Chapter Seven
I blinked at this information. I’d had no idea that Esther and Zelda knew each other, much less that they were friends. It hadn’t surprised me that Zelda would steal away someone’s best friend, although I was surprised that Zelda had the ability to make friends as well as she did. She must be a lot more outgoing with some people than with others.
“Did you know Esther for a long time?” I asked.
Cora nodded. “The two of us had been close since we were teenagers. We’d always listen to records together and go to the high school football games. Small town stuff, you know, but it was fun.”
Actually, it sounded quite a bit like my old high school experience in Whitby if you substituted “records” for “music.”
