"You never know what fate is going to bring you but when you have people that love you by your side then even the darkest moment seems brighter and the pain is less..." 

~next morning, somewhere far away~

Third person's pov

"Did you talk with the kids?" the woman asked worried in a low tone.

Even if she knew very well that they were alone she couldn't talk out loud when they were referring to that thing. 

She was too worried and the fear was killing her! 

She couldn't stop thinking about them and now it was worse because they were not alone. She knew that they had to help them in any way and that was a big responsibility. These two kids were her life and being safe and sound was the only thing that mattered her!

"Yes, they are both great and the others too. But now we are sure about him... How? Tell me how? I know him for my whole life, we are searching for years, we know that he is behind all these and very dangerous but still I can't believe it! How can he be so cruel and heartless?" her mate whispered desperately and sat next to her on the big dark brown couch.

He was so patient all these years... 

He had followed his King's orders but again sometimes it was difficult for him to believe all the things he and his mate had found out. He was always a strong man, logical, clever, calm but the last days he was losing his mind. They were all in danger and only they could help them but the responsibility was too much.

"We have to be patient honey. For them... I know how you feel, I mean we were suspicious from the beginning, we found out that we were right and he is behind everything but still... It's unbelievable..." She murmured, moved closer to him and rested her head on his shoulder.

"He was like a brother to me... We were one from the day we were born. He had never shown any sign of cruelty..." he replied and sighed while he wrapped his hands around her and then kissed her forehead gently.

"He is not just cruel... He is insane, he has lost his mind, he is sick! Can't you see it? He is a monster. And he is near our kids and he is ready to hurt them! He feels no love, no regret, nothing. What are we going to do?" she asked and left her tears fall as the sadness was drowning her.

"We will do what we have been ordered! We won't talk about it to anyone. We will interfere only when it is needed! We can't risk to be exposed now that we are in the end. Try to stay strong for some more days sweetheart. We can make it!"

"But what if he kills them and we get late in the end? How can we be so sure that he will be patient and keep them alive for so long?" she protested and began shaking panicked in the idea of someone's death.

"Cat... We know his every move now! We know his plan, we know what he did, what he wants to do, whom men he is using... We know she is still alive! We can save them and they are all depending on us now!"

"I want to scream every time I think about all these... Do you remember HER? Do you remember her face when she told us her suspicions about him? She was so right... He wasn't in love with her, he betrayed her, he... Oh my God! Imagine her pain! My angel is in pain all these years because of him! She was always so sweet kind and caring, she didn't deserve all these..."

"None of them deserved it... Neither us... But we will punish him, he won't manage to get away so easily! I promise you I will kill him with my own hands for everything he has done to everyone! He won't hurt our kids, he won't make it." He whispered through his teeth and tightened his hold around her even more and she nodded still crying slightly.

"We have to be ready all the time, right?" she murmured with a blank expression and lifted her head up to look at him in the eyes that had darkened dangerously.

"Yes... Tonight he is already planning to catch Mira... We have to be ready all the time from now on. His end is near and I will be the one who is going to put it..."

~King's palace at the same time~

"Okay babe. I will go and change and then I will come to find you. Do not let Angel eat chocolate before lunch..." Mira said strictly to Liam who chuckled with guilt.

"But I can't say no to her when she makes those puppy eyes. You know it is above me!" he protested, kissed her on the neck and she laughed punching his arm playfully.

"Then when she finds her mate and gets out with him you won't say no if she makes you puppy eyes." She replied smirking devilishly and Cassie with James launched loudly while Liam got pale immediately.

"No, this is not going to happen! No male will touch my baby girl! She won't convince me to allow her get out with anyone!" he said growling and Mira laughed.

"Yeah... Sure... She will surely do whatever she wants, you will never manage to be harsh and strict with her baby. Just admit it..." she replied and James nodded in agreement.

"Man, Mira is right! Angel is your biggest weakness. She has already made you her toy..."

"Why? Because I played with her dolls with her last evening?" Liam whispered and looked around him to get sure that no one else was listening to them.

