Chapter 6

Encounters Jeremy Thanks to Rico we arrived around eleven am. to the Sunset Pack. From the way their guards and sentinels reacted, they weren't warned about our arrival. We drove onto a large driveway which lead to their Packhouse. Rico whistled while we drove by fountains and many sculptures along the way. -I thought they were a small and poor Pack. - he said and my wolf was growling in my mind. I agreed with him, a year ago this pack was useless indeed. Nicolas is still young and he always got in trouble with other wolves in his teenage years. - Something is shady here. Keep your eyes and ears open. Nicolas is a crazy man and I doubt that he got his wealth in a good way. - Rico nodded and we finally arrived to the Packhouse. It was almost as big as ours, but a lot more fancy. - It seems like they give a lot for the looks.- Rico said and I smiled a bit patting his shoulder. - This is the first sight. Just remember, a woman with too much makeup tries to hide something seriously wrong. It is the same with this luxury. They seem to blind you with beauty just to keep your eyes off of what really goes on. - Rico showed his thumbs up and we stopped at the door. It swung open and a guy, at least five years younger than I walked out in all glory, like he was the wolf king himself. - Oh Dear Alpha Jeremy! I just got announced about your arrival! I'm really sorry that I made you wait. Please come in and be my guest for lunch! - I thanked him briefly the invitation and with Rico in my heels we followed him to a large cantina. Nicolas sat down at the head of the table and we sat on his left side while his Beta, Arnold joined us taking his place at Nicolas' right side. The servants started to bring the food ad we ate slowly. It was such an uncomfortable situation like when a kid tries to tell to his football maniac parents that he wants to dance instead. At the end of the lunch we went to Nicolas' office and Arnold closed the door behind us. We took a seat and I jumped to the point, since this ridiculous play was getting on my nerves. - First of all thanks for the lunch, but we are not here for a friendly visit. A few of your young warriors made a huge mistake when they tried to kidnap young she-wolves from a town still inside my borders. - Nicolas chuckled. - Yeah, don't worry about that too much. - he said and I felt my blood boiling with every word he said. I just wanted to rip off that smuggish smile of his face. - They broke laws Nicolas. I think you don't take this case seriously enough. - he glanced at me and grinned. - They are young and desperate to find their mates. It is a tiny mistake that they made and they paid for it. I think we should leave the past behind. - I stood up and hit the table with my fists so hard that even Rico shivered a bit in fear. - Let's make things clear. If even a single pup ever crosses my border again without my permission or tries to hurt any pack member of mine, I'll kill that wolf, vampire, human whatever creature it's going to be with my own hands! Come on Rico, I've finished here. Hopefully I haven't talked to the walls.- I stood up and rushed out of the room huffing with anger. My wolf was growling and I wanted to turn back to challenge Nicolas and take everything from him. Rico ran after me and he growled as well. - This was so disrespectful... It doesn't matter that he is an Alpha as well, you are older than him, also only your reputation deserves to be respected! And his beta... It is a joke! He couldn't even say a word or look me in the eyes. - I wasn't paying lots of attention at Rico, I just wanted to get in my car and leave this s**t hole! We got my car back and only then, I noticed that the time flew by so fast that it was already 4pm. I groaned in frustration because now we will arrive home so damn late! Rico noticed my discomfort and stepped on the gas grinning at me. - Don't worry Alpha, we will be home soon. - I chuckled ironically. - Yeah, if there won't be any other obstacles. Like human mates, snow storms etc. - the rest of the drive passed uneventfully, we were both deep in our thoughts about the Sunset Pack. Something wasn't fine with them and I hated that the solution seemed to be in front of my nose, yet I didn't see it. While we got closer to the town where my mate lived I felt the pain again. My wolf howled in desperation, he wanted to see her and claim her. I recalled her charming figure and dazzling eyes. The fear in them while she asked for help and the electric sensation I felt near her. That magical scent which my heart craved for. I heard Rico mumble and that brought me back from my thoughts. - What the hell is that? - he asked and I saw a figure waving on the road, in front of our car. The snow started to fall again and I checked my phone, it was minus 15 degrees. - Let's see what is going on. - I said and Rico stopped the car, we both get out. Only then I smelled and saw her. I rolled my eyes and glanced at the sky asking in my mind. -"Are you f*****g kidding with me right?" - Rico walked to Cherry and Carolina. I tucked my hands in the pockets of my jacket and tried my best to avoid eye contact with Carolina. - What happened with you, ladies? - Rico asked with a flirty voice and my wolf snarled a bit because he spoke to our mate as well. This made me even more frustrated. With my wolf we always had a perfect harmony, now, since she appeared, he was against my will when we had a chance to be near her. I glanced at the dancer named Cherry and she blushed at Rico's words. She seemed to be tired and really cold. I couldn't stand to steal a glance at Carolina. I felt that she felt even colder than Cherry, her skin got a bit paler and her beautiful, red lips, had a touch of purple color. Cherry answered the question. - We went to the Spa but on our way back home got a defect. - You couldn't replace the tire? - Rico asked and Cherry shook her head. - We have tried, for hours but the car is stuck in a hole on the road. - I scoffed. - Are you so stupid that you didn't even try to call for help? - that was the end. Carolina stormed in front of me and she put her phone in front of my face so close that it took me a few seconds to focus on the screen. - There is no signal Sherlock! And I would appreciate if you could talk to us in a decent manner or at least with my friend. - the last part she said in a lower voice so I could only hear it. The fire in her eyes and the way she talked to me made me angry and amazed at the same time. She had a really strong temper and a sassy big mouth. I felt horrible when I realized that I'm starting to like her. - We can help you to pull the car out and change the tires. - Rico said and then he looked at me waiting for my permission. I nodded and helped to my friend. Their car was out and with a new tire in a few minutes but when Cherry tried to start it didn't. She seemed to be lost behind the wheel. - Come on Buggie! Don't do this to us now! - she said and Rico smiled at her trying to cover his chuckle with his hand. Cherry noticed it and pouted. Carolina also noticed it and she asked. - What's wrong? You never heard a car having a name? - Rico shook his head. - No, she is just so adorable. - he said. - Like a girl who tries to ride her pony, but the horse doesn't move. - I saw a smile in the corner of Carolina's mouth and Cherry was already laughing in the car. I sighed and walked to the back of our car. I grabbed the cord and attached to Buggie. - What are you doing? - Carolina asked and I said without looking at her. - We can't leave you two here. Sit in our car, we will take you home. - I felt a sudden change in her mood and she said in a low, grateful voice. - Thank you. - she walked to grab her friend and my wolf purred in joy at the thought of being next to our mate in the car. But I crossed his calculations and I sat in Buggie to help Rico take the girls home.
