Chapter 10 - Kristian
I HAVE NEVER...
... EVER...
... HATED MY COUSIN AS MUCH I HATE HER NOW!!!
WHY THE HELL SHE HAD TO APPEAR AT THAT TIME!?
... Let's go back a few minutes earlier...
... Thump thump... Thump thump... Thump thump...
I couldn't tell whose heartbeat I was hearing... And I didn't care to know who it was... I just...
I just wanted to close the little space that existed between our bodies...
Each second was agonizing...
Finally, I could feel my desire coming true! Our lips were so close that even a sheet of paper wouldn't be able to get through them... The contact was gentle like a breeze but it wasn't a kiss yet!
... I noticed that Jack's body was moving... And with such closeness... I was sure he would kiss me at that moment when-
"I SWEAR FOR THE GODS! YOU SHOULD JUST KISS AND MAKE PEACE RIGHT AWAY!"
Ironic, isn't it? This kiss would have happened if she hadn't interrupted us and she still talks about kissing... Sigh! But she always talked like that... Since we were kids, the first thing Sarah would tell us when we fought was this and I guess even she didn't notice how this phrase could be interpreted differently now...
"THEN I HOPE YOU AREN'T KILLING EACH OTHER! OR... I WILL SEND YOU BOTH TO THE EMERGENCY MYSELF." She kept saying until she was before us...
First, she looked in my direction, I could see that she studied me from head to toe and then did the same with Jack who, like me, was on the other side of the stone standing completely different from seconds ago...
... When his breath and mine almost become one...
"Sarah, we were just talking..." Jack said after hearing her relieved sigh, probably because the worst she had in mind hadn't happened. And yes, sometimes things between wolves can get pretty ugly when someone unexpected ends up being their mate.
"True Samy! We were just talking." But it could have been more than a conversation if you don't get in the way!
DAMN IT! I have to stop thinking about it!
"... ist... KRIS... KRISTIAN!" Sarah's voice brought me back from my thoughts.
"Yes, Samy?" For a second she looked at me as she was confused with something but she decided to ignore it and just nodded toward the Pack's House, indicating to go back.
... It had been two days since my conversation with Jackson in the woods and honestly, I hadn't seen him after that day.
He locked himself in his office, rarely left there and it was Vinny who told me that he was trying to figure out who would be the Pack's new Beta since the only person strong enough for the job and that he had a connection with was Sarah who continued to refuse the position...
In fact, Sarah has always been Jack's first choice, as he always saw her as his Beta but my cousin who always dreamed of being a doctor, refused him saying that she wouldn't have the skills to follow her dreams and take care of the Pack at the same time, allowing the position that I always wanted to finally became mine... Despite it being taken from me again...
"Kristian!" I heard Melissa's voice followed by knocks on the bedroom door that I used in the Pack's House. "Are you there?"
She knew that the answer was yes, her nose was as good as mine even if she was a hybrid, so she certainly just wanted to respect my privacy.
"I am!" I answered her from my bed. "Come in Melissa, I'm dressed."
"I don't need to know it, Kris." She spoke as she entered my room and sat on the foot of my bed.
"What's up? What do you want, Pipsqueak?"
"I already told to you don't call me that. We're not long little kids, Kris." A faint smile appeared on her face as she answered me but the way she looked toward the door confirmed that the real reason why she was there was more serious than she appeared to be...
I didn't tell her anything... I waited until she had thought or remembered everything she wanted to say to me before the conversation could go on... Making the silence stay with us for a few more seconds...
"You don't know anyway... Of how can we talk to Sarah?" She asked me but she didn't wait for my answer. "Jack is freaking out... You know how our wolf side, our instincts are. Although we have a connection to our Pack, with our family, there are still few who can make that bond stronger, more close..."
I understood perfectly what she said... After all... There were just a few people who could be strong enough and also close enough to the Alpha making them feel with this person a connection as Beta's, Gamma's or Delta's bond do...
"I don't know Mel..." I finally answered getting out of my bed. "You know how stubborn Sarah can be sometimes."
"I know..." She stood up too. "But the only people she truly listens to is Jack and... You. Which still strange to me, even if you're a few months older than her." I ended laughing after hearing her say that it was 'strange' that Sarah listened to me... However... Right now I think we could just be thankful to the Gods about it... As we hoped this would work...
