Confusions...

"In a situation like this we are all constantly exposed to danger and death... Especially when we don't know the enemy..."

Mira's pov

"Lucas is a great man! Lucky you, you have a great father in law!" Cassie says breathless as I attack her once more.

"Cas focus, you are losing!" I groan and jump on her.

"s**t Alpha!" she exclaims and we fall on the ground with me on top of her.

"Oh God! You are ruining it." I murmur and get off of her.

I sit next to her on the ground and she also sits up sighing annoyed. I giggle and tap her knee as she starts laughing and punches my arm playfully but I shake my head smirking and look around us smiling. 

I am glad I asked from her to come for a walk in the forest today. It has a beautiful day, everything is green and peaceful and it is not extremely warm. Only Cassie could come with me, we have just finished the training for today and Liam with James had some pack business to check. The others have different program with the trainings and my dad with April is with Ethan, Angel and Liam's father.

Now, you will ask me why I attacked Cassie and you will be right... I just wanted to tease her a bit because from the moment she and James marked each other and mated she has lost her mind and she is a failure at training and fighting. 

It is funny...

"Mira..."

"Yeah?" I say as I turn to look at her.

"Are you happy? I know you have everything you ever wanted but..." she murmurs and pauses awkwardly.

"I have one more thing I need to do in order to be alright Cas... I want to find this bastard and kill him." I say through my teeth and my hands turn into fists.

"Baby... We need to be careful... You are his target and he seems to be too dangerous. We are all very worried, especially Liam, let us all help you the more we can."

"But you do Cas! We can't do anything else. The two prisoners know nothing useful except from what they said that day. We know no one who can help us... So... We just wait and see..." I murmur frustrated.

"Mira, promise me that you are going to be extremely careful, please! I am not going to make it if anything happens to you. None of us..."

"Shh... Nothing is going to happen to me, I am not that easy to take down you know..." I whisper and I hug her tightly.

"I won't leave you alone, I promise you, I will always be by your side, I will always help you!"

I stare into her eyes worried and a bad feeling starts building up... 

It's like something is coming quickly and we can't stop it. I don't want her to be like this, I don't want her to be in danger at all. She is my sister, my supporter, my best friend, the one that was always with me and helped me when I was desperate. She is not just a Beta, she is my strength, the one that was always believing in me when I wasn't in case to support my own self. She knows me better than anyone else, even my parents doesn't know my thoughts and reactions like Cas does.

"We lived everything together until now and I am not planning to leave you live anything without me for the rest of our lives sister! I follow you everywhere and always." She says and sighs ready to cry.

"If anything happens to me I want you to stay back and take care of my kids and Liam with James. I trust you two more than anyone else, you know me and Liam, you were always with us and the kids adore you! You won't put your life in danger." I say seriously and she shakes her head negatively.

"Cassie it's an order from your Alpha! I am not going to discuss it more and I am not asking you if you like it or not!" I say again strictly and she starts shaking while getting angry.

"Mira cut the crap with me, you know I can't leave my Alpha." She protests.

"And you know that your Alpha's word is final and you have to do as she says!" I reply and get ready to say more when Moira starts growling.

"Cooper!" we exclaim together and Cassie seems to realize it too as she growls and stands up immediately.

"He is back. s**t!" she groans and gets ready to attack him from the direction that he is coming.

"Cassie, calm down." I whisper and pass by her waiting nervously Cooper as his scent becomes stronger second by second.

"I want to kill this man, I don't like him Mira! Be careful of him..." She says through her teeth and her eyes turn black.

"Cas let me handle him, don't do a thing."

"I won't let this maniac touch you!" she groans and the moment she finishes her sentence Cooper gets out of a tree some meters away from us wearing only his jeans.

I stiffen a bit awkwardly and Cassie growls warningly as he walks to us staring at me in the eyes constantly. 

He is smiling and his blonde hair is shining at the sun, he looks happy, relieved, different...

"This is weird..." Moira murmurs annoyed and growls lowly.

"Stay right there Cooper. Don't come any closer!" Cassie shouts and takes one step in front wanting to protect me.

"Cassie... Are you alright?" he asks confused but keeps on walking to us.

