Chapter 11

2053 Words
Tyson’s POV “Son, you need to choose someone. I am ready to retire.” My dad lectured me for the hundredth time. “Dad, you found your beloved and I want that. I don’t understand why you won’t just let me take over while I continue to look for her.” “Because that’s not how it works for us. You have to have your partner in order to take over.” “Than you are going to have to wait because I won’t settle for choosing someone that isn’t supposed to be mine.” “God, you are so stubborn! Go find your beloved. I understand that need. Don’t come back home until you do.” “You mean I am just like you?” “Yes, and I understand why you want that, and I apologize for trying to force your hand on this. I am just ready to take your mom and travel.” “So take her on a vacation and I will take care of things here while you do and once you get back, I will set out looking for my beloved.” “I think I will. We’ll go for two weeks. That should give me enough down time that when I come back, I will give you all the time you need.” “Good. Now go see mom and tell her the good news.” My dad got up and left his office while I sat there thinking about my future beloved. It was something that was so important to me. I had never even had a girlfriend. I saved myself for her. Whoever she is. My parents had the perfect relationship, and it’s because they were each others beloved and I wanted that. I wanted that true love and I wouldn’t settle for anything less. Most of us found our beloveds between eighteen and twenty and here I was twenty-three and still nothing. I would find her. I didn’t care if I had to travel all over the world to find her, I would. “Hey s**t stick, what are you doing?” Damian, my best friend, asked, walking into my dad’s office. He must have seen my dad in the hallway. “My dad wanted to talk to me about taking a beloved so that I could take over the kingdom.” “What did you tell him?” “No. You know that I won’t.” “I don’t know how you do it. You should be out there having fun and girlfriends or something.” “I’m not having this conversation with you again. If you want to be a man w***e by all means, go for it, but I won’t put my future in jeopardy like that.” “Don’t hate on me. Come on, let’s go out tonight?” “I can’t. My parents are leaving in the morning and I will be in charge while they are gone.” “Exactly for the next what week you will be in charge and can’t do anything fun.” “Two weeks and I guess, but I’m not bringing anyone home so don’t even try.” “Good, meet me in two hours. We’re hitting the human bars tonight with Kayden.” “God, you two are horrible together. I swear if you get us into trouble, I am locking you in a cell together for two weeks.” I told him. Kayden was our other best friend. The three of us have been best friends since childhood. I was the sensible one out of the three of us and the other two were a little rowdy, but I knew they always had my back no matter what. He left me alone, sitting in my dad’s office. One day it would be mine. As much as my dad was ready for me to take over, I was OK waiting. Don’t get me wrong, I am excited to take over and be the vampire king, but with the amount of responsibility and stress that came with it, I could wait. I had been preparing my entire life, but if I could put it off for a while, I would. A few hours later, I was dressed and ready to go with Damien and Kayden. I was down waiting in the foyer for them. I heard them pull in and open the front door. They knew they could just walk in here. The only ones that lived here were my parents and our staff. We may run the vampire kingdom, but most lived on their own and did their own thing. We only had to step in if things got out of control. While many vampires lived in the area because of the kingdom, they didn’t live with us. We liked to keep to ourselves and tend to be more private than others. Wolves had packs and lived together and witches had covens and lived together. “Hey s**t stick, you ready?” Damien asked me. “Will you stop calling me that and yes.” “I won’t stop calling you that because I’ve called you that since we were kids.” “Ya, well, just remember my dad is leaving for two weeks and I am in charge. You can spend it in our dungeons.” “You wouldn’t, and you know it.” “Try me!” I told him laughing because he was right. I wouldn’t, but I could threaten all I want. “Damien tells me you are finally ready to get laid, and that we’re going to find you a human.” Kayden told me as we walked out to the car. “That’s a big fat negative. Where is Jordan?” I asked Kayden. Jordan was Kayden’s beloved, and they found each other right after they both turned eighteen. She almost always went with us but occasionally stayed home. “She said she didn’t want to hear you two fight back-and-forth tonight.” Damien started the car up and took off for town. It was about a twenty-minute drive. We could have just ran and it would have taken less time, but