Chapter 7: Hoping For The Best

    Everyone begins to come and give their congratulations to Aiden and I, i honestly didn't think anything i would say would get through to them. I'm glad to see that i was wrong although his brother is still a cause of concern, he left shortly after Aiden marked me. Aiden, although we aren't fully bonded i feel like i can feel him ten times stronger and for some reason i can feel that he is anxious about something. I feel like he isn't telling me everything, he is holding something back and i can't figure out what.

  'Everything will become clear when we mate with him. We are better doing it sooner rather than later.'

's**t Scarlet you scare me. Why is it better to mate now?'

  'Well i guess it doesn't really matter when you mate. But in order for you two to take over as Alpha and Luna you will need to be fully mated. And the longer you wait you run into the risk of going into heat to help move the process along.'

Oh great just what i needed. I guess i should talk to Aiden and workout what he wants to do. I can't imagine that this is how he had wanted things to go. I am a bit worried on the fact that his father never showed up, it only makes me think the worse like maybe he is planning something. I hope i am just paranoid. 

    I walk around the corner and find Aiden talking to some of the council members. Or at least that is what i am assuming, i actually have no idea how many of them there are. I guess there is a lot i still need to learn.

    "Evie come over here for a moment."

I jump a little, startled since i hadn't noticed they have noticed me. I slowly make my way over to them and Aiden quickly wraps his arm around my waist. 

    "Gentleman allow me to introduce my mate, Evie Summers. Eve this is Matt Peterson one of the founders of the council and Lucas another member of the council."

"It's nice to officially meet you both." 

They both give me small smiles and a slight nod "Likewise Luna. We look forward to the celebration next week. I'm very sorry Alpha but we must be leaving now, many things to attend to."

    With another quick nod and slight bow they both left and seemed very eager for some reason.

"What did they mean by celebration next week?"

Aiden let out a long sigh and i could tell he was either irritated with the question or the situation they have just put him in. 

    "It appears they would like us to have complete our mating bond by next week."

"And who exactly are they to decide that for us?"

    "They aren't trying to force our hand Eve, they simply want my father out just as much as we do. And if that means completing our mating bond today or tomorrow so be it."

"Hmph so romantic Alpha."

    "That's not wh-

I walked off before he finished that sentence, hoping to tease him a little. The pack house cleared out pretty quickly once the few council members that were here left. The few pack members that were left seemed to be pretty accepting of me. I'm glad i was able to persuade some of them at least. Pretty soon the house was pretty quiet, the only people that were left were the ones that live here. Aiden was in the back talking with his beta so i decided to take a quick walk and get some fresh air. 

    As soon as i stepped outside the cool air was welcomed as i took deep big breaths. I hadn't realized how scared i had been until now. I'm pretty impressed with myself with how well i was able to squish my feelings down. I just hope within time i can become sincerely brave and not just pretending. 

I figured a loop around the pack house would make me feel better. The house was practically in the middle of the woods which was the best location in my opinion. There is a nice path that loops around the house and is far enough from town that people can go in there wolf form, just a precaution from what little humans we have in the center of town. There isn't many thank goodness, with the way the pack has been lately any killings of humans would not be easily covered. 

    About half way around the house i heard a sound coming from a few feet behind me. I'm no i***t i know perfectly well that it is a wolf that is slowly stalking behind me, who i can't be to sure until the come out from the trees. I keep walking forward trying not to show any fear, although i may be far past that point. I start to walk a little faster hoping to get to the house, to Aiden before anything happens. I hear the wolf getting closer and faster so i decide now is the time to start running back to the house. As i'm running i look behind me to see that the wolf is not full sprinting at me in full view and if i knew any better i would say that the wolf chasing me is none other than Alpha Jason. He must have been waiting for the meeting to end to get me alone and stupid me did exactly that. 

    I'm running faster than i think i have ever run before and it still didn't feel fast enough. I tried zig zagging through the trees to through him off but no such luck. I was so focused on running and keeping him behind me that i didn't look in front of me and tripped on a tree root sticking out of the ground. I smacked hard into the floor and began rolling smacking my head on the tree that stopped my rolling. I could feel the big gash on my head and the blood dripping down my head blurring my vision. 

I look up to to see Jason closing in on me knowing that i wouldn't have time to react. I simply looked him straight in the eye showing that i wasn't afraid of him just as he lept straight for my throat.