"Where have you been all these days Cooper? It has been almost 9 days." I say worried and pass by Cassie walking to him with slow steady steps.

"Mira!" she shouts but I raise my hand and stop her with my eyes never leaving Cooper's.

"I am sorry, I... I found my mate but..." he says and pauses nervously.

He stops walking and lowers his eyes on the ground sighing in pain. I stop walking for a second but then I realize what he said and I walk quickly to him worried.

"Cooper what is it?" I ask as I reach him and touch his bare shoulder.

He lifts his head and opens his eyes slowly, tears are coming down from them and I open my mouth breathless.

"What?" I ask again more panicked.

"She rejected me..." he whispers and starts sobbing.

"Mira! Do you really believe him?" Cassie asks frustrated and I start smelling her anger.

"Cas!" I scream and turn to her as my eyes turn black as well and I start shaking .

"Shut up!" I roar and she groans in response with a furious expression.

"I am so sorry Cooper, really. I don't know what to say..." I whisper and hug him gently.

He quickly hugs me back tightly and buries his face in my neck and I feel too awkward with this, I mean... I am just trying to be friendly with him but his move doesn't seem so friendly and innocent to me now... This is something that only my kids and Liam are allowed to do, this is a more private region on my body, there is Liam's mark and...

"Mira..." he whispers and I feel him taking some deep breaths growling.

I push him back immediately and take one step back as his eyes turn black and he isn't crying anymore.

"He marked you..." he growls and takes one step to me threateningly.

"He is my mate. Of course he marked me! What is your problem Cooper? What is wrong with you?" I shout and tremble as Moira wants full control.

"My problem? I told you some days ago, I WANT YOU!" he screams and raises his hand to catch me but I snap it away and take one more step back.

"Are you kidding me Cooper? I am not going to leave my mate for you, I told you, I want to be with him! Stop acting like a child! Some seconds ago you told me that you found your mate and you were devastated because she rejected you." I yell and he tries to touch me again but I slap him like a flash and he takes some steps back dizzy.

Shit!

I don't know how I did it, I don't know if I can control my anger, my body, and Moira anymore... I don't care at all!

And now I think I am sure!

He is just playing or he is insane and I am so stupid, I thought that he was really sad about his mate's rejection but look at him now...

"I can't believe you are so blind Mira! How can you love him when he is the one that raped you? He was cheating on you with other women, you were receiving the photos!" he roars and...

Boom!

Cassie jumps between us and punches him so hard that I hear the noise of his bones breaking and his nose begins bleeding uncontrollably. 

He takes some more steps back but soon he opens his eyes and howls outraged, he is shaking and his jaw is clenching. His chest is going up and down and his black from anger eyes are full of hatred while Cassie doesn't move and I am getting ready for everything with Moira growling like crazy in my head.

"I think that you took it too far this time Cassie!" Cooper roars and gets ready to attack her but some inches before he grabs her he is being crashed on the ground from Liam.

What the hell?

Liam lands on top of him and in seconds they begin fighting with their wolves ready to take full control and come on the surface.

"Cassie!" James screams and jumps in front of us ready to attack Cooper and help Liam.

"Liam!" I shout and try to reach them but Cassie stops me by blocking my way and grapping me from the waist tightly.

"You son of a b***h! It was you!" Liam screams and punches Cooper with power some times.

"Bastard! I will kill you!" Cooper roars and shifts pushing Liam away from him with his paws.

"Asshole!" James shouts and shifts in his big light brown wolf and jumps on Cooper's attacking him as Liam shifts as well in his mixed white and grey massive wolf and joins him.

A loud growl echoes from our left and another dark grey wolf jumps on Liam's and brings him down but not for too long as Phobos takes full control and pushes him off of him.

"Cooper's Beta!" Cassie shouts and I push her off of me ready to shift as well.

"s**t!"

~at the same time, palace's garden~

Third person's pov

"I am glad I have you back in my life my friend!" Jacob said and tapped Lucas' back friendly.

"I am too! Who would have been able to imagine something like this? Our favorite kids are mates and we are grandpas... Look at them..." Lucas replied pointing Ethan and Angel that were playing with April and Zoey.

