Liam's pov

"Daddy where is mom? It is the fourth day she is still at the pack, I miss her!" Angel whispers sleepy and wraps her little hands around my neck.

"Yeah! This is the first time she is missing that much and she is not even calling!" Ethan says and moves closer to me on the bed.

What am I going to say now?

They are asking about her constantly, especially Ethan that has a special bond with her. Fortunately Angel is stuck on me now that they know I am their dad and she is a bit calmer but times like this she is more sensitive than Ethan. They miss her very much, they are talking about her, they even asked me to take them back at their pack to see Mira and I was too lucky Colton was there to gain their interest with a game and stop the discussion. 

Also Angel couldn't sleep the first two nights although April tried everything to calm her down enough to sleep so I had to take over and the last two nights I am sleeping with both of them in my arms. It is good that this worked and she is now sleeping quite peacefully but I am too broken and I do not know for how long I will be able to stay that strong and act in front of them.

I miss her like crazy, I am more scared than any other time in my life, I think about her all the time and I have bearably slept the last four nights. We have been searching nonstop everywhere from the moment we realized what had happened but still no news for Mira and Cassie. We also found a big area deep in the forest burnt the morning after they disappeared and as Ryan says it is almost certain that the fire was not a coincidence, someone burnt it on purpose in order to hide scents and trails. This means that something happened there and we all know that it has to do with Mira and Cassie, that psycho is clever... We can't catch any scent now, whatever we have tried is not working.

"Hey, dad! I am talking to you!"

"Huh?" I turn and meet Angel's serious expression and try to smile innocently making her laugh.

"What are you thinking? I am talking all this time..." she murmurs and sits up facing me with Ethan doing the same from my other side.

"I was thinking mum. I miss her like you and I am sad that we can't go and help her." I say casually and sit up between them.

"Is she too busy?" Ethan asks worried.

"Yes buddy. She and aunt Cassie have lots of things to take care of but do not worry, she is taking care of herself because she doesn't want you to scold her later..." I say and tickle him to change the subject and end this discussion or else I will start crying in front of them.

Knowing she is in danger is killing me, I can't stand it. I saw her two times heavily injured, I almost lost her once and the idea of losing her for good is driving me insane. Phobos is too silent, he is trying to help me stay calm for the kids but I feel in how much pain he is and we are both feeling useless for not being able to find them. She is alive, both Mira and Cassie, their wolves also, we feel it with James but we don't know for how long.

Suddenly a knock at the door brings me again back to reality and some seconds later the door opens and April gets in timidly. 

I sigh relieved and she nods discreetly while Ethan and Angel get up and run to her excited, this woman is my biggest savior.

"Grandma good morning!"

"Good morning sweethearts. Did you sleep well with dad? Are you ready to go and eat your breakfast?" she asks and kneels to kiss them.

"Yeah, dad is great!" Angel yells and turns smiling to look at me.

"Okay then young Alphas! Go and brush your teeth and hair, wash you face and come to get you dressed, dad has lots of things to do and he needs to leave." April says and they both run quickly in the bathroom closing the door behind them.

"Pheww April! You are the best, you came just in time. I was ready to start crying." I say and stand up walking to her.

She opens her arms smiling in sympathy and I pull her in my arms sighing.

"You are doing great Liam, try to be a bit patient. We can find them, have some faith. We are all here for you and James. I have a good feeling, everything is going to be okay in the end." She whispers and taps my back gently.

"I hope so April because I am not that strong to continue living without her, I am not that strong like Mira is. I do not know what to say to the kids every time they ask me about Mira, I am lying all the time but for how long? I do not know what else to say..."

She pulls a bit back and looks at me in the eyes thoughtfully. I raise my eyebrows confused and shake my head for her to talk, I know this expression...

"Okay, I think I know what we are going to tell them in order to make them stop asking to go back to the pack to see Mira..." she whispers and looks one time the bathroom's door to get sure they can't hear us.

