Chapter 9: Day Nine *** “How are you feeling?” Edward asked with a concerned voice. “I’m fine, I just don’t really like going out at bars so late… It’s almost eleven at night.” Mason said as they entered the establishment. “We can go home if you want to.” Edward said as he held the other student’s hand. “Aren’t we supposed to be here for Mick and Lucas? I’ll stay, it’s not a big deal.” Mason said quietly so that only two of them could hear. “Do you secretly like Lucas? Why do you want to help him so much, even thought you don’t want to be here?” Edward asked just as quietly as the other person spoke to him. “None of your business.” Mason said and then waved at his friends after noticing them. ‘Still won’t tell me anything…’ Edward thought as he followed after the author. Meeting up with their friends they all had a good time talking to each other. However the atmosphere they had did not speak of a ‘date’, it was very friendly and carefree. There was no tension in the air or romantic emotions to speak of. * * * Soon enough it came time for them to go back home and Lucas had drank a bit too much… “It’s okay, I’ll bring him back myself.” Mason said as he stood up and tried to help Lucas get up. “I’ll help, it’s my fault he drank so much. I’ll carry him back, it’s close by anyway.” Mick said as he took Lucas on his back. “But, I don’t want to bother you-” Mason was about to say but was interrupted by the other student. “Come on, if he wants to give Lucas a piggyback ride home just allow him to do it. He feels guilty for allowing him to drink so much.” Edward quickly explained as he placed his hand on Mason’s shoulder. “Exactly, I’m redeeming myself~” Mick jokingly said, then after a short pause continued in a quieter voice. “…I also want to spend a bit more time with him.” ‘So he does have feelings for Lucas?’ Mason thought to himself as he watched the other male. ‘That, look in his eyes… Reminds me of how Edward looks at me…’ * * * Getting back to their apartment it was already past three in the morning. “Mick, Edward… Do you guys want to stay over? The dorms are pretty far away from here…” Mason felt bad for having them come all the way there, so he wanted to let them stay over and sleep well. “That would be a great help, I’m pretty tired myself…” Mick said as he yawned and stretched out his arms. “Then please stay, you can sleep on the beds in the bedroom like before.” Mason said as he went out to take out new sheets for the men. Soon after getting everything ready Mick went to sleep in the same room as Lucas and once again the other two students were left with each other. “So… Are you going to kick me again tonight?” Edward teasingly asked the other student. “Only if you try to kiss me again.” Mason quickly replied and couldn’t help but smile. ‘Wait… Why am I smiling as I remember that scene?’ “So you’re fine with me sleeping with you, but not with me kissing you? How pervy…” Edward said in a teasing tone. “Haha, very funny. How about I give you my husband pillow, you can kiss him as much as you want to.” Mason jokingly suggested as he took the pillow in his hands. “I’d rather have you though…” Edward said in a bit of a disappointed tone. “Honestly you’re lines are so cheesy that I can’t help but use them in my novels.” Mason remarked as he went to his desk and sat down. “Are you saying that I’m giving you inspiration for your novels?” Edward asked as he smirked at the student. “I hate to admit it but you do. I’ve been writing like crazy these past few days. I’m actually surprised myself…” Mason confessed as he opened his laptop and wrote his password. Then he gestured to the other male to come over. “Look, do you mind if I use your name? I really like the sound of it and it matched the character perfectly…” The author began explaining. “You can use my name. I’m happy to be in the novel of my favorite author.” Edward said with a bright smile on his face. ‘What’s with that stupidly happy expression? Is he so happy to be in ‘Takano Masamune’s novel? Wait, am I being jealous of myself right now?! No… Why would I be jealous? It feels weird.’ Mason couldn’t help but have complicated feelings about the situation. “Are you going to work again?” Edward asked while tilting his head lightly. He looked at the various folders and files the author had on the screen. ‘He’s really working hard, isn’t he…’ “Just a little bit more and then I’ll sleep for about five hours, then wake up to make breakfast…” Mason began counting down the things from his to-do list. “Do you always sleep so little and cook for Lucas before Uni?” Edward asked curiously. “Yes, it’s the usual…” Mason simply remarked. “What are you, his mom? You’re treating him like a kid.” Edward said as he flicked Mason’s forehead with his fingertips. “Ouch! He’s pretty much a kid still… I can’t help but care for him.” Mason said as he rubbed his forehead that had now had a red spot on it, it was clearly visible because of his pale white skin. “It’s good to be caring and all that… But how about caring a bit more about yourself as well? I don’t see you do anything else besides work, sleep, house chores…” Edward said with a bit of an annoyed tone. “What is it to you?” Mason questioned as he looked up at the other student. “Tomorrow… Let’s go on a date, just the two of us.” Edward said as he crossed his arms and patiently waited a response. “I don’t mind, but what for?” Mason questioned as he observed the other’s expression. “I’ll show you a good time. I have to score those boyfriend points you know?” Edward said with a smirk on his face that would suggest he was just teasing the other person. “Sure.” Mason said as he smiled as well. ‘I’ll go along with his whims for a bit…’
