I slung my bag onto my shoulder as I got out of the car. My eyes glanced towards Will on their own accord and I felt my jaw clench as I watched him climb the school steps without so much as a look in my direction. There was a very large part of me that was annoyed with the fact that he had had the nerve to leave me alone. Once I started making my way to the entrance, I noticed that Michelle was sitting near the door with a few other girls. As if feeling my eyes on her, she turned and waved me over once her eyes settled on my rather lost form. I plastered a smile onto my face as I walked over them. “Good morning.” My polite greeting hung in the rather tense silence for a few moments before the girls smiled at me with a smile that was much more welcoming than my own. I allowed my eyes to dart between the two girls, looking for a slight difference in their appearance. I couldn't help but be surprised at how identical they were, obviously twins. Their hair was the kind of ash blonde that had a brownish tint to it if there wasn't enough light. Even their outfits matched, blue denims and white t-shirts. I felt as if I were looking at a duplicate of the same person. I felt a wave of relief wash over me as I became aware of a rather obvious difference between the two of them. One of them had blue eyes and the other had a mixture of green and blue. “Liv, I don't think you've met my friends, Sasha and Tasha.” I made a mental note that the one with the blue eyes was Sasha and that the one with the green eyes was Tasha. There was a part of me that wasn't even surprised at the fact that they had similar names. “I haven't, but it's nice to meet you.” I stated, realizing that they hadn't been at the lunch table yesterday. “Are you guys in the cheer leading team? I don't remember seeing either of you.” Sasha let out a loud laugh and Tasha started explaining. “We wouldn't join the team if it was the last sport on earth. We're more into the running side of sports, and glee club and those kind of things.” Her tone of voice was matter of fact, almost as if she had rehearsed it a thousand times. “But then why do you sit at the lunch table while they sit somewhere else?” I turned to Michelle as I asked her question and she shrugged her shoulders in reply. I didn’t miss the fact that she was fiddling with her fingers. “It's not as easy for us to be noticed as it is for you. It's barely your second day here and everyone already knows who you are. It's all about status and reputation. You need to be a somebody to be noticed by anybody.” I didn't miss the slight hardening in Michelle's voice as she acknowledged my growing popularity. There was a part of me that wanted to tell her that it would wear off, but the truth was, it never did-what would make this time any different? I decided that maybe it would he better for me to change the topic. “You know, we could all just sit at a different table. Sitting at the popular group isn't everything and besides Leila is a bitch.” I stated and I watched as Sasha and Tasha looked at one another and I raised a questioning eyebrow at Michelle. It was up to her. “You don't know Leila. When she realises we are ditching her, she will do everything to make our lives hell. She might even kick me off the team, and your chance of being on the team will be flushed.” Michelle stated in a hopeless voice. I couldn't help but smile. They were all under Leila's spell of perfection. “Leila won't have that kind of authority for long. And besides, like you said, I don't even 'know' her. And... Don't you think it's time to put Leila on her place?” I asked and I watched as Tasha smiled and Sasha gave Michelle a pointed look. It was clear that they had no problem with my idea, but Michelle was still having some hesitations. “Well?” I asked when it seemed like she wasn't going to answer. She gave me a glare and then sighed in defeat. I smiled because I knew I had succeeded. “Fine. What's the plan?”