"I will tell them that Mira and Cassie left back to Australia for some days to help a pack that we have been always cooperating with. They will surely believe it and they won't ask to go back to the pack. Okay?"

What a genius!

I open my eyes widely and nod speechless, that's it!

"April without you I would be done. Well, all of us! Thanks God we have you, Ryan and my dad or else we would have gotten crazy." I say and she sighs and moves her hand to caress my cheek.

She is a very sweet woman, so calm and strong even though what she has been through. She helps Jacob, me, James, Zoey and the others so much! She is the only one that can stay with the kids all day and keep them too busy, she is acting like everything is perfect in front of them and because of her calm aura the kids really believe her. Mira was right for adoring her that much, this woman is an angel! I don't know what I would have done without her...

"Liam, I want you to know that I love you very much, really! You are a great kid no matter what happened in the past. Mira did the best thing that accepted you back, you are a great father and mate. No one had ever imagined that you would be like this. I am here for you, anything you need just tell me. I see how much you love Mira and the kids, I know how you feel, Jacob and your father of course can understand you better but I can feel your pain. Mira is not my biological daughter but I love her even more, she came in our lives and I felt so blessed, I felt a real mother for her. This girl became my strength. And the kids..." she pauses and sighs with tears coming down from her eyes, she is too overwhelmed for the first time all these days, this is breaking my heart even more.

"April, you are the kindest woman I have ever met! You are our biggest support, without you we all would have been lost. And... Mira loves you like you are a real mother for her, you helped her more than anyone else when she was desperate. We all love you very much, you are a mother for all of us!" I whisper and kiss her forehead.

She laughs slightly and wipes the tears from her eyes smiling.

"What a kid you are?!" she asks teasingly and I roll my eyes laughing.

She just called me kid again... I guess I am, sometimes.

"Liam, come done now! Hurry!" James shouts at me through the link then making me jump up and start shaking panicked.

"What is it?" April asks me worried.

"James asked from me to go downstairs right now. I am leaving, I will come to see you later." I tell her in hurry and get out of the room heading downstairs wearing still the sport clothes I was sleeping in but I don't care...

The last thing I care about right now is my appearance.

After some seconds of running I am almost in the big, main living room when Colton, Lily and Dom join me in hurry as the others probably told them to come also.

"Something happened!" Colton whispers and I nod trying to stay calm and not lose my patient.

We get in the room to find Jacob and Zoey crying with my dad supporting James who is ready to pass out, Ryan who is going up and down the room in frustration, Cilia who is sitting on a chair lost with a blank expression, Paul standing with his back on a wall and his face buried in his hands and David who is already looking at me in sympathy.

Shit!

"What happened?" I ask breathless and look all of them waiting for an answer.

"They... Oh, God!" my dad exclaims and sighs awkwardly ready to cry as I distinguish tears blurring his vision.

"What?" I scream shaking losing my patience and Colton with Dom come next to me and tap my back to help me calm down and Lily walks to Paul worried.

"Liam..." David says and I turn my gaze to him.

"Um... Something came and you have to see it... I want you to stay calm please, I know that..."

"What David? What do I have to see?" I almost shout and my hands turn into fists with Phobos making his appearance in my mind growling and showing his teeth.

"Sit and see for yourself... We have no idea from where it came... My men are doing everything they can but we have not much hope to find out. Cooper can't be behind this, my men are never leaving his side..." he continues and Colton pulls me to sit on a couch opposite the TV.

The TV opens by David and the screen lights up with the CD player on. I take a deep breath and try to stop making bad thoughts but I can't, as the time passes I have an even worse feeling.

In the screen appears a text with the day to be the previous one:

      ' I hope you have a good time watching my short horror film. My actors are making a great job because guess what: they are really in pain!

                  All the rights reserved... Enjoy!'

I open my eyes widely once the screen goes black and a second later I see Cassie chained on a wall from her waist and hands wearing a dirty, long, grey robe with blood all over it and her head bended.

