Chapter Three

1974 Words
Katherine sits at the other end of the apartment, in a chair, not wanting to be close to Klaus, while Stefan is at the opposite end of the island from Klaus. We watch them, hoping to god that Klaus won’t kill Stefan. Klaus cuts his hand and drains some of his blood into a little bottle. Klaus: “There it is. You want to save your brother? How ‘bout a decade-long bender? And I have big plans for you when we leave this town.” Stefan: “I’m not like that anymore.” Klaus: “Well, that’s too bad. You would’ve made a hell of a wingman.” He starts pouring his blood down the sink. Stefan: “Wait.” He stops pouring it. Klaus: “Now that’s more like it. I want you to join me for a drink.” Klaus slides a blood bag to Stefan. As Stefan rips the cap off the bag, I get nervous. He takes a small sip of it. Klaus: “Finish it. All of it.[Stefan hesitates] You do everything I say, and I save your brother. That’s the deal.” Stefan then drinks the entire blood bag and throws it onto the counter before Klaus slides him another. Klaus: “Again.” Stefan struggles to do it again, trying not to lose control. At some point during the following five bags of blood, he ends up on his hands and knees on the floor, trying his absolute best to not lose control of himself. Klaus: “You’re very cooperative. It’s almost as if you’re enjoying it.” Klaus drops another blood bag in front of Stefan. Stefan: “No more. Not until you give me the cure.” Klaus: “Not until we make a deal. It’s your choice, Stefan. You can either remain here living your life in Mystic Falls or embrace what you truly are, leave town with me, and save your brother’s life.” He bends down and holds out the blood bag to Stefan. He quickly grabs it from Klaus and devours it within seconds. Klaus: “That’s the spirit.” Klaus gets up and walks over to where he left the little bottle of blood as he looks at Katherine. Klaus: “Sweetheart…” He grabs the bottle, walks over, and guides Katherine out of the chair by her neck. Klaus: “Take this over to Damon and come right back.” Katherine: “You want me to leave?” Stefan: “No.” Klaus: “Yes. And if I were you…[She vamp-speeds out with the bottle] I’d hurry.” He sits in the seat she was just in. Stefan: “She’ll never take it to him.” He shrugs, and I struggle not to cry, thinking I have just lost a close friend. Klaus: “Let’s get going, shall we? Stefan, pick up my brother and follow me.” He walks over to me, picking me up as Stefan picks up Elijah and the two vamp-speed us to a warehouse, where Klaus sets me down. I take a few steps from him as he approaches an empty coffin. Stefan puts Elijah in the coffin, and Klaus stands over him as Stefan comes to my side. Klaus: “I suppose, brother, you’ve been reunited with our family.” He shuts the coffin as I realize he kept his word to Elijah, in a very sick and twisted way. Klaus: “Put him with the others. We’re leaving town tonight.” Two men put Elijah’s coffin in a shipping crate with four other coffins, and Klaus walks over to us as Stefan’s phone vibrates. Klaus: “So, did Katerina make it in time?” Stefan: “You won’t be seeing her again, you know.” I sigh in relief, knowing that Damon is alive. Klaus: “Because she’s on vervain? I’ve been around a long time, Stefan. I rarely get played for a fool. Besides, she won’t get far. You’ll help me see to that.” Allison: “This threat is the only one I’m okay with so far.” Klaus smirks as he eyes me until Stefan walks a few steps toward him. Stefan: “What is it you really want from us?” Klaus: “All will be explained in time once we leave this tragic little town.” Stefan: “Then are we done here? Can we go?” Klaus: “Not quite. You see, I have a gift for you.[turns to a girl we didn’t notice before] Come here, sweetheart. Don’t be afraid.” It’s obvious he compelled her because of how nervous she is. Klaus: “See, I want to make sure you honor our deal…that you’ll be of use to me.[He bites into her neck] I could have compelled her to behave, but a real ripper enjoys the hunt.” He lets go of her, and she starts running while screaming; Stefan attacks her, drinking all her blood. Klaus pulls me to his side as he enjoys watching Stefan’s work. When Stefan is done, he comes back to us, with the blood dripping from his lips and the look on his face. It's the first time I've ever been afraid of Stefan. Klaus: “Now we can go.” We have been on this journey for almost three months, and I am honestly surprised I’m not dead. We’ve been hunting for werewolves all this time. Klaus has been scary yet caring at times. When I finally pulled out my phone, he caught me, but he said I could call my mom to let her know I’d be leaving town, and I'm safe. She wasn’t happy about it, but it’s not as if she can go against the original hybrid. I was surprised he let me keep my phone afterward, though. He stopped killing people before me after