Jacob smiled and sighed relieved. Some seconds later turned and looked at Lucas with a curious expression. 

He needed to ask him...

"Lucas, did you know about Mira? And her with Liam?" he asked and Lucas stopped smiling and his face darkened.

"I did know about Mira but you never told me so... I thought that it would be better not to mention anything... We weren't talking then so... I didn't know that Liam's mate was Mira. He had never told me her name and I learned about it some days ago when he met her again." Lucas explained and Jacob nodded in understanding.

"I wish Grace was here to see our son and grandchildren. She would love Mira." He continued after a while with a painful expression.

"And Angelica would love Mira like her own daughter... And our son would have an older sister..." Jacob murmured with tears blurring his vision.

"You are lucky you found April, she is a great woman..." Lucas told him and tapped his shoulder smiling to enlighten the mood.

"She is, I have no idea how I would have been if she wasn't here with me..."

"Jacob, Lucas!" Ryan shouted and run quickly to them from the palace with Colton, Paul, Dom, Lily and David behind him.

"What is it?" Jacob asked noticing their panicked expressions.

"Lily, take Ethan and Angel inside the palace." Colton said in a low tone in order the kids not to listen to him.

Lily quickly took them with her telling them that she had a surprise for them but April and Zoey could feel that something was wrong and rushed to the men worried.

"Cooper is back!" Ryan stated breathless.

"How? When?" Jacob asked trembling and his wolf began growling.

"Some time ago. He found Mira and Cassie in the forest... Liam and James are fighting with him and his Beta. Cassie mind linked Cilia, they can't separate them alone!" Dom explained in hurry.

"f**k!" Lucas exclaimed and turned to look at Jacob.

"Come! We have to stop them." April shouted and began following Liam and James' scents as they were more recent and stronger than Cassie and Mira's.

"This time I am going to kill by myself this asshole!" Paul roared and passed them all like a flash leading them to the place that they were all fighting in the forest.

About two minutes later they were all there. 

Mira was trying to get free from Cassie's hold but it wasn't possible without hurting her so she preferred not to harm her. She was screaming for them all to stop but none of the men was stepping back. 

Liam was fighting with Cooper and James with his Beta and they seemed all tired but angry enough to continue until the opponent was laying on the ground unconscious or dead.

"Dad stop them!" Mira screamed once she saw them all.

"I can't hold her back for too long. April help!" Cassie yelled through her teeth.

"Enough!" Ryan shouted as the men rushed to separate the men that were ignoring everything that was happening and April with Zoey went to help Cassie.

"Make them STOP!" Mira roared and pushed Cassie away but Zoey jumped on her and they fell on the ground.

"Cooper enough!" Colton yelled outraged but when he saw that Cooper was not stepping back he shifted to his wolf and got ready to join Liam and attack him.

Paul did the same like Dom and Jacob was ready to do the same but then...

"ENOUGH! Your King commands you! STOP!" David roared and in a second the four wolves stopped fighting and lowered their heads in submission.

Liam was the last who did that however and got late some seconds but in the end he lowered his head with respect and David gave him a small smile in understanding.

"He is right... Don't get too hard on him and James..." his wolf whispered and he nodded.

"Go and shift. All of you!" He ordered and one of his men came with some clothes for all of them.

They all went behind the trees and after some seconds James and Liam came out with jeans and shirtless. 

Mira run to Liam and Cassie to James and hugged them tightly relieved and Liam kissed Mira while taking her scent trying to calm down as she was caressing his back with shaking hands.

"He knows about the photos Liam, it must have been him!" she told him through the link and he groaned in response.

"I know... I heard him and I had my suspicions from the beginning, remember?"

"You son of a b***h!" Paul roared that moment as Cooper appeared from behind the tree he ha been before.

Paul tried to reach and attack him but Dom and Ryan stopped him in time and David went in the middle of them to end the whole madness before anything more serious could happen. Mira stiffened in Liam's arms and he growled with his eyes full of hatred. James and Cassie joined their side and Cooper's Beta walked from the tree he had been and stopped next to his Alpha. Lucas and Jacob walked and stood in front of Mira and Liam and after Zoey got sure that the four young 'kids' she was feeling like her own were alright walked to Cooper and slapped him before anyone could stop her.

