The Conspiracy

THIRD PERSON POV The Queen wears a troubled face as she walks fast down a corridor and bursts into a magnificent bedroom with a king size bed and the most exquisite furniture, some of which has been decorated with gold. It's too extravagant even for a royal bedroom. Her husband lays down on his back on top of the bed covers, his eyes gazing at the ceiling as he appears to be thinking deeply. "We need to talk." His Queen states as she marches to bed and sits on the edge. "I already heard that Evan's beautiful mate is Talia Abrams cousin if that is what you wish to tell me." He replies without taking a glance at her. "Then I guess the news you haven't heard is that that is a lie." She says and he finally turns his head to look at her. "What do you mean?" "Miss Abrams was my best friend before she tried to poison our son. She didn't have any nieces or nephews. That girl lied!" She says, sounds clearly too certain of what the truth is. Yet her husband shakes his head in disagreement. "She did look a little like the girl that was executed. They must be related somehow." He argues. The Queen climbs on the bed and takes a seat very close to her husband. She also lowers her voice as she utters her next words. "That girl looks like Talia Abrams because it's her. That's why she came to the party to try and find out where her mother and siblings are." She whispers in a voice filled with worry but her husband scoffs. "Have you lost your mind or has your brain suddenly grown too old?" He mocks."We both saw the dead body of Talia Abrams after she was executed, how can you now claim that she was the one that was in the hall?" "She did die, yes. But people do get reborn, you know that." The Queen argues her point and her husband immediately gapes in realisation. He stays quiet for a long moment seeming to have been overwhelmed with shock. The Queen waves a hand in front of his face. "How could Talia Abrams look like a noble lady?" He questions, still looking dazed by the shock. "She was just a feisty wolfless girl then." His Queen answers. "Now she is more dangerous than her mother because she is obviously back for revenge." She adds, trying to make her husband see the huge danger they are facing while knowing very well that the only thing she is terrified of having anyone learn the truth. "Have you told Evan that the girl is Talia?" Her King questions. "No. He is too desperate to find her that I doubt he would care that she is Talia Abrams." She answers. Her husband once again stares up at the ceiling, looking frustrated. "We cannot let him bring that girl here. It would be a disaster." He states. The Queen looks away to hide her hideous smile. "Then we must act fast if you don't want that to happen. Evan will choose another girl to become his Queen, she doesn't have to be his mate." The King gets up from the bed and slips on his robe on top of his pajamas. "I will send a few men right away. The only option we have is to have her killed and immediately buried so Evan will never hear about her again." He says as he makes his way to the door. "I love you because you're a smart man. Make sure you send the best of our soldiers so this can end quickly." The Queen advises. * * * * * TALIA'S POV I can't fall asleep. I am just as apprehensive as I was the night before my execution. But this time there is hope that I can fix all that fell apart three years ago. That is as long as mother, Taylor and Michael are all still alive. I hear a loud knock downstairs, like someone is trying to break in while still pretending to be knocking. "Someone better open this door right now or we will break it into pieces!" A man's voice yells. But Jim and whoever else he is with doesn't wait for anyone to answer. They immediately starts kicking the door hard. "Wait! What is it you want?" I hear the woman who had invited me in shout back. "The girl. We know she is in there!" The men answer. I freeze. The only people that would be looking for me with so much determination are the palace soldiers, obviously sent after me by my mate. "Yes, Prince Evan's mate is here and she is resting well. Just wait for me to open the door for you." The woman shouts back and I hear her footsteps heading the direction of the front door. I roll out of the bed as I hear it click open. I wonder if he sent them to deliver his rejection? Or did he actually recognise me and wants me sent back to the world of the dead? "Step aside!" "You can't take her now. She needs time to rest and think. She is not ready to go." I hear the woman try to persuade the soldiers. "Who said anything about going? His majesty wants her dead and that is the order we are here to fulfill!" One of the soldiers snap. So he wants me dead? Guess he did recognise me after all. That means my family is in more danger if they are alive. The fool has no idea how powerful I am now, otherwise he would have sent hundreds of soldiers if he really wants me dead. A part of me wants to go down there and kill his soldiers so I can prove to him that I am not as weak as I was three years ago. I however don't want to be like him or his parents. Life isn't a worthless thing that one should take whenever they feel like it. Even the soldiers that are following his orders are humans as well that have families that love and depend on them. They are here because they have been lied to. "Why would he want her dead? What wrong has she done?" My host questions. "We are not here to answer your questions, woman! Now show us where she is!" A soldier orders. "I . . . I don't -" "Give her up or we arrest you!" They threaten. "She is upstairs." I hear their heavy footsteps as they rush up the steps. I quickly move to the window and jump out. Heights are no longer an issue for me, I can even land from such a height without making a sound. I am not even sure if gravity has it's pull on me all the time. I keep feeling like I can keep floating in thin air everytime I am jumping from somewhere. I dash around the house so they won't spot me if they look out through the window. "There is no one in here!" I hear one of them shout. "She must have jumped out through the window." Another answers. "We can't go after her anymore, it's almost dawn. Let's go back to the palace." He orders the others. I wait until they have left before walking back to the house. "I was wrong to think Prince Evan is a perfect being." The woman says after opening the door for me. "Why would he want his own mate dead?" "Because he probably learned that I am Talia Abrams cousin." I answer. "He could have just rejected you." She argues. I don't know what else to say without revealing the truth so I just nod my head. "You need to get far away from here before more soldiers come. I only have little cash that I can share with you. But it will be enough to get you out of this Kingdom." She offers and I smile gratefully. I may prefer to run away now, but once I find my family and make sure they are safe, I will return back here and take my revenge. "I am going to find my other cousins." I tell my host. "That isn't safe since they must have been sold to the most ruthless people. But I am not going to stop you from trying your luck." She responds, looks out through the door and sighs at the sight of the rising sun. "Vampire Kings are mostly the ones that buy slaves instead of hiring servants. They like the unlimited power they have over slaves. But the arrogant alphas of the north also prefer slaves over actual paid servants." She adds.