we liked to look like humans sometimes. We would drink tonight, but we couldn’t get drunk. Had to have blood in order to do that. We could also eat human food, but it was for show. We didn’t need it to survive. I didn’t care for the taste of it. Most of us that were born a vampire didn’t like the taste of food, but those that were turned did because it was what they were used to. Damien pulled up to Thirsty’s. It was the hottest bar in town right now. It was full of all kinds. Humans who had no clue anything else existed. There were usually wolves and witches here as well. We could all easily smell each other and stayed out of the way of each other. Once in a while we would have issues, but not very often. We walked inside, and the music was blaring, and lights were flashing. People were already grinding on the dance floor and I could smell their sweat and arousal and, of course, alcohol. Kayden found a table, and we sat down, waiting for someone to come over and take our order. Damien sat down, but it didn’t last long. I watched him walk to the dance floor and before he could get there; he had two different girls flock to him. With one on each side, he lead them to the dance floor. “I don’t know how he does it.” I told Kayden. “The girls?” “Ya. I will bet you a hundred dollars that he takes both of them home tonight.” “I’m not taking that bet.” We were both laughing when the waitress came over and took our order. A few minutes later, she came back with our drinks and left us again, but not before looking Kayden over and winking at him. I watched his face turn red because he got hit on frequently and never knew how to handle it unless it was Jordan. Damien came back over and fell into the booth. He grabbed his beer and chugged most of it. The two girls he was with never took their eyes off him while they danced with each other. “Please tell me you didn’t manipulate their minds?” I asked him. This was something we could all do. Didn’t really work on our kind but on anyone else we could and it worked best if it was something they were already thinking or feeling. “I may have just made their intentions for tonight a little stronger.” “Your a d**k,” Kayden told him. “Don’t hate on my game. The three of us were going home regardless if I manipulated their mind or not. I just helped them make up their mind a little faster.” The waitress came back with a refill of drinks for us and we continued to chat and Damien's two new friends joined us. We sat and chatted with them for a while and then Damien tossed me his keys and left with his two friends. “You ready to get out of here?” I asked Kayden. “Yes.” We paid our tab and got the hell out of the bar. I slide into the driver’s seat of Damien’s car and took off. I dropped Kayden off at his place and continued on to my place. I parked Damien’s car and went inside and went straight to my room and fell face first onto the bed and passed out. When I woke up the next morning, I needed to feed. I woke up feeling a little sick and couldn’t remember the last time that I fed. After I did that, I got ready for the day and went to my dad’s office. I opened up his computer and went through his emails, seeing if there was anything that needed taking care of right away and there wasn’t. I knew my dad kept an eye on the wolf packs around us, but we hadn’t had a problem with them in a long time. We usually just stayed out of each other’s way and there wasn’t a problem. We also had an alliance with them. I pulled up the map that he kept of their property and noticed that one of them had grown lately, but that would happen from time to time. Maybe it was time for a meeting with them to see what was going on and update our alliance with them. I would have to talk to my dad when he got back. I looked at the other packs that were further away from us, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary with them and so I closed it and went back to his everyday task. I was deep into looking at stocks we had when my cell phone rang. Pulling it from my pocket, I saw Damien was calling me. “Hey,” I said, answering the phone. “Can you come get me and hurry?” he asked and sounded out of breath, which was unusual for us. “Ya, what’s wrong?” “Those two girls are f*****g bat s**t crazy. I need the f**k out of here now.” He said in a panic and all I could do was laugh. He did stupid s**t like this, and it was bound to catch up to him. “Ya send me the address and I am on my way.” I told him and hung up on him. I ran up to my room and grabbed his keys as his text came through with the address. I couldn’t wait to hear what happened. I’m not sure why I had to get him and he couldn’t just run home, but I am sure that it is going to be funny. I called Kayden on my way there to let him know about my phone call with Damien. He said that he would meet me back at my place and I had to bring him straight there so that he could tell us what happened.