"If you ever get close to MY DAUGHTER again I WILL KILL YOU! And away from my son in law and my grandchildren! Did you hear me?" she shouted in her pure Alpha tone.

"Zoey, you know I respect you but..." Cooper began but David stopped him immediately and stood next to Zoey with a serious, cold expression.

"Where have you been all these days? Have anyone ever taught you how to be responsible? At least you should have informed me about your absence. Are you an Alpha or not?" he asked furious.

"I am sorry my King... I have an important reason for everything. You are right, you can punish me if you want but I didn't have the mind to do anything." Cooper replied and bowed in submission.

"He is lying!" Cassie protested frustrated.

"What makes you think of something like this Beta Cassie?" David asked her turning his head to her with curiosity.

"The one second he was trying to seem devastated because he found his mate and she rejected him and the next one he was angry because Alpha Liam marked my Alpha my King. We all can understand that something is wrong here!" Cassie explained with confidence and most of the men growled in agreement.

"Is it true?" David asked Cooper through his teeth.

"My King it is not like this... I..."

"Liar!" Mira screamed not being able to hold back any longer and tried to get free from Liam but he tightened his hold around her and pulled her back.

"Mira what did exactly happen?" Jacob asked running out of patience.

"He came here out of nowhere. Cassie wanted to attack him from the beginning but I stopped her, I thought he was sad. He said that he found his mate and got rejected. I tried to support him, I hugged him..."

Liam growled louder and Mira tapped his back before she continued.

"He realized that Liam have marked me and got out of control in less than a second, he forgot about everything. This is the reason Cassie supports that he is lying and I believe it too now... He even tried to grab me by force and..." she paused and sighed trying to calm down but she couldn't.

She just wanted to kill him... 

How could she have been so stupid and innocent?

"David, I am sorry but there is something more that you don't need to know... It is personal and I am sure now that Cooper has to do with it. So... Liam came in time to stop him. He was about to attack Cassie because she tried to prevent him from grabbing me."

"Cooper, is it true?" David almost roared and his hands turned into fists.

"David... I..." Cooper whispered trembling.

"It's King for you! Do you know what? You and your Beta are coming with me now!" David said trying to control his anger.

Cooper and his Beta just bowed and David signed for the others that they are free. Liam and Mira signed to him that they wanted to have a word with him and he nodded but later. He began walking back to him palace with the man that had brought the clothes some time ago and Cooper with his Beta behind them. 

Once they were out of their view and too far Liam turned and looked at Mira worried.

"You are still shaking... Did he do anything to you? Are you hiding anything else?" he asked shortly and gave an inquisitive look at her.

"I am fine. He tried to reach me and touch me but at the beginning I avoided him and then Cassie blocked him. He was shaking from anger. He..." Mira paused and sighed.

"He almost confessed it. We can be sure now..." Cassie said and groaned in James' arms.

"Confessed what?" April asked surprised with curiosity.

"Um..." Mira tried to talk but she couldn't, her voice wasn't coming out and her legs were shaking dangerously from nervousness.

"We have some basic suspicions that Cooper was trying to make us break up for good in order to have Mira from when we were at the college. No more details... I think that this is enough for you right now." Liam explained and kissed Mira's forehead.

"What? Did he say it clearly?" Paul asked confused.

"Almost... He knew about it and under normal condition he couldn't have known..." James replied calmly.

"Who knows about it?" Zoey asked frustrated.

"Mira was keeping it as a secret all these years. She confessed it to me when we got closer and I informed Cassie, James and Lily. They were the only people that knew about me and Mira from the beginning. Only they could help but as it seems everything is over now. We know who was behind this." Liam explained.

"More secrets? I thought I was clear! NO MORE SECRETS FROM ME!" Zoey roared and got ready to say more but Mira lost her patience.

"Enough mother! We are grown up people, I am not a child! Stop it, you are getting tiring and you are not helping. In fact, you are making it worse!" She shouted and broke her hug with Liam.

