Sophia pov.
I watched in awe as the witches and wizards threw balls of different colours and sizes at the dummies Wilma had placed. I could see that they were very talented. These magical skills when combined with the combat skills would make an expert warrior.
“What are those balls?” I asked Luke who was right beside me.
“Those are energy balls.” He said. “We will use them against the opponent in a fight to finish him off. Those energy balls will burn the opponent in the fire.” He said.
“Then he will die?” I asked.
Luke nodded.
“We will only use it in a war. The sole purpose of that is to kill and cause immense damage.” He said.
I nodded.
“To be honest, I would prefer to shift into my wolf and tear my opponent down,” I told him.
He chuckled. “Yeah. Werewolves are ferocious fighters.” He said.
I smiled. He was right. I would love to taste the blood of an enemy. For me, it is more satisfying to feel my enemy’s death in my own hands.
“What do you think about the combat training?” he asked me.
“It was good but it could be better,” I told him. “Do you want to wrestle with me?” I asked my eyes still focused on the different spells and magic tricks I saw.
“Yeah. I would love to. But maybe after our parents go back to the pack. We can wrestle in our room.....you know...on the bed.” He said.
I snapped my head towards him. He was smirking at me mischievously. My eyes widened and my face heated up.
“No. Not like that. I mean.... ugh..... Luke!” I covered my face with my hands, smiling and feeling a little embarrassed at what he had just said.
He laughed and removed my hands from my face. He cupped my face and looked straight into my eyes.
“Sophie. You are my mate. You are my better half. You don’t have to be embarrassed when you are with me. I love you. Ok? I promise to love you forever.” He said slowly and softly.
I felt myself calm down at his words. My heart warmed up and it became a lot easier to breathe.
“I love you too Luke,” I whispered. He placed his lips on mine and took his time to savour my lips. I closed my eyes and enjoyed his kiss. I would want to cherish every moment with him. I want to be with him for as long as I am alive. My hand involuntarily held on to his hair, pulling him closer to me. His hands were already supporting my back.
He let me go after a while and held me on my hips. “Don’t be embarrassed around me.” He said. “I want you to be straightforward.”
I chuckled. “Luke,” I called him. “Let’s wrestle for real. You know like a duel.”
He nodded. “yeah. Let’s do it.”
I paused for a while. My eyes were still on him. “And maybe after that, we can do that wrestling on the bed too,” I said looking at him. I wanted to see his reaction. Perhaps I sounded seductive. I saw his pupils dilate and his eyes grow darker with lust. He took a deep breath and gulped hard.
I chuckled and ran my fingertips on the bare skin on his chest, where he had two buttons of his shirt undone.
“Not now lover boy. We have a picnic waiting for us.” I winked at him with a smirk on my face and turned around to leave.
I heard him groan a little. I knew it would affect him. The mate bond made it easier. I chuckled inwardly. Teasing him was fun.
Luke pov.
I watched her walk away. I couldn’t keep my eyes off her swaying hips. I groaned as I felt an uneasy twitch in my pants.
She just left me like this. And I can’t even go after her. I would attract too much attention. I placed my hands on the wall and looked at my knights who were almost done with their training. My mind was still on the woman who I grew up with. The one I had fallen in love with, way before I knew what love was. My mate. My queen Sophia.
I looked in the direction she went and smirked. Oh, I am going to see who knows how to tease.
“Your highness.”
I was brought back to reality when knight major William addressed me.
I looked at him and nodded. “We feel honoured to have you and our queen watch our training.” He said. Knight major Jaime approached us.
I nodded. “I see all of you work hard. Keep it up.” I told them.
“Your majesty.” William bowed down as his eyes looked at someone behind me.
“It was good training. I like how you all push your limits.” It was Sophia. I looked around. She had come back.
“Can I make a request?” William said and I nodded.
“We know werewolves are better at combat fighting. We would like to learn anything new we can from you, your highness.” He said as he bowed down.
I smiled and looked at her. She looked happy and surprised at the same time. She looked at me.
“If you want to, you can,” I said.
“Well, why not?” she answered. “I think you also should come Luke.” She said.
I shrugged. “Ok.”
William grinned. “This is great. I am looking forward to this session.” He exclaimed. He bowed again and turned around to walk away.
“Come on Jaime let’s go and tell everyone.” He said as he held her hand and pulled her towards the knights who were now leaving the grounds.
“Are they a couple?” she asked me when they were a good distance away.
I shrugged. “William has been pursuing her for a while. I don’t know much. I try to stay away from their personal lives.” I told her.
She nodded and took me a hand.
“Let’s go. We should go soon. Then we will have more time with them. I most probably won’t see them after they leave for a long time.” She said she pulled me towards the palace.
Jaime pov.
William dragged me away from them. I looked around and saw that the wolf dragged king Luke away from here.
I resisted and forcefully removed my hand from his hold.
“What were you thinking?” I asked angrily. I was furious. I was fuming.
He looked confused. “What?” he shrugged. “I thought it would be great to train from them. She would have a better experience at her pack. Werewolves are real ferocious warriors.” He said. “I thought.....”
I felt my anger boil.
“Shut the f**k up William. You always care about what you think. What you want. It is always you, you and you. You know what? You are the most annoying person I know. You infuriate me. I hate you so much I just wish I wouldn’t see you anymore.” I screamed.
I knew I was attracting a crowd around us. It was a good thing that the royals were out of earshot.
“William, do me a favour and forget about me. Forget that I exist. What you think and what you do only brings discomfort to me. I don’t want to train with her. Do you understand? I am fine with the training we are doing now.” I continued yelling at him.
I didn’t care about the murmurs around us. I saw that William was completely shocked.
“But...” he tried to say something.
I hushed him. “No. I don’t want to hear anything. I honestly wish I didn’t have to work with an i***t like you.” I said in anger. “Leave me alone,” I said and stomped towards the knights ‘quarters leaving him dumbfounded.
I looked back. I had never seen him look so broken. I couldn’t care less. I saw his buddies were crowding around him to console him. I huffed angrily as I kicked a rock on my way. I wish he would just leave me alone.
Narrator
William was left shocked and heartbroken. Never was he scolded at like that. And when the one he had started to have feelings for, screamed at him like that in front of everyone, he was left speechless. He felt ruined and as if she just crushed his heart under her feet before throwing it away.
His friends surrounded him. They knew that he must be hurting bad.
“Hey, let’s hit the pub and enjoy tonight.” They said, in an attempt to make him feel better.
He sighed and nodded. However, it didn’t pacify his weeping heart. It was crushed. Jaime’s words had poisoned it. He kept wondering what he did for her to hate him like that.
He knew that she was not interested in him. But he kept hoping that his constant tries will soften her. That perhaps she will give him a chance. But now he is left with nothing. No hope. And no peace in his heart.