Cassie and Mira began laughing even louder and Liam turned red from embarrassment while James was already holding his stomach hurting from the laughter.

"It's not so much that fact baby... But... You changed your voice to sound like a girl!?" Mira managed to say while laughing and Cassie almost screamed remembering Liam's voice last evening.

"Yeah, yeah i***t James... Laugh as much as you want but when you make a daughter I will be the one who is going to laugh at you!" Liam groaned and pulled James to follow him at the other side of the garden where April was playing with Ethan and Angel.

"I guess we will come to find you in a while 'guys'! Try to stay away from dolls until then!" Cassie yelled and both Liam and James growled annoyed with Mira still laughing.

"Okay... Come on babe, we have to change and go to have some fun with the others! We need it after yesterday's incident..." Cassie stated and Mira nodded.

They headed to their rooms mostly in silence. 

Cassie knew about Mira's fight with Liam as Liam had told everything to James the previous night and James with his turn had already informed her. They had agreed to tell each other everything related to Mira and Liam and have their backs all the time until Cooper's disappearance from their lives.

Mira was sure that Cassie knew but didn't want to talk about it with her because she still wasn't in the best mood and she needed some peace something that Cassie was certain about and respected it.

They stopped some minutes later outside Mira's room and Cassie tapped her back gently.

"I will come to take you after I am done to go to the others together, okay?"

"Yes, I will be waiting for you Cas! Don't be late, I don't want to stay in for too long." Mira replied and opened her door ready to get in.

"Sure baby, I will be right back." Cassie said and began walking to her room while Mira got in hers and closed the door behind her.

"Finally..." she murmured relieved and rested her head on the door with her eyes closed.

She was in tension from last night. 

She had a bad feeling but preferred not to talk about it with anyone because she knew that they would be all worried and didn't want to bother them. 

She was okay with Liam after their fight, they were perfect again but something didn't feel right inside her and it was not only her but Moira also who had this weird feeling.

The previous night she had slept for only two hours and her sleep wasn't calm at all. 

She was awake with her eyes locked on Liam most of the time and early in the morning she got up and went to see Ethan and Angel that were sleeping peacefully in their beds and she had the opportunity to sit for a while and observe them.

"What is wrong with us?" she asked Moira after some seconds and opened her eye turning to walk further into the room but then...

Something caught her eyes and she opened them widely breathless. 

Moira began growling frustrated and Mira tried to find her breath again while the panic had almost consumed her. 

Her bad feeling was even worse now and she knew that this was not good.

A note on the bed...

She quickly walked to the bed shaking from nervousness and took a deep breath trying to stay as calm as possible.

"This wasn't here this morning... Someone was here..." Moira growled angry.

Mira raised her hand shaking even more with her heart beating like crazy and took the small piece of paper. 

She sighed and took it closer to read it.

   ' If you want your kids and family safe and sound come alone to the place you saw me last time tonight at midnight! 

   Do not try anything funny because I have my eyes on you and do not tell anyone!

   Yours,

Nightmare...'

"The f*****g, coward asshole!" Moira roared in the end and Mira gasped for air speechless.

"I will kill him this time! No one threatens our pups and family, NO ONE!" she continued outraged.

"Can you please stop because I am ready to pass out right now?" Mira whispered with a blank expression and turned immediately pale.

Moira groaned annoyed but in the end she nodded in agreement feeling Mira's frustration. She didn't want to overwhelm her even more! They had passed so many things the last weeks from the day they had gone to live in the palace and she knew that Mira's nerves were not in the best condition.

They had Liam and Phobos but they had almost died two times in less than two weeks, they had their fights with Liam or Zoey, they had fought two times, they had been in heat and the last incident with Cooper was even worse. 

And now a note from that maniac!

It was the worst thing that could have happened to them now...

"We have to go and put an end to this, we can't say about it to anyone..." Mira whispered after some seconds.

"Mira try to calm down! You are shaking. We can make it, you know we can! I am here and..."

