She Is Talia Abrams

TALIA'S POV I thought the soldiers were going to only hunt me during nights, but so far I have bypassed over a dozen of them and answered their questions about whether I have seen an incredibly beautiful and tall young lady with pitch black, wavy hair and bright brown eyes. Good thing that my very kind host advised me to dress like a window and hire a carriage instead of walking. I put on a hat and a veil to hide my face. The soldiers wouldn't expect a young lady to be dressed in the long dresses of a window anyway. I am headed to the north to start the search for my mother, Taylor and Michael. Hopefully they got bought by one of the arrogant alphas. My host did warn me that this was going to be a long journey. I thought she was exaggerating but I have been on this carriage for over eight hours and we are yet to get to the border. But I can now see a long line of posts far ahead so I think we are finally close. I think I will let myself sleep for the rest of the journey since I am now sure we will get there before nightfall. "You're falling asleep when the border line is right ahead?" My driver asks. "I am only letting my eyes close. I will be very awake when we get there." I assure him. "The palace of Silver Moon Pack is only a few metres from the border, don't fall asleep or I will have to wake you." He cautions. Not even a carriage driver likes dealing with windows. He probably thinks I will break down into tears anytime and he will have to start consoling me. "Don't worry, I am not that sad. My husband was a selfish man." I say and see his stiff shoulders relax. I close my eyes again and he doesn't stop me. I am able to rest for a while as the hope of being reunited with my family soon helps me relax. "Wake up! Now!" My driver calls urgently, makes me jump a little with alarm. I look ahead and see what must have frightened him. Four soldiers stand at the borderline, watching our carriage as it approaches. I had thought we would not meet more of them after bypassing the last group. But it appears that the new King doesn't want me to get away. Even when I am leaving his kingdom. "Be careful about what you tell them or we will be turned back." He warns as the horses halt few steps away from the soldiers. They step forward and start inspecting the carriage. I keep my eyes down so the hat can hide my face. "Why is the window traveling north?" One of them asks. There is suspicion in his voice that makes me worry that this group isn't going to let us through easily. "I am going to inform my in-laws of my husband's passing." I answer. The man steps closer as if he is trying to see through the veil. "You have an aura that is a bit too strong and pleasant for a window. Do you mind taking off the hat?" My heart beat immediately picks up speed and I have to take deep breathes to calm myself. "Your veil is also too dark, makes you look like you want to hide." He adds. I raise my eyes and glare at him. "I just lost my husband and you so heartlessly harass me?" I snap. The man only smirks, becomes even more suspicious. "Take off the veil or you're not getting past these posts!" He snarls. His counterparts also step closer and my driver tenses. There is no doubt that they are not letting us through unless they confirm that I am not who they are looking for. Unfortunately I am exactly who they are looking for. I have however travelled too far to accept being turned back. We are already at the border so we won't encounter more of them once we get past the posts. Magnifying their feelings of joy or distress would not work to my advantage right now. I have no wish to hurt anyone but I have got no other option except to magnify their pain. "Step out of the carriage, now!" Another soldier orders. I push back my veil back and take off my hat so they can see my face and hair. They all gasp in shock, including my driver. "So it's indeed you." The first soldier hisses with a smirk. "Get off the carriage!" He orders. "Go tell his Majesty that I, Talia Conrey Abrams hereby reject him as my mate." I say. "You're insane! Step off now!" The soldiers try to reach for me. I find the little pains that they may not even be aware of and magnify them to a point that it becomes excruciating and they all fall to the ground, writhing. "Let's keep going." I tell my astounded driver. He hesitates for a moment. Then probably gets afraid that I may hurt him as well and stirs the horses into motion. I only let the soldiers stop feeling the pain when the carriage gets past the borderline and I feel certain that they cannot come after us anymore. "I am not going to hurt you. I only hurt those soldiers because they were going to kill me." I say to my driver when I notice that his hands are shaking. "You're Talia Abrams?" He asks in a trembling voice. "Yes. I am however not the evil woman they say I am. If I was I would have killed those soldiers." I answer. "Are you still going to pay me?" "Of course. I will give you the money once we get to Silver Moon Palace." I state. * * * * * EVAN'S POV I was so convinced that my parents are keen on finding my mate until these idiots walked in here to inform me that she has crossed the northern border. "So a young girl managed to outrun the four of you and cross the border line?" I ask the four men standing in front of me with gloomy faces. "She is not who we thought she is, sir. She has got extraordinary powers just like you. She made us feel pain that we were not feeling before." One answers. Wow! If those aren't the best news my hears have heard in five years. My mate is as uniquely created as me. No doubt she was made to be my other half. I got to get out of this office and find her myself. My parents may be trying but they have clearly failed. "There is something else you should know sir." The same man speaks again. "What?" I ask impatiently. "She rejected you." He states and my heart feels like it's cracking. She isn't at least giving me a chance to explain? I am sure she already declared that I am her enemy and not worthy of a chance. I would probably feel the way if I were in her situation. She has misunderstood everything and already hates me. But it will only take a little explanation to change that. "It doesn't matter since she didn't say it directly to me." I tell the soldier. He still appears troubled. I think there is something he is holding back. "Is there something you're not telling me?" I question and he hesitantly nods his head. "When she stated her rejection she used the names 'Talia Conrey Abrams', not Hilda." I get totally confused for a while. Then it suddenly dawns on me that she could indeed be Talia Abrams. The girl we executed three years ago! The realisation makes my whole body tense. I have been missing a mate for all those years because she was dead. Because we killed her!
