Patience was indeed a virtue and not a lot of people possessed it. It was something I never knew I had until I began planning. Sometimes, plans required patience to be successful. Bidding your time and waiting for the perfect moment to carry out your plan.
In as much as it was a virtue, it was torture. Telling me I cannot do things when I want to because it wasn't the right time. Patience is a virtue that carries a lot of wait. It serves only who stands and wait.
I sighed and sat in my chair. Moving into the house now was not right. As much as I want to make him uncomfortable and uneasy, it wasn't the time. The event and it's memory was still too fresh. Taking any step now will ruin me.
And so I wait. I have to be patient enough before I move in and patient to learn everything I needed before I made my move. I I caressed her chubby cheeks as she kicked the air. Her angelic face smiling at me . My lips curved upward in a smile.
"Don't worry baby. When the time is right, we shall strike"
When you want something no matter how long it takes, you'll do anything to get it. Learning the ways of the Kamenev had taken time but I had finally learnt it. But it still wasn't the right time to strike. It was important I learnt the roster of the security guards and a few other things. It could take months but I was ready to wait. I had waited for years what was a couple of months.
I trailed behind Lada as she sashayed down the hallway. She wanted to have a drink with her daughter and I was more than happy to be in their presence.
We came out through the back door and out into the courtyard. Ekaterina and her husband were already outside enjoying drinks.
"Starting without me?" they turned their attention to us and stood up.
"Mother" Ekaterina kissed her mother's cheeks.
"You're late" Ekaterina chided.
"Lada" Colton said at the same time.
She barely spared him a glance and answered her daughter. "I have to look my best" her daughter gave her a look and she sighed.
"Colton. A pleasure to see you" but you could tell from her voice that it was anything but a pleasure.
Lada Kamenev didn't exactly like her son-in-law but she had to give in to her daughter and let her marry him. To women like her, class was everything and her first daughter getting married to a nobody was something she didn't want.
But bring used to giving in to her daughter and doing what she wants, she was tolerating his existence. She took her seat and crossed her legs.
I turned and saw Colton looking at me, I raised a brow before turning to fill Lada's glass. I stole a glance at Colton and his eyes were still trained on me. I gave him a cold smile. Good he knew who I was. He looked uncomfortable sitting there while mother and daughter talked switching between Russian and English.
"Babe I have to go get that thing cleaned up"
"Right now? You can do that later"
"Let him go. He's barely contributing anything"
"Mama" she ignored her daughter and took a sip from her drink.
He kissed her and stood up "I'll be needing her to help me" all eyes turned to me.
"She's not ours"
"She looks more fit to clean" I scoffed lowly. I looked good to clean. Kristal who was on stand by didn't look like she wanted to clean either.
I expected Lada to object but she waved her hand dismissively when her daughter asked her. He walked away and I followed behind him. We passed servants in the hallway and they stopped to greet him.
While we moved, I discretely took note of the cameras in the hallways. We got to an empty hallway in their wing and he stopped. He turned slowly to face me with a scary look but i stood my ground. He stalked closer to me, invading my space and so I moved back slowly until I was backed into the wall.
He pressed his nose into my skin, inhaling my scent. I stood still as he continued. He stood upright and placed his hands against the wall caging me.
"What are you doing here?" I stayed silent staring at him.
He held my hair in his hands and inhaled it.
"Hmmmm... You smell just like her" and I lost it. I used my knee to hit him hard in his family jewels. He bent over in pain cupping his balls and I straightened my dress.
I bent to his ear and whispered "keep her out of your mouth or I'll do much worse" I left him bent over and groaning in pain. I sashayed out of the hallway with a smile on my face.
As I walked to the room I shared with the others, I saw the servants at the entrance rushing away and the guards lining up outside facing each other.
I stood behind a wall and his myself. The sound of a car pulling up was heard and then everything was quiet for a while before the sound of shoes were heard.
The first thing I saw was the black shoes, then my eyes trailed upwards taking in his long, powerful legs. His suit pants fit against thick corded legs. Then his pristine white shirts fitted against his muscular chest and arms.
And then his beautiful face. Strong angular jawline with high cheekbones, tanned skin and a perfect nose. His hair as dark as the night packed into a man bun and his eyes. God his eyes, the lightest blue. He stood well over 6ft and easily towered above everybody.
Men stood behind him looking almost as edible as he did. He stopped abruptly in the hallway and turned sharply to where I stood. I moved away quickly resting my back against the wall while my heart beat erratically.
I couldn't run. Everywhere was dead silent and my footsteps will surely be heard. The sounds of footsteps coming closer made my heart beat faster. He was getting closer and closer. I prayed silently for a miracle.
"Adrik" I held my breath and the footsteps paused.
"Mother" another footstep. I wanted to peep and see what direction his was taking but I stopped myself before I couldake such a foolish decision.
"No hugs for your mother?" the footsteps continued but this time, away from where I stood. Then a loud squeal came and more of the family members were out.
I breathed a sigh of relief and used their distraction as a chance to disappear. And for the first and last time, I was greatful to Lada Kamenev. I passed through the kitchen and into the room I shared with the others.
I sat on my head and slapped myself. Stupid. But that man was the finest being ever.