"Moira, you know that this is pointless! We are done this time. He is not going to come alone. Twenty wolves were not enough to kill us and this time he is going to bring more... We know that this time is our end! We can do nothing but to die fighting him and his men! Stop pretending like we have hope..." Mira said interrupting her.

"You know we are strong!" Moira protested with desperation in her voice trying to encourage her.

"And you know that we are not Gods! We can be defeated and this time we will lose for the first time. And last..."

Moira stood silent with her heart breaking into pieces knowing that Mira was right. That maniac showed how much he wanted them dead and now it was most likely than ever to accomplish it.

"We found Liam and Phobos to lose them again... We are finally happy and we are going to die and lose everything and everyone. This is killing me already!" Mira whispered and some tears fell from her eyes.

"At least Ethan and Angel will have their father now... They won't be alone..."

"Yes... Liam will be a great father for them now that we won't be here for them... My babies..." Mira murmured lost and began sobbing.

Moira began mourning in pain while Mira was crying desperately thinking everything and everyone that she was going to leave behind and her heart broke.

She was always a strong woman, she was fearless and logical, she was brave and calm but now she couldn't. She was tired, she had broken nerves and she had lost her patience and calm way of thinking.

It was the first time she was feeling helpless and weak! She had had more than she could take all those days and no one could understand her!

Her parents were by her side but they couldn't understand that with their overprotection they were pressuring her. Well, that was something that Zoey and Jacob were doing as Ryan and April were way calmer and were always respecting her needs even if it was a bit difficult with her parents' presence all the time.

Also her emotions weren't stable from the moment she had met Liam for the first time again after all those years and that was something that she couldn't deal with so easily and was frustrating for her. She was always in control of her emotions and especially from the day that she had learned that she would be a mother and meeting again with Liam and his new behavior was unexpected and a big surprise for her. Liam was the one that made the ice in her heart melt with his affection. That man, her man had managed to drive her crazy... She tried to push him away many times but every time Liam was surprising her with his behavior and actions. He wasn't the same man he had been five years ago. He was the man she had dreamed of and she couldn't stay away from him especially when their bond was too strong even after so many years that they had been apart.

"We have to leave him a letter... He has to know, he deserves an explanation." Mira murmured after some more time of sobbing when she had begun calming down gradually.

"Yes... But will you manage to act casually until midnight?" Moira asked weakly and almost crying.

"I have to. These are our last hours with them..."

"Mira!" Cassie shouted from outside the door bringing Mira and Moira back to reality.

Mira quickly jumped up and hidden the note in the drawer at her bedside table and wiped the tears from her eyes the moment Cassie broke into her room being impatient as always.

"Baby? What is wrong? Why are you crying?" Cassie asked with wary the moment she got in and saw her mess.

She closed the door like a flash and went to Mira who was sniffing ready to cry again and sat next to her panicked.

"What is it baby? You are scaring me. Talk to me, please! Do you want me to tell Liam to come?" she said softly and wrapped her arms around Mira pulling her closer to her.

"No! Do not tell the others. I am just emotional for no reason... I think my hormones are getting crazy. Just being emotional, really!" Mira lied quickly in panic.

"Why? Is it about your fight with Liam last day?"

"Yes... You know, I am getting overwhelmed all these days and I am acting like a child. I am sorry..." Mira whispered and Cassie nodded still holding her in her arms but then she saw the drawer half closed and narrow her eyes in suspicion.

"Something is wrong... You know she is too strong to cry for something that is over... She is lying." Her wolf said nervously and Cassie nodded in agreement.

She knew Mira better than anyone. She was more than a sister for her and even if Mira was trying to fool her, she couldn't. She was lying for a reason and she was scared and panicked for the first time in their common life. Mira was always the strong one, the brave, the positive and now she seemed to be lost...

"What the hell can be happening and she doesn't want to tell me?" Cassie asked her wolf worried while caressing Mira's back and kissing the top of her head.

"Something serious obviously and something tells me that the answer is inside the drawer..." her wolf replied groaning in frustration.

