HANNA'S POV
I locked my eyes with the girl for one second as I weighed the matter.
Maddie had really humiliated me and the only thing I can do is to find a way to leave this place. I cannot stay here any longer. I need to get out.
"How well do you know this orphanage?" I asked her, maintaining eye contact.
"Well, I have been here all my life. I know the orphanage like the back of my hand,"She said confidently and this is what I wanted to hear.
"Well, I guess that the two of us can be good friends then,"I said, stretching my hand to shake hers.
She was startled by my change in mind because I had been mean to her earlier but that is besides the point.
She wanted friendship and that is what I was giving her.
"So, Lily, I want to escape this place. As a friend, please tell me how I can do that,"I told her and she popped her eyes out in surprise.
"Shh….Don't ever say that out loud. If Sister Mercy hears you, she will punish you and make your life a living hell,"Lily warned me but I rolled my eyes.
I was going to leave this place. There is no one who is ever going to stop me. That is a decision that I had made and I was not about to change it. As for sister Mercy, I will make her pay for forcing me to be in this place.
"Come, let us talk somewhere else, somewhere private where no one can hear us," Lily urged and even though I didn't know whether to trust her, I followed her out of the dorms.
I just hope that she is not working under Maddie's instruction and this whole friendship thing is a scam. I just hope that she is honest with me even if I was just using her to escape. I was not about to make friends. I had learnt the hard way when Nick betrayed me yet I treated him as a friend.
We went behind the dorms to a small garden which had several benches.
"Come, sit here,"Lily instructed, tapping an empty space that was beside her.
She was really invested in this friendship thing and I wondered why.
Anyway, since I needed her to execute my plan of leaving this place, I decided not to question her actions.
"So, why do you want to go out there so badly?" She asked me once we were seated. Now she was talking.
"Well, I need to go and get justice for my parents. " I paused when I realised that I was telling her too much about my personal life.
"Your parents? What happened to them?" She asked and since the pain of losing them abruptly was still fresh, tears started cascading down my cheeks.
"Hey, I am so sorry,"She said and wanted to pull me to a hug but I pulled away and wiped my tears.
"I have to get out of this place. Promise me that you will get me out of this place," I practically begged her.
"Honestly Hannah I don't know what to do to help you get out at the moment. You can't sneak out of this place. " She said and I could feel my heart throbbing in my chest. This is unbelievable. I need to go out right away.
"f**k this!" I cursed.
"Hey, stop cursing," Lily warned.
"I have to get out Lily. I really do," I told her.
"Well, it's impossible. This orphanage is guarded. Look at the high walls, how can you manage to climb up to that place. Plus, look at the electric fence at the top. You can't do it Hannah," She said, crushing my heart into tiny little pieces. No, I can't stay here. There must be a way out.
"This place is basically a prison," I mumbled.
"Well it won't be if you become friends with Sister Mercy. If Sister loves you, she will get a billionaire to adopt you and after that you will leave this place. I guess that is the option left in case you want to get out of this place," Lily dropped the bombshell.
"Then I will stay here till I die. You know very well how the sister hates me," I told her.
"Now you have to make her like you," Lily advised.
"Well, I can't. I hate that woman to the core," I told her.
"Do you want to get out of this place or not?" She implored.
