From the way she looked at it while she turned up the volume I knew that this was the best gift for her. She chose the radio station that played hits from the 80's and 90's. I grinned at her and she winked, finally my jam was in the radio. We turned up the volume while the Rolling stones played and just like in my teenage years I sang from the top of my lungs and played with my finger like my knees were drums. We went to the spa and I couldn't wait to finally be inside a nice, hot tub or a sauna just to get rid of this ice cold weather. We entered, paid our tickets and changed into our bikinis. - Let's start with a massage! - Clarissa said and I shook my head. - They charge a lot of money for it here. - she waved with her hand and scoffed. - Nonsense! We make lots of money every night! - I frowned at her like a mother would. - If I remember well, you are trying to save money for your restaurant and chef school! - she pouted and groaned. - That's true, but sometimes we need to relax and enjoy a little our well deserved money and it's benefits. Like a nice, lava stone massage! Come on! - she chuckled and grabbed my hand pulling me after her. The next moment before I could've protest we were already in a room and a handsome guy closed the door behind us so we could lay down and cover our butts. In about five minutes two man walked in and started to give us massage. Clarissa sighed out loud when the masseur put the hot stones on her back. - This is even better than s*x! - she whispered but the guys heard and they both chuckled. The one who was giving massage to Clarissa said. - It is because you haven't got a good partner. - I lifted my head and saw my friend blush and getting as red as a tomato. But what I also saw, was that the boys were both hot in every way of the word. Clarissa tried to play cool and asked after clearing her throat. -Do you know someone just in case for that experience? - he laughed and I tried to hold back my own laughter. -I know but he is my boyfriend. - he masseur answered and the guy who was giving me a massage said. - Oh darling! Stop it! You are making me blush! - when Clarissa realized that she walked directly into a trap we all laughed and the massage session ended up refreshing our bodies and soul as well. After the massage we soaked ourselves in hot thermal water and had a nice, easy dinner. It was already around eight pm when we left the spa. Due to the winter season, it was already pitch dark and freezing cold when we jumped in Clarissa's car. I tried to warm my hands with exhaling at them and turned to Clarissa. - Can't we just sleep here? Maybe in the sauna... - she shivered and turned on the motor. - I was literally thinking about the same thing. Hopefully Buggie will take us home fast. - she turned on the heat and the car slowly warmed up. - Thanks for the invitation. - I said and she smiled. - Thanks for the dinner. - we had a horrible and f*****g expensive chicken sandwich. - It wasn't the top of culinary. - I mocked her and her eyes opened wide. - I think even Steve would male a better sandwich! - I busted out of laughter and she joined me. Steve was our tiny plant. Okay, honestly he was that kind of grass that you could buy in a ball with a silly face drawn on it. I bought it a year ago. I was fed up with everything and had a really s**t week. I walked in the mall and Steve was the first thing that could make me truly smile, so I bought him. Ever since then, Steve lived in our kitchen window. I'll never forget when I arrived home that day and Clarissa saw it in my hands. "- What is that? - Literally a piece of grass. - He looks like a Steve. - Its Steve then."- I laughed even harder at the memory but our happiness ended when we heard a loud "bang" sound. We shared an uneasy look and Clarissa stopped the car. We got out and our worst nightmare was in front of our eyes. It was a defect. We were at the middle of nowhere and the defect wasn't the biggest problem, but the car slid a bit into a big whole on the road which made almost impossible to change the tire. I grabbed my phone bit there was no signal. - Fantastic. What should we do now? - Clarissa asked and I saw panic forming on her face. - First, don't freak out. - she took a few deep breathes to calm herself down. - Then what? - she asked. - We will try to change the tire, if it won't work we'll try to get help. - Clarissa nodded and we started to work on the car. We were exhausted and I felt desperate but tried my best to keep composed for Clarissa. Suddenly the light of another car illuminated is and I stood up waving my arms in the air in front of the car and screaming. - Stop! Help us please! - the car slowly stopped but I wasn't prepared for who was sitting inside. When they got out I immediately regretted my decision.
