Chapter 4 - Present - Selena After the conversation with his grandfather, there wasn't a way that Jackson didn't feel depressed at all... It was one more burden on his shoulders now... ... The idea of how he maybe will never meet his mate... For years now, he stopped believing in the reading Melissa had done to him long ago, although he never suspected the abilities of his hybrid friend and his witchcraft, it was obvious it didn't match his life nowadays... ... Not wanting to be disturbed and afraid someone would look for him again, Jackson decided to go to the pack's house earlier and 'hid' in his office until later but the solution didn't last long as his cell phone was receiving several messages from his friends and parents at the moment who wanted to know where he was, in others if he knew Kristian's whereabouts... ... Another stressful factor...  Kristian should have returned to the pack two days ago, what didn't happen as he sent Jackson a message saying to the long hair man not to worry about it as he would go back in time for the ceremony... And now? It was almost late afternoon and no sign of Kris has yet been seen. ... Jack closed his eyes, ignore the whole world, and trying to relax as much as possible at the moment without knowing his friend, his Beta would be bringing a surprise to him in his package... One that would make his blood boils... ... And this was the way Kristian was too earlier in that day as the rays of the sun streamed through the window and came directly into his face, which seemed to burn his eyes as they struggled to return to rest one more time... The last days had been agitated, problems arose with the case he had been working with, making he reschedule his flight and currently find himself living in an almost empty apartment if it weren't for the bed and his suitcase. ... His phone rang for the third time waking him finally as he picked it up and noticed the time... "s**t!!!! The flight!!!" He quickly got ready and took a taxi to the airport. His agitation was such that he only noticed that there was something different a few minutes before the boarding call, he thought of sharing this fact with his friends but... In a few hours, he would be home so he decided to keep it for now. ... After landing he was in doubt whether he would call someone to pick him up or if he could just take a taxi home, however, the airport was an hour and a half away from where they lived and no matter who he called, it would certainly interfere with the preparations of today's festivities. Being why his second option, the taxi wouldn't be good now... After all, he didn't know how many people would be already in the Pack's house when he arrives in there and on days like that occasion was normal for everyone to transform freely around the areas of the house since at dusk the full moon would shine brightly in the sky which was a plus about tonight. ... His thoughts were cut by a vibration in his pocket... "DAMN IT!! What am I going to do?!" His cell phone, which still in airplane mode, had just turned off carrying the numbers of all Kristian's friends and family that he couldn't remember on his own, making the young wolf be in an incredible dilemma. He couldn't call his friends and couldn't even warn them that a human was taking him home now and as if his day wasn't bad enough, he couldn't find his charger... No matter how many times he looked for it all over his bags, until he finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel... ... A familiar voice called him... "Hey!" That voice belonged to who had become his third choice, the beautiful young woman with golden skin and lips that one day he loved to kiss...  Selena. * * * When I saw him there in front of me, spreading his things on the airport floor I knew he had lost something again, making a sigh escaped my lips... As they say, some people don't change no matter how old they get and Kristian, my ex-boyfriend from high school was the perfect example of that... "Did you start to hear heartbeats today?!" We were on the way to his pack in my car when he told me the news. "I can't believe. And I thought my wolf has matured late." "When did this happen? Why didn't you told me that the last time we talked?" I laugh at the questions from my ex who nonetheless was still my good friend and we always exchanged messages and talk to each other. "This morning," I replied quickly looking at him before paying attention back to the road as our laughter dominated the car. "But I must confess I was already worried..." He told me that he was too, especially today since officially he would be recognized as his Pack's Beta and thinking about that detail, I sighed in relief because my Alpha was still healthy and in perfect condition to maintain his title, so it would still take a few years before I take over his place, so I could search for my mate unworried about nothing.  ... Or I had thought... The trip was faster than expected as we talked and as we arrived in Mingan, his Pack. It was a surprise for me how many people showed up outside after I had finished parking and...  I must say, it was strange and I ignore it as I was the first to get out of the car. ... Feeling the sweet smell ever... A few feet in front of me was the new Alpha and my former classmate Jackson who I wouldn't say was my friend... Although his blue eyes had always been intriguing in my mind as the sweet scent of lavender invaded once more my nose... Teasing my wolf side who wanted to go to him before hearing the same Jackson say...                                                            "You CAN'T BE my Mate!!!"