I feel my heart beating faster second by second and I stop breathing panicked with the pain making my chest hurt like hell.

No!

A man with a black mask who is quite tall and wears a black costume suit approaches her with an injection in his hands and two more men walk to Cassie and grab her right arm and neck obviously to prevent her from moving. The man then takes one more step and moves the injection even closer to her right arm and stops two inches before it touches her skin.

"Say cheers!" he shouts laughing and presses the needle inside Cassie's arm.

I gasp for air with my eyes widely open and Cassie starts screaming in pain almost immediately making me lose the ground under my feet.

Wolfsbane!

He is injecting her with wolfsbane to weaken her. Her wolf will be sleeping, she won't be able to communicate with her, her wolf won't be able to heal her and she won't be that strong.

Shit!

Her cries are breaking my heart, I have never seen her like this, her expression is so broken, she seems so desperate, in so much pain. God!

Cassie don't deserve this!

"And now..." the masked man murmurs and pulls the needle out of Cassie who is now sobbing.

"Is it time for the big star! The feisty one! She caused us lots of problems but she is not able to move even an inch now... Right?" he asks wickedly and some men start laughing.

I feel my heart stop beating when he takes some steps and stops next to...

"Mira?" I whisper breathless and Zoey breaks into sobbing immediately with Colton growling from anger next to me.

She is more heavily changed than Cassie, she is chained on the wall from her waist, hands, wrists, and legs without touching the ground. Her long, chocolate brown hair seems like black now and I can't even see her face as she has it bended also.

"No, God no!" Lily cries in agony but I do not take my eyes from the screen.

I can't take it, she is suffering and I am doing what exactly?

"Hold her!" the man shouts shortly at the two previous men that were holding Cassie.

"But Alpha she... She is heavily chained, she can't move..."one man whispers timidly and the masked man growls.

"Are you still that coward?" Mira then groans and lifts her head up with her eyes almost black from hatred and anger.

I gasp shocked from her expression, she seems like she feels nothing, she reveals no pain, no desperation, no fear, no emotion at all.

This woman is so strong, so much that no one can imagine. Not even a man could be that calm. The only thing that shows anger is her eyes and this only because I know her well enough to say.

"Shut up!" the masked man screams then and raises his hand ready to slap her.

I stand up immediately shaking with Phobos trying to take control over me and feel Colton and Dom grabbing me as I am ready to even kill. If he...

"Coward! Be a man and come closer on your f*****g own!" Mira roars and tries to move with her chains' sound making my whole body shuddering.

"Shut up Adams or I kill you right here and now!" he roars back and slaps her with so much power that the sound echoes in my mind making me lose it completely.

"Bastard!" I scream and fight to get free from Dom and Colton's hold.

I am ready to push Dom off of me but Mira's laughter makes me freeze and I turn my gaze to her that is now laughing hysterically like she is enjoying watching that man so angry.

"She is playing with his nerves!" Phobos growls but I ignore him and don't reply.

"Inject her with wolsbane now!" the man screams then and walks away from Mira and the two men next to Cassie look each other terrified.

"Yes, run! Run away coward! Run to hide!" Mira screams and the screen turns black with another text following.

         'Soon enough there will be the second part... Stay alert and get ready to follow my instructions if you want to see them again.

           Jacob Adams and Zoey Anderson get ready to pay with your lives if you want your little girl and her best friend safe and sound. My revenge will be too slow and painful so save your strength!

                 Asta la vista,

                      Your biggest Nightmare...'

"What was that? Why you two?" Colton asks Jacob and Zoey.

Zoey starts screaming, shaking and gasping for air ready to pass out and Ryan walks to her quickly and tries to calm her down while Jacob stands up and slams his fists on the table in front of him breaking it.

"I do not know what he wants. I do not know him. We did nothing!" he shouts with his eyes black and his wolf ready to take full control and I look my father lost.

