CHAPTER 4

Conscience they say, is a device that doesn't keep you from doing anything, but stops you from enjoying it. I had lost my conscience and nothing was going to stop me from enjoying what I was about to do. "I want to be your apprentice" "I can't pay you" "I just want to learn from you" "But you know you can't practice. It's illegal" "I don't want to. I just want to learn" and so learn i did. Learning about different drugs and combinations that could kill or drive a person insane slowly. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. And nobody had seen a fury like mine. I sent Denzel's name to my help outside and gave him instructions on what to do. I received a call two hours later. "It's done" I hung up and disposed the phone. I smiled. I just needed to wait. Kristal sauntered in and moved to Githa's space. She opened her drawers and pulled it open, throwing things on the floor. Githa stood behind her begging her to stop. "Where is it? I know you took it" "I don't know what you're talking about" she sounded close to tears. I looked at Chalee and Germain but they didn't look like they wanted to help. They didn't want to cross Kristal. If Lyndsay was here she would have done something. I didn't want to interfere but I couldn't stand her oppressing somebody. I held her wrist tightly "she said she doesn't have it" "What's it to you?" I raised my brows. She pulled her wrist out of my grip and rubbed it. "I'm going to be leaving soon. I can't stand any of you" she kicked Githa's worn out jewelry box and the contents spilled on the floor. An old earring and a faded picture squeezed inside. Kristal sauntered out of the room and slammed the door. "Thank you" she said in a small voice. "Pick up your things" I went back to my bed. Out of all the girls, she was the most quiet and Kristal's target. Germain was nosy, Lyndsay was crazy and Chalee... Well Chalee was normal. I only spoke to them when necessary. I wasn't here to make friends and I didn't need any nosy person poking into my business. As she was picking up her things, security guards barged into the room. They hauled us out of the room and to the basement. We were thrown roughly and we fell on the floor. "Get up" a woman's voice boomed. I stood on my feet and looked up at her face. She was pretty but her face held rage. She pushed us and that was when I saw the others standing in a corner. We went over to where they stood and Githa was already sobbing. I stood and faced the rest of the people in the room. Denzel was tied up and bloodied. Kristal's boyfriend was on his knees bloodied as well. Kristal was tied to a chair and tears streamed down her face. Understanding kicked in and I smiled. Ahhh... That was fast. I looked up and saw the Don looking at me. I dropped the smile and looked down. "You know the rules. Disloyalty is not an option in this household" "I didn't do it. I have no idea what you're talking about" Kristal was sobbing. The angry lady gave her a punch and I heard a sickening crack. Blood poured from her mouth and a bruise was probably starting to form. "You're f*****g a guard who knew about the shipment and you've been blabbing about leaving this place" another lady spoke up. "I said those things but I didn't do it" she was sobbing. "Fine. I believe you" Don Adrik spoke. "Don...." Mean lady spoke up. "Untie her" the guards untied her and she stood up. "Thank you" she stood shaking and trying to hold in her sobs. "I'll ask for the last time. What did you tell Denzel?" "I swear I....." BANG! She screamed and the other girls screamed her boy toy fell lifeless on the ground blood oozing through the hole in his head. I sighed inwardly. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time. A means to an end. She sobbed louder and hugged herself tightly. She was shaking and I saw the fear in her eyes. "Ahhh.. I'm feeling forgiving today. You say you didn't do it?" She nodded. "You'll walk over to your friends and you'll not look back. She nodded quickly and walked to us. When she was a few inches away, I saw the bruise under her eye. I saw relief in her eyes. She really didn't think she was going to walk away unharmed. Did she? I saw him move his hands and fire the gun then I heard the screams. She was close enough to where I stood and the blood splashed on me and then the hole in her head. I didn't even flinch as the blood touched me. I gave her an evil smile as life faded from her eyes. Blood pouring out from her mouth before she fell. Githa threw up and the others were trying to clean the blood from their face. "This is a lesson to any one who crosses me" his tone was deadly. Noted. Anyone who crosses me was going to get hurt too. "Get the f**k out" the girls hurried to leave the room and I helped Githa out. I caught the Don's eye once more before I left the basement. The other girls were in shock and I tried to keep the smile away from my face. One obstacle removed. I was supposed to feel guilty but I suppose I've lost my conscience. I had a mission. I was going to achieve my goal and I didn't care if I killed to achieve my goal. It didn't matter who died, I was going to have my revenge. I had lost something important too. I grew up too fast because of them. Their betrayal had cost me a lot and I had come too far. No matter what awaits me at the end, I was going to destroy them even if I died in the process.