Cassie sighed ready to cry from fear and wary but tried to gain her self control and act smart like she had to. She was Mira's biggest supporter and she had promised to be with her until the end. She couldn't live without her even if Mira had told her that she was against it. She couldn't leave her alone when Mira was always next to her and she was the most important person in her life. Both of them had mates now, Mira had kids but their bond was something special. They were together in everything from the moment they were born, they were one and they loved each other more than their own selves. She would always follow her no matter what even if that meaned that she would have to leave James alone.

"Baby, go and wash your face with some cold water and get changed! If you want take a bath to relax and I will be waiting for you here. It's over now, okay?" she whispered softly and Mira pulled back and nodded.

"Thank you Cas! You are my secret angel, I don't know what I would have done without you!" She said and hugged her back tightly.

"I love you more than anything, do not forget it! When you are in pain I am dying Mira..." she whispered emotional and sniffled.

"I know baby and you know that I feel the same way! I trust you more than anyone else!"

They stayed like that for some more seconds when Cassie tapped Mira's back encouragingly, she pulled back and got up to go to the bathroom. Once the door closed and Cassie stayed alone she quickly opened the drawer and took the small note she saw in her hands.

She gasped and held back a loud scream when she read it and her heart began beating so fast that she felt ready to die from the tension.

"The asshole!" her wolf screamed furious and Cassie began shaking.

"No! She won't go alone. We won't let Mira and Moira alone!" Cassie stated, put the note in the drawer and closed it quickly.

"We have to stay calm! We can't talk about it to anyone, not even James! Am I clear? We will follow Mira tonight and if anything happens we will interfere or inform the others if it is needed. Okay?" she told her wolf who howled in frustration.

"This bastard will be done even if this is the last thing I am going to do. I won't let him hurt my sister. I promise!"

~some hours later, night~

It was about one hour before midnight and Mira sighed and sat up slowly in the darkness.

Liam was sleeping peacefully next to her and Ethan with Angel were in the room next to theirs deeply asleep.

For the whole day she had spent time with everyone separately most of the times. She played with the kids and everyone at the backyard, she went for a short walk with Liam in the forest, she had a long discussion with her father, Ryan, both of her parents together and then she joined the others in the living room where they were all talking about different things.

She had done her best not to show any weird behaviour and she had made it because no one understood a thing except from Liam who told her that she was a bit melancholic and she just replied that she was tired of the last incident with Cooper.

She found some time to write a letter to Liam and the kids and one for everyone else and after the dinner that she bearably ate she helped the kids take their bath, played with them and Liam and read them a tale before she put them to sleep. She kissed their foreheads lots of times emotional and then walked to the bed with Liam who pulled her in his arms gently the moment they laid down.

They stood awake for a while to talk about their day like always and soon Liam fell asleep with his face buried in her neck and his hands wrapped around her body keeping her close to him.

Mira waited patiently until she got sure that he was sleeping deeply and slowly and gradually got out of his hold with half heart not wanting to wake him up later and risk getting late to leave.

She slowly got up from the bed, opened her drawer and pulled out the two letters she had written. She placed them under her pillow and then leaned on Liam and kissed his forehead making him purr in his sleep.

"He is a great man, isn't he?" Moira whispered touched and her voice cracked.

"We were lucky to have felt his love and have lived with him even if the period was so short... All that pain we felt deserved these last days with him by our side. The kids will be in good hands! We can be sure about it... Even if we won't be here they... Can... Be... Happy..." Mira replied and wiped again the first tears that had fallen from her eyes.

"I love you very much baby! I am grateful I found you again even if I am losing you forever! I know you and our kids will be happy together and you will take great care of them! They will keep you on your feet! Be strong and remember me..." she whispered in such a low tone that not even she was able to listen to and gave him one last gentle kiss on the lips.

Then she turned and walked to Ethan and Angel's room. She kissed both of them and covered them better one last time and then got out of their room, walked to her room's door and turned to look at Liam one last time.

He was more beautiful than any other time, he was more peaceful than ever and she smiled warmly while the tears running from her eyes.

"Goodbye my love, I will always be next to you. Just look up the sky and you will see me!" She whispered ready to burst into sobbing and got out of the room in complete silence.