He is crying now, his jaw is clenching with his eyes locked on mine sharing my pain. He knows how it feels like.

I can't bear it anymore, I fall on my knees crying and calling Mira's name ready to pass out.

"What if I lose her?"

~somewhere too far away, dungeons at the same time~

Third person's pov

The woman got inside the dark, dirty cell that Mira and Cassie were for the fifth continuous day with the usual tray of food in her hands. The guard locked the door behind her again and left away with the door of the whole dungeon's area closing and leaving them free of guarding.

Cassie sighed relieved and lifter her head up with Mira doing the same smirking.

"Are you two okay? Do you feel any better?" the woman asked whispering in agony and walked to them more quickly that the other times.

"I am much better. Mine began groaning from last night. I feel her for some seconds until she disappears again..." Cassie said in an even lower tone and looked at Mira worried.

"What about you Alpha?" the woman asked lifting a bit her head.

"You do not have to call me Alpha. You are our angel! Call me Mira please!"

The woman nodded and smiled to herself relieved. She was right, they were very kind girls and they were playing their roles perfectly, no one knew what was going on.

"So? How are you?" Cassie asked Mira waiting for an answer in agony.

"Do not worry... Moira growled late at night yesterday, it was too loud. Knowing her so well means that soon she will be strong enough to shift even if she is going to be a bit dizzy. Yesterday I was doing my best to show that I was in pain, the asshole sent a video to them, that's why he had a camera on but do not worry... His time with me is coming too soon..."

Cassie smiled excited and the woman sighed ready to cry from joy. Mira was too strong as a pure Alpha and her wolf as well. Cassie was of course strong but not that much to be a very big help in order to get free and she needed help if the woman couldn't steal the second keys of their chains and the cell's door.

"Are you okay? Did they treat you badly?" Mira suddenly asked the woman breaking the silence.

"I am fine. They don't show me any interest and they are not that careful. It is easy for me to do my part without being noticed or even suspicious."

"I really do not know how are you doing it but I am grateful! Without you we would have been lost." Cassie said cheerfully and looked at Mira who had a thoughtful expression.

"What is it Alpha?" she asked Mira teasingly trying to cheer her up a bit.

She couldn't understand the reason Mira was so serious and silent. She knew that their condition and the situation they were in weren't good but now they had lots of possibilities to get free and leave. She had to be more active according to her usual reacting. That wasn't the woman she knew, something was bothering her and it wasn't that good. When Mira was silent everyone else had to be worried.

"I am thinking... Two things..." Mira murmured still a bit lost in her thoughts.

"The first one?" Cassie asked shortly.

"That we need a big distraction if we want to leave from here for sure... And I think I know what we have to do." Mira continued and turned to look quickly the two women on her right side.

"Explain?" Cassie asked with a 'I do not get it' expression and Mira rolled her eyes smirking.

"You told us that the cells in here are full of young she wolves, right?" Mira asked looking at the old woman who nodded immediately.

"Good! Very good! Are they being injected like us?"

"No, they are too scared after so many months, they do not know the place and most of the times their eyes are covered. They have their wolves but they are too desperate to try anything. That's why there are no guards now that you two do not have your wolves... They are sure that nothing will happen."

Mira shook her head pleased and turned to Cassie with a weird smile. Cassie knew what that was about, Mira had made a plan to have more possibilities to manage and leave away for good.

"Once we get unchained and get out of our cell we are setting free all the she wolves. If we leave all together we will be lost in the crowd, we are too fast considering them, no one will notice us easily. We will create a small chaos and will save as many she wolves as we can. They can follow us back to our pack or the palace once we found our location." Mira whispered and Cassie opened her eyes and mouth widely surprised and speechless.

"s**t! You are a genius as always! You are right! We can make it! Right?" Cassie murmured and turned to the woman.

