CHAPTER 3

I carried the breakfast tray to Lada's room. The family wasn't having breakfast together and I was glad. I hadn't recovered fully from the sight of Don Adrik yesterday and I didn't want to go there and stare at him like a fool. I dropped the tray on the bed and opened the curtains. Lada sat in bed and rubbed her eyes. She went to the bathroom and came out after doing her business. I stood in the corner while she had her meal. After she was done eating, I took the dishes to the kitchen and went back to the room. The rest of the girls were already there and Kristal was standing in my space. I took fast steps to her and held her hand tightly just as she wanted to open my bedside drawer. "What are you looking for" "What are you hiding" she smiled sweetly. "That's not your business" the others kept quiet and focused on us. "Well it'll be. When I find out what you're hiding" she moved closer to me. "I saw you and Master Colton. I wonder what Madam Ekaterina will think" I smiled at her. "You saw nothing. Don't get in my way" she laughed and walked away flipping her hair in my face. I itched to grab her hair and slam her face against the wall but I held myself back. She was going to be a problem. I didn't want her blabbing about rubbish and getting me kicked out before I completed my mission. I looked at her pretty face and shook my head. Too bad she had to die. Loyalty was everything to all mafia families especially the Kamenev. A family member is killed once they betray the family much less us common servants. After my squabble with Kristal, I paid close attention to her for a few days. She was a busy body and it was going to cost her her life. She walked with her head and shoulders higher than they should be. And I knew a thousand ways to deal with her. A small party was going to be held tonight and we were going to attend but still as servants. Kristal as usual was hyper about it and kept talking about how she was going to catch the eyes of one of the wealthy men and be whisked away. Agrafena called the six of us and we stood in a line. "As you know, there's a party tonight. Friends and foes will be there. Remember the rules and do not say a thing about this family to anybody" we nodded and we were dismissed. I took the back stairs to Lada's quarters. It was rarely used but today, two people were there. I saw the faces of the two guards and hid myself to hear them better. They were talking about a shipment of drugs. The speaker told the other person that only a few people knew about it and shouldn't mention it to another. I left immediately I heard that. A shipment. My mind was cooking up ideas. The shipment was not my business. Hell matters concerning Adrik was not my business but I was going to use it for my current mission. I used the main stairs instead and went to Lada's room. I cleaned quickly and changed her sheets. She went out for lunch with her friends so I was free until tonight. I sent the sheets to the laundry and returned to my room. Kristal was sucking face with someone in the hallway. I rolled my eyes and continued walking. They heard my footsteps and he pulled away from her. I looked at his face and he was one of the guards at the back stairs. "What are you looking at?" Kristal said rudely and stood protectively in front of her man. I smiled sweetly at the two of them and continued back to my room. I closed the door behind me and smiled widely. I had a brilliant plan. Lada still didn't return for the party so I was going to serve drinks to VIPS at the party. The rest of the girls went with their masters and mistress to serve them. The Kamenev's in all their glory made their entrance and the guests went over to each of them to greet them. Now I know nothing about their friends or foes and didn't want to make a mistake. So I took a big risk. I stood close to where Don Adrik stood. All dons present were surely going to greet him. Most times, you could tell how good or bad the relationship between people are when they greet each other. Don Adrik didn't give any smile or frown but those greeting him did. I watched the greetings and finally found who I wanted. Don Denzel. He looked over eager to please the Don. Smiling and laughing at his own jokes and for the first time, I saw an emotion on the Don's face. Annoyance. Denzel didn't seem to care he kept on talking until he was escorted away by a guard. I followed him and served him a drink. He took it in one gulp and cursed. "Stupid d**k. Feels too proud. I wish I could hurt him" "Are you talking to me?" He looked at me "Not you girl. Find me a dancer" "I will" I smiled. I spotted Kristal and went over to her. "A man has requested for you" "Who did?" Too eager. "He's a Don" "Really?" She squealed. She looked very happy. If only she knew. I pointed to him but her face fell. "I have to attend to madam Ekaterina" "Don't bother. I'll do it for you. Enjoy yourself" "You're helping me?" She looked puzzled. "You want to leave this place?" "Yes I do" "Then go" I smiled as she went to him. You will leave this place definitely. I kept an eye on them while I continued serving drinks. Everybody saw them together and that was all I needed. She spent the rest of the night with him and I couldn't be any happier.