"Mira Adams watch your mouth, I am your mother! Ryan, Jacob talk!" Zoey yelled frustrated.

"Sweetheart, let the girl calm down a bit. We are all frustrated and overwhelmed, we can't think calmly. We will talk about it if she wants to." Ryan said softly and hugged Zoey to calm her a bit because he knew too well that his mate was too stubborn to listen.

"Can we go Liam? I am tired..." Mira murmured nervously and looked at him in the eyes with a desperate expression as she began having a headache.

"Sure. Cas, James?" he asked and turned to their Betas.

"We are coming." James confirmed.

"We are coming too." Colton stated and Paul with Dom nodded.

"Lucas..." Mira whispered and turned to him with a sad yet disappointed expression.

Lucas smiled at her warmly and after he walked to her he raised his hands and tapped her arms gently in sympathy.

"I am sorry you had to live all these." She murmured and he laughed slightly in a low tone.

"Do not worry my child! That was nothing. Go and take some rest now, we will meet again in a while." He said and kissed her forehead gently.

Mira gave him a weak smile and Lucas signed for Liam and the others to take Mira and turn back. 

He already knew everything and he wanted to help. 

The kids were too young and sensitive to think wisely now that they had found each other again... And some had to help and protect them, so...

The elders needed to talk...

~at the same time, somewhere too far away at an unknown place~

"Move damn it! Clean it!" he screamed and his eyes shined in their usual almost dark orange color.

The woman lowered her head in submission and fell on her knees picking up the pieces of the broken plate with shaking hands. 

She was too weak, too skinny and without sleep. 

She hadn't eaten for days, she had lost the number and she had three days to drink even a drop of water. Her old, dirty clothes were almost ripped and she was cold. She didn't have shoes and her long, thick dark brown hair was a mess. She had bags under her eyes and she was breathing with difficulty.

"Quickly!" he roared some seconds later and a sharp piece of the broken plate cut her palm from her fear when she listened to his roar.

She tried to hold a low scream from the sudden pain inside but she didn't make it.

"You worthless dog! Your end comes soon enough! I am tired of you!" the young man, her torturer roared and kicked her hard on the stomach making her gasp for air.

She fell on the cold, marbled floor and the pain began travelling all over her body. Blood was coming out from her cut and she closed her eyes as tears were blurring her vision.

"Hold on! We can make it..." her wolf howled in pain trying to seem strong and some seconds later groaned determinate.

"We are done... Both of us are too weak, there is no hope anymore..." He replied breathless still gasping for air.

"I have a good feeling, just be patient. Please... do it for me. Us. Him!" Her wolf replied again louder and more determinate than before.

"They won't let us live... So ma..." she paused and managed to take a deep breath the moment she ran out of oxygen.

She was broken, betrayed, fooled, tricked, abused, raped, hurt, dead...

She had lost everything and everyone. 

She was trying to be strong at the beginning, hell... She was strong, she knew it but gradually she lost that spark, she lost her hope and accepted her fate. She knew her future, her destiny, her end. 

She had accepted it but still it was too much to take.

The pain...

The mental pain was more than the physical! The mental pain was killing her little by little and no one could help her, nothing could make her feel better expect from...

Him...

His memory, his thought...

But then, then... 

Then he was making her life worse, it wasn't just a nightmare...

It was... A living hell...

"I know that something good is waiting for us! Someone will help us, we are not lost, I promise you! Just hold on a bit and we will get free!" her wolf howled again but this time with pride and encouragement.

"I don't know for which direction anymore..." he whispered and then everything turned black for her despite her wolf's tries to keep her awake. 

It was too late.

The darkness had consumed her...

Ho, ho, ho!

This is the third time for today, the 17th chapter and... Welcome back to action and mystery!

So what do you think of this chapter? What is David going to do with Cooper? What is Lucas planning to do with the others? What about Liam and Mira? And most importantly who is this woman?

After all these what is going to happen next? 

I could update it again today so just ask me. I decided to take a small break from the other books that are not ready (this is and that's why I am updating it so easily) so forgive me for this but writing every day for about three weeks a new chapter for a different book can be very difficult sometimes and I am a bit tired.
