Chapter Ten

1795 Words
Bonnie texted me about her, Elena, and Matt doing something special today for Caroline. At the same time, I was busy making birthday pancakes and toast for her. After she ate, and I wished her a happy birthday, she left for school. Shortly after, I answer a knock on my front door to find Klaus on my porch. I step out of my front door to greet him. Allison: “Hey, what are you doing here?” Klaus: “I was hoping to spend some time with you. I sent Daniel on an errand, so you won’t have to be worried about him for the day. May I come in?” Allison: “Unfortunately for you, I am working right now. Maybe you can come back in an hour or two.” Klaus: “Alright, would you care to join me at the fundraiser tonight?” I giggle as I smile, making him smile. Allison: “So you’re asking permission now. Well, I kind of have to go anyway. Why not? I’d be honored if you would escort me for the evening.” Klaus: “The honor is all mine, love. Shall I pick you up around 6?” Allison: “That would be perfect. But don’t even think about buying me an outfit; I already have one for tonight.” He smiles as he chuckles at my response. Klaus: “I promise.” He kisses my hand before taking his leave. I go to the Lockwoods to help set up for the Wickery Bridge fundraiser/Founders Council Meeting. After a few hours of that, I return home to get ready. Just as I finish getting dressed, my doorbell rings. I look at the clock to see it is precisely 6 p.m. on the dot. I slightly bit my lower lip before going down and answering the door. When I open it, I find Klaus with a bouquet of carnations and a cheeky smile on his stupidly charming face. Klaus: “Good evening, love. You look as lovely as ever.” I stifle back a giggle as I smile at him. Allison: “You look quite charming yourself. You didn’t have to get me flowers.” Klaus: “It was my pleasure, love.” Allison: “Come in while I put them in a vase.” He hands the flowers to me as he enters my house, and I put the flowers in a vase with water. After setting the vase down, we head to the Lockwood’s for the fundraiser. Upon our arrival, he holds his hand out to me, which I gladly take, and escorts me inside. When we enter, we find Carol Lockwood, who is surprised to see me with someone she has never met before. Carol: “Allison, it's a pleasure to see you again. Who, may I ask, is your date?” Allison: “Good evening, Mrs. Lockwood. This is Klaus Mikaelson. Nik, this is Carol Lockwood, our town’s Mayor, and Tyler’s mother.” She looks stunned but keeps a calm mask. Klaus: “It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Carol. I was wondering where I could make my donation?” Carol: “Oh, right this way.” She and Klaus start conversing, and he charms her quite well after he makes his big donation, wowing everyone. I can see Daniel lurking around in the crowd of people. Klaus: “You know, when I think of a mayor, I think of an old fuddy-duddy. But you really have changed my perception.” Carol: “Oh, thank you.” Damon interrupts their conversation as he is about to continue charming her, much to my pleasure. I don’t know how much more of him charming her I could take. Damon: “Look what the cat dragged in. Nice vest.” Klaus: “Thank you very much. Good to see you, Damon.” Damon: “Allison, don’t you look nice.” Allison: “Thank you, Damon. You look pretty nice, too.” I feel Klaus’ arm come around to hold me close with his hand resting on my hip. Meanwhile, Damon is smirking. Daniel brings three glasses of wine, which Klaus, Carol, and I accept. Klaus: “Carol and I were discussing if you would be tonight’s other big benefactor.” Carol: “What do you say, Damon? Klaus has made a very generous pledge. You know how we’re chomping at the bit to begin the renovation.” Damon: “Hmm. Carol, don’t take this the wrong way…but do you realize you’ve been kissing the ass of an immortal hybrid who ruined your son’s life?” Klaus: “Oh come now, some might say I saved it, what with all that nasty full-moon business. I never had to go through it more than twice, to be honest, but still, I’m very sympathetic.” Carol sadly nods her head while thinking of Tyler. Carol: “Klaus has promised to protect Tyler, Damon. And our town.” Damon and Klaus are just staring each other down. Damon: “From who? His hybrids are the ones this town needs protection from.” Klaus: “Well, I’d have no use for them if your brother would kindly return my family.” Damon: “Not gonna happen.” Klaus: “That’s what I