Chapter 9
THE next day Kathleen woke up early because she didn't sleep well. Because she constantly feasts on mosquitoes. She also constantly scratches her arms and legs.
When she's finally fully wide awake, Gabrielle is no longer by her side. She got up and left the room. She went down the stairs while she was still constantly scratching both of her arms.
"Good morning, Kathleen. Did you sleep well?" Susana greeted her with a sweet smile on her face. She was carrying a bag and looked like she had just come from the wet market.
"It's fine," she replied but still didn't want to stop scratching her arms.
"Wait, what happened to your arms?" said Susana while examining her arms.
"My God! You have so many mosquito bites. Didn't you and Gabrielle use a mosquito net last night?" She quickly shook her head.
"Oh dear! Wait, I'll get you an ointment from my room."
"Mom, I'm okay. You don't have to worry about me," she immediately stopped Susana but the old lady didn't listen to her.
Gabrielle then entered carrying a large container with water inside.
"Gabrielle, you're too insensitive. You let Kathleen feast on mosquitoes last night. You know she's not used to our place yet," said Susana.
Gabrielle looked at her in a plain emotion. He approached her and examined her arms. After that Gabrielle pulled her out of the house. They went to his car and opened the door. Then he took something inside the glovebox.
Without saying a word, he handed her an anti mosquito lotion and an ointment for mosquito bites.
"Use that. I hardly forgot, you're a rich kid and a dramatic actress," he added sarcastically.
"What!? I'm not faking it! There were really a lot of mosquitoes last night! Maybe it's because you have buffalo skin that's why you were protected last night," she said angrily and turned away from him.
She returned to the house and went inside. She went upstairs and got a towel. She also took her hygiene kit. Fortunately, her assistant sent her those. Because if not, she will definitely have problems again. It's still hard to please Gabrielle. She left the room and went down the stairs. She bumped with Susana again.
"Mom, where can I take a bath here?" she asked curiously.
"It's in the back, dear. There is fresh flowing water there and you will really like the water here because it's fresh on the body. Come and I'll go with you," Susana said to her with a smile.
Susana was the first to leave the house. Kathleen just followed and they circled behind. Not far away, she immediately saw the so-called flowing water that Susana was referring to.
"There Kathleen," she pointed to her.
"Thank you," she answered briefly.
"Oh, okay! I'll leave you for now because I'm going to cook our breakfast. I'll just tell Gabrielle that you're here." She just nodded to Susana.
When Susana was gone, she immediately took off her clothes. What was only left was her pair of red bikinis. She brought her hand a little closer to the water. She was very amazed by it and it was her first time to see this kind of way while taking a bath. Well, she's a workaholic and she doesn't have time to travel because her schedules are very hectic. She giggled as she felt the cold water. She started to take a bath then. She's all wet and she cleans her body thoroughly.
She finished soaping her body and was just enjoying the cold water. The water is so relaxing and so refreshing. Her stress temporarily disappeared.
"Kathleen! What the hell are you doing!?" Gabrielle suddenly appeared behind her. She turned to him and immediately frowned.
"Can't you see I'm washing myself? I'm taking a bath? Why?" She answered this confusedly.
"Can't you even notice!? Our neighbors are already eyeing you!" he said angrily and quickly took her towel.
"What are you saying? Did your neighbors just now see someone in a bikini while taking a bath? Stop exaggerating! I don't see anyone else here, except for the two of us," she frowned as she looked around.
"Stop whining and arguing with me!" Gabrielle said and pulled her. He covered her body with a towel. After that, he gets her clothes and hygiene kit. Then, Gabrielle took her back to their house unwillingly.
"Oh, you're already done taking a bath Kathleen? You're quite too fast. Don't you like the water here?" Susana asked her while she was hanging the wet clothes.
"The water is nice. I like it very much but Gabrielle suddenly stopped me," she answered.
"Go upstairs, right now and dress up!" Gabrielle ordered her rudely. She rolled her eyes on him and went inside the house.
"Mom, why did you let Kathleen bathe there by herself?" Gabrielle said, confronting his mother. Kathleen stopped walking up the stairs when she heard that.
"Why? Is there something wrong with that? You didn't say anything that she is not allowed there," replied Susana.
"Please mother, next time. Don't let Kathleen bathe there alone. If possible, call me."
"Oh, fine! I'm sorry, son. I'll call you next time," Susana just simply answered.
Gabrielle entered the house so Kathleen quickly climbed the stairs and entered the room. She immediately got dressed and dried her hair, using a towel. She then rolled it in her wet hair.
"Kathleen, are you done dressing up?" Gabrielle said as he knocked on the door. She didn't answer Gabrielle and busied herself with applying lotion all over her body. The door suddenly opened and she was caught applying lotion to her thighs. Gabrielle then looked away at her.
"Why? Can't you wait for me to finish?" she asked, almost cursing.
"I'll take you to town. Now, hurry up!"
Kathleen's eyes immediately lit up. She quickly finished what she was doing and immediately took her clutch bag. She also removed the towel that was wrapped around her hair.
"I'm done! Let's go!" she said energetically and was the first to leave the room.
She went outside the house and hung up the towel she was using. After that she walked first to Gabrielle's car.
She is super excited to go shopping today and she really won't miss anything because Gabrielle might not allow her to be in town again. Gabrielle has arrived and as usual, his face is full of annoyance and irritability. Anytime he will snap at her again and he won't budge when he's not in the mood. Gabrielle opened the car. She immediately hopped inside. She took her comb from the bag and fixed her messy hair. After that, she put some light red lipstick on her lips.
"We are not going to a mall," Gabrielle said to her rudely.
"You're killjoy. Were you born in the stone age era? And hello, I want to look pretty as always. Especially when I'm in front of other people. I should look presentable. I don't want to look like I'm your assistant," she replied with a frown.
"And why did you say that? You don't look like my maid," he says, while his eyebrows furrow.
"Can you just drive? Don't bother with my appearance. I love myself and you should mind your own business."
"Well, I'm sorry to tell you, but you are my business."
"Whatever," she says and struggles with it.
He hisses and starts the engine. He started the car and to be honest she was even surprised by what they were going through. The place is so remote and all she sees are banana plants. The grass is also growing tall around.
"This place must be so creepy at night," she absentmindedly said.
"Why? Are you planning to escape?" He was stunned by Gabrielle's words.
"I'm not," she lied. He smirked.
"I know you are planning to escape. Just now, I'm telling you, Kathleen. You can't run from me." She crossed her arms.
"How sure are you that I can't escape from you?"
"Because you don't know this place."
"I know how to read. I'm not so stupid that I don't know what I'm doing," she replied, annoyed. Gabrielle is really treating her like a toddler.
"You want to bet?" Gabrielle suddenly challenged her.
"And what will be in return?"
"I'll let you free if you could escape today but if not, you'll be staying here until your father says so."
"Is that a lie?" Her eyes even squinted. She doesn't want to buy his lies. He can't fool her.
"I'm not lying. So?" he said in a boastful tone.
"Fine! Game!" she immediately answered.
Gabrielle smirked at her again. She just ignored his teasing her. She looked outside. This place is so green and that calms her eyes. She could also clearly see the towering mountains surrounding them.
"Is there any sightseeing here that we can go to?" she suddenly asked.
Gabrielle didn't answer her. She frowned at him. She looked back at what they were going through. She's enjoying the view and the simple life she sees in them. What she sees makes her feel better. Except for the one next to her who is always rude and can't stop fooling her around. What a jerk!
