A New Face

Chapter 11 - Kristian     After talking to Melissa, I decided to go home where I could think more calmly about how I should persuade my cousin to accept her new role in the Pack.  ... What wouldn't be easy... As I passed through the main living room of the Pack's House, I catch the smell from someone familiar who reminded me of Jackson for obvious reasons plus an unknown presence. And even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to leave without knowing who that person was and if he or she didn't bring any kind of dangerous for us... No matter if he was invited by someone I knew extremely well. I dropped my suitcase right there, in the corner of the front door and headed towards the main living room. As soon as I get in there, I saw her putting a glass of water in a teenage boy's hands who had a similar physical to mine. "KRISTIAN!!!" She shouted my name with a big smile when she saw me, just like she always have done as a child. "Have been a while Kenzie!" Kenzie or Mackenzie is Jackson's younger sister who turns eighteen this year and has always been very attached to me and her brother. Now, she was taller than the last time I saw her, however... Besides it, Kenzie still the same girl which I grow with, and was always had more similarities to the old Alpha's appearance than Jack. ... Her skin tone was just the same as her brother, a beautiful caramel tan skin and her eyes looked just like copies of her mother's dark brown eyes like chocolate, making she a beautiful blasian lady for sure... "Yes! Almost a year! The last time I saw you were at the Christmas party! Since you didn't come to my brother's birthday." She was still hugging me. "True... But who is this strong friend of yours over there?" I asked her as it was a joke however, it was true that he was strong. Perhaps not as much as Jackson but his presence still being similar to any other Alpha or Beta. "Please don't joke about it Alpha... I'm just a blind Omega." I listened to his voice for the first time. "Ah! I was already forgetting!" She went back to being seated by his side as he searched the coffee table with his left hand. "This is my friend, Jonathan. He's my classmate and like he said an Omega." I could tell in their words that both believed in this... I could understand why Kenzie didn't notice it. After all... When you came from a strong Pack, Alphas and Betas from other Packs may have a presence similar to normal wolves for some Werewolves but... I don't understand why he also considers himself an Omega? His disability? Maybe... "...is. Kris! KRIS!" "Sorry! What did you say Kenzie?" "I was saying that on the day of the ceremony, Johnny smelled his Mate but as Dad sent me a message that all the event has been canceled and to return home, he ended up no having the luck to meet her." "Johnny?" I couldn't understand who she was talking about. "..." I heard a sigh coming from Jonathan. "For some unknown reason... Mackenzie likes to call me Johnny." Kenzie continued to explain to me that they had tried to find Jonathan's Mate in the Town but her scent was too weak for him to follow... Even after questioning the most gossiping members from the Pack, no one knew of anyone else who had felt their Mate on the day that the ceremony should have happened. Even though that conversation eventually makes me remember someone... ... A very specific she-wolf... I could just hope she hadn't any problems with having a relationship with someone younger than her... Honestly just imagining, she with him made me laugh... And I think she must have thought the same about me and Jackson when her anger toward me passed, or at least I expected it has happened... Despite the big news... I've soon completely forgotten about it when I parked in front of my mother's house, my childhood home and across the street, I noticed a moving truck parked outside the old Winston's house that has been empty for almost 10 years now since the old owner, Mrs. Clara had passed away. ... I picked up my suitcase from the trunk when I saw a young small woman doing the same in the car in front of the truck... Perhaps because of the weight of the box, she lost her balance as she tried to walk with it on her hands and almost fell against the street's floor. Thankfully, I was able to avoid these from happening as I caught her seconds before falling... "Merci." She spoke to me with a blushing face. "Thank you so much." "You're welcome." Now I could see that it was just the fact that she was quite thin that made her look small, in reality, she was very tall... Maybe about 1,70m or something like that. "Do you want me to help you carry this inside? It can be dangerous if you fall again and no one is around to help you." I heard her small giggly before she looked me straight in the eyes and answered me... "Please, if you don't mind." "I have free time, don't worry..." "Mabelly." "Mabelly?" "My name is Mabelly but you can call me Mabel." She told me smiling. "I'm Kristian but everyone calls me Kris," I said as I took the box she had tried to carry early and it was... Very heavy... Even for me! "You can call me that as well if you want Mabel." "Thank you, Kris." Once again, she thanked me with a smile before taking the other bag from the trunk, which looked to be a lot more lighter than the box in my hands. "And thanks for helping me carry my books." "Books?" "The box in your hands." "Ah! That explains the weight." I wasn't lying when I said it was very heavy. "Why didn't you leave it for the guys from the moving company?" Mabel simply replied that they were very rare, old books and that she ended up being a little more careful with them because she was afraid someone would pick them up in the wrong way and end up ruin the books...  She continued explaining to me that she had forgotten how heavy the box was, and how it was her friend who had put it in the car earlier for her... So she could bring them personally to the new house. "Here!" She pointed to a table that was in the middle of Mrs. Winston's old living room. "You can leave the books here." "Well... It was nice to meet you, Mabel." I said after I had put the box on the table. "My mother is your neighbor from across the street, so we'll probably see each other again." "It was my pleasure and... Thank you for helping me Kristian, I'm very grateful to you." She said as she headed toward the door. "Au revoir!" ... It was strange to think that the old Winston's house would have some life again with Mabelly or Mabel living in there... And little did I knew at the time that when I met the nice and friendly girl... That this was the moment which would completely change my life and put my relationship with Jack in danger...