thought. Which is why I’ve come to an agreement with the Mayor. You and the Council stay out of my hair, and I’ll stay out of yours. Your town gets protected, my hybrids get left alone, and everybody will be happy. All you have to do is get Stefan to stop decapitating my friends.” Carol: “Please, Damon, just get your brother under control…or the Council will be forced to take action against him.” Damon: “You’ve gotta be kidding me.” Klaus: “Oh, come on, mate. Give peace a chance.” Allison: “Sorry, Damon. It was the best deal they could make.” I can tell by the face he has that he’s gonna say something he doesn’t mean. Damon: “I’ll see what I can do.” He makes his donation. Damon: “Allison, have you seen your mother around? I’d love to have a conversation with her.” Allison: “I haven’t seen her yet, but I know she’s here somewhere.” Carol: “I believe she is out back.” Damon: “Thanks, Carol.” I sip my wine as Damon walks away, bracing myself for more of Klaus charming other women. A few minutes later, I’ve had enough of him turning on his charm for other women, so I decide to take a break from it. Allison: “I’m gonna go find my mom.” Klaus: “Alright, love. I’ll be here when you return.” I find my mom patrolling outside on the balcony. Allison: “Hey, Mom.” Elizabeth: “Hi, sweetheart. I saw you with your date inside. Didn’t want to intrude. Can’t say I really approve of him.” Allison: “I know how you must feel about him after the long summer away I had. He is trying to make up for that, and he hasn’t harmed me at all. He's actually protecting me.” Elizabeth: “Yes, Damon told me about the bodyguard.” Allison: “Yeah, can’t say I was a fan of that one. He went to the mall with me and Caroline yesterday.” Elizabeth: “I may not be his biggest fan, but I would like to at least meet him.” Allison: “Of course. I’ll just go get him.” As I turn to get him, I hear his voice behind me. Klaus: “Hello, love. Hope I’m not interrupting.” Allison: “No, I was just coming to get you. Mom, this is Klaus Mikaelson. Nik, this is my mother, Elizabeth Forbes, and the Sheriff.” They shake hands. Elizabeth: “Nice to finally meet you.” Klaus: “It’s my pleasure to meet you, Elizabeth. I hope you will trust me to look after your daughter.” Elizabeth: “I’m not sure how I feel about that yet. However, thank you for keeping her safe for the last four months.” Klaus: “It was my honor. I had been searching for her for so long that I could not help but whisk her away. For which I feel I must apologize to you. I am sorry if I worried you by doing that.” Elizabeth: “Well, I can’t say it’s okay, but as long as you protect her, we won’t have any problems.” He takes my hand in his as he looks her in the eyes. Klaus: “I promise to do so until my dying breath.” He then looks me in the eye as he kisses my hand. I can’t help the blush that dusts my cheeks at his actions, and I look away, which causes him to give a cocky smirk. My mother accepts this and walks away, leaving me with him on the balcony. Klaus: “I meant every word, Allison.” Allison: “I believe you.” He caresses my cheeks before kissing my lips, and I can’t help but return the kiss. Once we separate, we return inside and converse with a few people until Damon interrupts, pulling Klaus away. It seems urgent, so I make a mental note to ask about it later. At the same time, I continue talking with the Mayor about landscaping. After a while, I see a frustrated Klaus come from outside. He gestures to Daniel to follow him, and as the two of them go upstairs, I excuse myself and follow them. When I reach the top of the stairs, I see an upset Daniel approaching me, and he hurries past me. I continue to the room he just came out of, where I find a distressed Klaus pacing. Allison: “Nik, what’s going on?” He pauses as he looks over to me. He walks over, making me nervous, closes the door, and pulls me into his arms. He just holds me for a moment, and I put my arms around him, seeing he needs some comfort. Klaus: “Stefan may have won this battle, but I will win the war.” Allison: “What happened?” He holds me at arm's length. Klaus: “Stefan almost killed Elena tonight. He would have driven her off Wickery Bridge if I didn’t send my hybrids out of town.” Allison: “You can’t be serious.” Klaus: “Unfortunately, I am being serious.” Allison: “It’s okay. He didn’t kill her, right?” Klaus: “No, I agreed to his terms right before he did it. I will be guarding you myself from now on.”
