The New Relationship

Chapter 9 - Present - Kristian  

Melissa was the first to break the ice after Kristian left to follow the other young wolf. She started laughing while looking at her friends. She questioned them if they had ever imagined Kris and Jack together because she never did it and, this was simply hilarious to her now that the fact had finally got inside her head.

"Can you imagine when they start to make out!? I don't want to see it!" Vinny agreed while laughing next to the young curly hair woman.

"OMG! What if they do that at the office?" Melissa asked Vinny. "How we gonna know it's a good time to go in? I don't want to fell any smell from them to know it!"

"Simple... Just call them first, before entering the office." Sarah got into her friends' conversation with a smile on her face that soon turned into a laugh like the other two. "So you don't have to worry about smelling or seeing anything that you don't want to."

The young wolves now laughed recklessly imagining the future of the new couple and just like them Jack's grandfather also smiled, despite the surprise. He was happy for his grandson who wouldn't have the same destiny as his... 

Or at least he thought...

"D-Do you think is eve-everything alright with them?" Elizabeth asked as the youngers laughed. "Jackson looked pretty stressed."

"What are you talking about, Eli? Of course, they must be just talking." Penelope calmed her friend with a smile on her face though internally she was worried too. She had never seen her son use his Alpha's tone to talk to them... 

Or rather... 

With no one at all...

"Don't worry sister. First of all, these two are best friends." Her brother spoke to her after placing a hand on Elizabeth's shoulder and squeezed lightly to assure her that everything was fine, however...

He just likes her and the Alphas couple were afflicted for that exact reason. These two had been best friends since forever and this could make it difficult for them to see each other differently... To see each other romantically. 

After all... Unlike what many people believed, after finding your Mate, you don't instantly fall in love with them like your wolf side by following instincts... 

There would only be an attraction, a bond that would bring them together, more and more, every time they met. The stronger the bond became, the stronger will be their feelings and more in love they will be until finally became mates. 

... AND that Bond was what worried the old wolves!...

Jackson and Kristian already had this connection but not as a romantic one... It was a strong bond of friendship that united them, as an Alpha and Beta that would be a barrier for they become a couple as it was already difficult for normal wolves who were just friends... 

So imagine to these two who had an EVEN stronger connection and never looked at each other differently as far as their parents knew.

However... Of course, there were few exceptions between the wolves that were friends and turned out to be mates, like Penelope and Alexander but what made it easier for both of them be together was the fact that the young she-wolf already feels an attraction for, at that time, future Alpha who, even no admitting it, already saw her as a beautiful woman and not a friend...

So even without even noticing, the old wolves all had just one thought deep in their hearts and it was that the young couple were talking about the change in their relationship in a friendly way... 

And not the same way from when they were children...

"..." I hear Jack sigh beside me. "What's going on, Kris? Can you explain to me since when you're Bisexual?"

I laughed with that question, I honestly didn't think he would say that.

"I didn't think you'd start with that."

"What do you mean by that?"

"To be honest, I thought you would mention how unlucky you were to have me as a Mate... Just like everyone else inside the Pack's House is thinking and I was sure after seeing how you reacted earlier." I saw sadness for a moment in his blue eyes because of my answer but I can't say that his words earlier didn't hurt me...

"You CAN'T BE my mate!!!"

"Anyway! Answering your question I think that since I was about twelve or thirteen as I already had a crush on a boy at the time."

"WAIT! Did you have a crush on a boy when you had thirteen?!"

"WOW...! Jack stops scream!" The last thing I wanted was him screaming again beside me after all... Sensitive hearing. "But yes, I did."

"Why didn't you ever tell me?" I just shrugged my shoulders.

"I don't know..." Honestly... The last thing I wanted back then was for him to find out about it. "I didn't think it was important at the time since soon after it, I started dating Kathy. And you know how she was part of my fantasies as she was for the other boys."

"So your crush was over when you started dating Kathy?"

"Yes." LIAR!

"But have you dated any guy yet?" He looked away and I could see that he was lightly blushed when he asked me. "Because all the people I've seen you date or be with were girls."

"I've never been with a guy around here, they've all been on trips" I answered honestly, I didn't want to lie to him... "And yes, I've dated two guys, both while I was in college."

"Ok..." He turned his face in my direction and his gaze resembled a puppy that had been abandoned. "Why didn't you ever tell me? I mean, we always talk everything to each other."

"..." This time I sighed before answering. "I don't know... I didn't find it necessary, you know that the only girlfriend I had introduced to you was Selena."

I could notice that he tensed when I mentioned her name, and I know the fault was from his Wolf side that was jealous and didn't like the idea of his Mate next to another Alpha, especially one who had been his girlfriend.

"Besides, the two guys were quick relationships, never more than six months. So I didn't see why mention them to you or the others, it's not like these people were my mate." Okay... 

The last part I said unwittingly, however, it sees to had helped to soothe Jack that seemed to be more relaxed now with a faint smile on his face and for a moment, we were in silent...

" So...  Who was he in any way?"

"Who?"

"The kid you had a crush on." He replies. "No matter how I think about it,  I can't find anyone who might have been the first boy you had a crush..."

Arghh...! Why was he talking about it AGAIN!?

"The only person I can remember that you looked at differently was Kathy herself. So... Who was he?"

"Sorry... This you'll never know Jack."

"Come on, Kris! You know the first person I had a crush on was Josh Jonas, why not?"

"Sorry, my friend... but no," I replied and then I started to laugh at seeing the frustration on his face. It wasn't long before he accompanied me and laughed next to me making him forget that conversation, in which I would rather die than answer him and If I had known what would happen in the next months... 

... Maybe I wouldn't say that...

"So..." He patted my back twice lightly before reaching out his hand like he was trying to greet me, making me look at him because I didn't understand what he wanted me to do until his question complete the dots in my head about my friend's act. "Mates?"

"Mates." I replied laughing at the way he had chosen to 'confirm' that we were both 'fine' with our new relationship and caught myself once more looking directly into his beautiful eyes...

... I could see in them the internal confusion that he felt when they changed from my eyes to my lips...

... I couldn't deny that I didn't do the same when I saw him bite his lower lips and I wasn't sure who was the first to move and narrow the distance between us but...

... I can confirm that I was the first to close my eyes, giving him permission for his next move as we both diminished the distance that existed even more... 

... Until I could feel his breath close to my lips...

... Thump thump... Thump thump... Thump thump...