"I think we can easily make it. They have even third keys in a drawer in the same room with the wolsbane's injections I am cleaning up. They never open it because they have the first and seconds keys at the entrance of the dungeons before the main corridor. They want easy access..." she replied and the girls nodded in union.

"Great!" the woman's wolf howled in enthusiasm.

"See? It is not that difficult to get our freedom back now with these two girls." Her wolf continued and she nodded emotional.

"I already love them. Do you feel the pull I do for them?" she asked and her wolf howled in agreement.

It was true. 

She was feeling something special for these two girls. All those years she had met so many she wolves but she had never felt the connection she was feeling for them with anyone. She wanted very much to take care of them and help them both, especially Mira. The pull for that young woman was way to strong than for Cassie and she couldn't explain why. Day by day she was feeling it getting stronger and stronger. She was waiting impatiently the moment she would get inside that cell she hated for so many years in order to feed and talk to Mira. She wanted to get sure that she was alright all the time, it was like she knew her, like there was something special between them.

That was the main reason she had found the strength to help them despite her fear. She was the one that was diluting the wolsbane's liquid dose with water every morning or evening when she was cleaning up the special room that Shadow and his men had their guns, injections with wolfsbane, the keys for every room and other things she didn't know what their use was about.

She knew how to do it, it wasn't difficult because she had seen the whole process of how to prepare the injections and she knew how to remove wolfsbane in order to add water but still keep the wolfsbane's smell to deceive the guards that were injecting Mira and Cassie. With that, their wolves were not sleeping all the time as the guards wanted, they were gradually waking up as they were receiving quite less amount of wolfsbane and in the end the girls would be able to even shift and heal with their wolves being just a bit dizzy.

And her plan was already succeeding because the girls' wolves were more active that before as they had told her some time ago. Soon enough she would steal the keys for their chains, she would open their cell and as Mira had said they would free all the other she wolves. No one would be able to stop more than 100 she wolves running in their wolves' forms from the back door of the dungeons that was leading to the forest and had never guards around. 

Mira was right, it would be too easy for them to get lost inside the big crowd!

"She is a great woman and she must be a wonderful and caring mother and mate. Look how sweet expression she has when she looks at us and her friend..." her wolf whispered again with adoration.

"I know, she is more different than anyone else. Her family must be heartbroken, her kids, her mate, the poor man... But she can make it!" she replied and moved closer to Cassie who was asking Mira what was the second thing that she was thinking about.

"Oh, Cas! Enough with your persistence. Eat your food now like a good girl and stop talking. Let me think more..." Mira said seeing that the woman wanted to feed Cassie.

"Hey, it is my fault that I am worried for you!" Cassie yelled and Mira laughed.

"Yeah, yeah... Stop being so curious for once in your life sis... And not that noisy..."

Cassie groaned in response, sighed ironically to Mira and turned to the woman opening her mouth and making her laugh slightly.

"Good girl." The woman murmured and Cassie rolled her eyes.

Mira closed her eyes and took a deep breath trying to understand why she was feeling a pull for Shadow and not for that woman as she had done the previous days without result.

With Shadow it was different... 

She was too angry with him, she wanted to kill him at the beginning but... From the moment he had touched her although she was telling him that she would kill him soon once she was free from her chains she was lying. She was feeling a connection with him even though she hadn't Moira with her the last five days. She was waiting impatiently to tell Moira everything and know her opinion but the fact that in the past they had fought with him and his wolf and still couldn't figure out why they were feeling no danger was making her worried.

He was an unknown werewolf for her but why was she feeling that she knew him from before?

Her mind was telling her that she hadn't met him before but her heart was almost screaming that she knew him from somewhere making Mira feel like drowning.

She also didn't know why that man hated her that much. He was accusing her for destroying his life but she couldn't think what she had done to make it. She had spent hours of thinking who she could have hurt but nothing was coming in her mind. She knew that she was innocent, she had done nothing to no one. 

But why was he so persistent that she was the reason his life was a living hell?
