Goodbyes

Chapter 2 - Maria  After so long, being back in Lorry's house was nice as the last time I was here when we helped Jordan's Alpha prepare his surprise for him. ... Of course, It wasn't something that I had thought of by myself, and his mom was actually who had the idea to take all the works to New York and do things a little more special for them in the suite, instead of just send everything to the address that his Wolf had given to me... But unlike what I expected, no music was playing in the house that was always full of life and love; there was only an air of sadness when I got inside, using the spare key that they always kept in the vase plant beside the door. "Lorry? Lorry, where are you?" Calling for her, I couldn't help but notice the unfinished cakes on the kitchen counter before I decided to look for her upstairs. "Lorry? Is everything okay? Remembering my dream, I couldn't erase that terrible feeling I felt in my chest as I climbed each step, almost as if it really confirmed that something terrible was about to happen. "Lorry, If you are playing with me, this is not funny," I called out one more time before I heard a cry from the room that was three doors away from me. "Lorry! Lorry! Is everything okay?!" Running to her, I never thought that my visit would become the first mermaid funeral that I would be attending. ... And as always, life seemed to be taking an unexpected turn that no one saw coming, no even me... Sadness was the only thing that I witnessed for the following days until my friend arrived. And even that I had never met her before, I felt sorry for the mermaid that passes away in such a tragic way. ... No, she wasn't Jordan's mother or someone that I knew, as I said before, but after hearing her story from the others, I couldn't stop feeling that way. She was someone kind, loved by everyone around her, even by the Human residents of the small town, so it was pretty shocking to know that even kind souls like her could have their lives turned into a sad story so quickly, which was that I thought that only evil beings deserved... "Are you sure that you don't want to come with us?" Noticing my silence, Jordan asked while I watched everyone go in different ships that would take them beyond the coast. "Yes, I am. This is something more private and to family members only, so I believe that my presence will be unnecessary at sea with you guys." Putting my hands inside my coat, I replied with a slight smile on my face, leaving no room for arguments. "Okay, then. But at least wait for us in the house; we don't need a second death today." Making me laugh, he mentioned before he went with everyone to say goodbye while I wondered if so many people would be there if it were my funeral...   ... I mean... There weren't so many people in that world that I could call my friends besides Jordan and his family since I was turned into a child of the Night... Since the day that I became a Vampire.