figuring out how uncomfortable it made me. Whenever we stopped at a hotel or motel, Klaus would get two rooms, one for Stefan and one for him & me. Another thing I am surprised about is Klaus has never tried to compel me. While I know most people would probably get Stockholm syndrome after a few months with their captors, I don’t have it. Although I guess it could be primarily because I get to watch him order Stefan to torture and kill people. If it weren’t for that, I would admit that I find his appearance quite appealing, and sometimes he can be quite the gentleman, to me at least. But I don’t believe I could ever love someone who tortures my friends and family. Last night, they interrogated two women in Memphis, Tennessee. And now, we are in a bar called Southern Comfort in Tulley, Tennessee. I am sitting at a table with the two of them till Ray, aka the werewolf Klaus has been looking for, finally walks in. They get up and block his only path out before he becomes uncooperative. It appears they are going to torture him now. I can tell because Stefan just pulled out the wolfsbane. Klaus comes over with two rocks glasses and a bottle of bourbon, joining me at the table to watch Stefan torture the werewolf. Klaus: “This should be fun. Care for a drink, love?” Allison: “Sure, make it a double. I’m gonna need it.” He chuckles as he pours a double shot for both of us. I don’t tend to drink a lot around him, mostly because I know I am a lightweight. But if I have to sit here and endure the tortured screams of someone who doesn’t deserve it, I need to be drunk. Unfortunately, I’m not the sleepy or angry type of drunk. And maybe I forgot what kind of drunk I am when I started drinking. I am now three double shots of bourbon in, and Stefan has only been torturing Ray for an hour, but I am starting to feel numb and as light as a feather. That’s how I know I took too many too fast, and it’s too late now; I’m about to be blackout drunk. I look up and see Stefan leaving. Allison: “Where’s my grumpy friend going?” Klaus: “To see his brother for a bit.” He continues and finishes his torture of the werewolf before sitting at my table again. Klaus: “Are you alright, love?” He puts a hand on my arm, looking me in the eyes. Allison: “Hm, you have pretty eyes. Your hands are warm, too. I want a hug.” He chuckles before pulling his hand away. Klaus: “I believe you are drunk, love. I guess I know your limit now.” Allison: “Oh really. And just what are you gonna do about it?” Klaus: “Take the bottle away.” Allison: “What about my hug?” Klaus: “I don’t believe you are ready for that.” I huff before standing up, putting my hands on his legs, and looking him in the eyes. Allison: “I’ll show you what I’m ready for.” I kiss him on the lips before pulling away and smirking at him. Allison: “Bet you didn’t think I was ready for that.” Klaus: “No, I most certainly did not.” He chuckles, and I sit back down. I grab another shot, but it is snatched from my hand. Allison: “What the hell?!” Klaus: “You don’t need it.” He takes the shot, and I growl at him before straddling him. Allison: “How dare you steal my shot.” Klaus: “There's not much you can do about it.” Allison: “I could always do this.” I make out with him, caressing his cheeks with my hands, and he wraps his arms around me, pulling me tight against his body. Every touch I receive from him feels like he sets every nerve in my body on fire, and I never want it to end. After what feels like only a few seconds, we separate for air, and he puts me in my seat. Klaus: “We can’t do this right now.” Allison: “Why not?” Klaus: “As much as I would love to continue, you’re too drunk to make that decision.” Stefan interrupts my train of thought as I was about to say something. Klaus: “You’re back.” Stefan: “Did you doubt me?” Klaus: “Not for a second. I knew you’d pass the test. You still care for your brother, for your old life.” Stefan: “No, I don’t care about anything anymore.” Klaus: “You put on a good show, Stefan. I almost believe you. Let’s hope, for your brother’s sake, he does.[Stefan sits beside me] You never stop caring about family, do you? But every time you feed, the blood makes it easier to let go.” Allison: “Hm… Stefan, why’d you leave? I missed you.” I hug him, but for some reason, I hear a growl. I pay no mind to it as I giggle at Stefan’s worried look when he holds me at arm's length. Stefan: “Allison, are you okay?” Allison: “I’m great. I feel so light.” Klaus: “She’s drunk. I had to wait for you, so I can take her back to the hotel while you watch over Ray.” Klaus picks me up bridal style and walks me out of the bar. Allison: “Mmm, your arms feel better than Stefan’s. So warm. Please hold me.” I feel his chest rumble as I lay my head on him. Allison: “You’re very charming and sexy.” Klaus: “Goodnight, love.” I fall asleep to the sound of his heartbeat.