Once she closed the door she began running downstairs while crying not wanting to risk anyone see her and soon she reached at the palace's entrance and after she took one last deep breath she got out and run to the forest to shift and leave forever...

But...

She didn't know that she wouldn't be alone and Cassie was close behind her with her scent masked ready for everything...

~at the same time, forest~

Shadow's pov

"Alpha everything is ready. She is coming but she is not alone..." my Beta tells me through the link.

"The hell! I was clear! What is she trying to do? Who is with her?" I roar running out of patience.

"Her Beta, Cassie but they are not together... It seems like the Beta is following her from distance! Your uncle informed me that he saw her hidden in the woods outside the palace waiting for Mira Adams... She probably doesn't know that the Beta is behind her..."

I roll my eyes and groan in frustration but to be honest it doesn't matter even if she comes or not. I will just take her with me as well as Adams. She won't be a problem, she is not that strong anyway and if she wants so much to join her Alpha in hell (my hell) then so be it...

"Okay, when she gets closer to me inform me! Are the men ready?" I ask shortly and he nods in agreement.

"Good... Have your eyes widely open!" I command and close the link.

"Are you sure? I have a weird feeling about it..." my wolf asks me one more time making me angry again.

"What is wrong with you, huh? It is the tenth time you are asking me! She and her father destroyed our life! Why on hell have you softened that much?" I shout shaking outraged and he growls at me warningly in response.

"Listen to me i***t kid and cut this behavior to me because I know you better than anyone and you are nothing without me! I feel like there is a connection with her wolf, something is happening and I have a bad feeling. Why don't we talk with her first?"

"And do you think that she is going to tell us the truth about her father and mother? About her? Do you? Shut up and let me handle it!" I scream ready to block him.

"I am sure that your dear uncle is hiding something from us! He can't be the only victim, he must be hiding something and..." he protests but I am already on my limits.

"Enough! SHUT UP!" I roar and block him immediately.

Fuck, I can't believe him!

My uncle is honest, he is saying the truth and everything he is saying has already happened. I allow no one to doubt him, not even this filthy dog that I call my wolf and wants to betray me.

Mira Adams... 

She will be soon dead... 

She and her beloved father with her slut mother being likely to join them in hell...

"Alpha, she is less than 200 meters away from you and her Beta is 300 away..." my Beta tells me after some minutes and I smirk devilishly.

"Get ready all of you! Take your places and wait for my command! She is here!" I order harshly and they all nod.

Yeah... 

I can smell her, I can clearly listen to her heavy, fast footsteps. She is here, in my own mercy and she is done, she is trapped!

"Alpha over there!" one of my men shouts through the link and I see two big, bright green eyes shining some meters right in front of me.

She is ready to fight... 

She really thought that I will play fairly... 

Silly woman... 

Her father is the worst bastard there is and she expects from me to act with honor...

Shameless...

She is less than 50 meters away from me when I howl angrily and she stops running immediately and howls back even louder. I am standing on a big rock in my wolf form with my 50 most trusted men on my right and left side and even more hidden in the thumbs all around her. 

I haven't told her to be here at midnight for no reason... She mustn't see them if I want my plan to succeed...

"Mira Adams, you are mine..."

Third person's pov

Mira was standing right opposite of him with pride in her wolf form. 

She was shaking from anger, she wasn't scared at all! 

She was ready for everything, for a big fight and a proud, honored death! 

She was an Alpha, a Luna, a mother and a father as James has told her once and she knew that he was right but now she was a mate as well, a woman and not a common one. She was strong and she had decided to stay like that until the end.

"Together until our end. I love you Mira! Thank you for being my human!" Moira told her with a strong, clear voice and howled loudly proud.

"It has been an honor to have you as my wolf! I would never change you for anyone, I love you!" Mira replied and took some steps forward growling and challenging her enemy.

He smirked and howled with his fighters getting ready next to him and Mira cursed for his weakness.

"Mira!"

Mira quickly turned to look back and opened her eyes widely in realization watching Cassie running to her in her light brown wolf form.

"Cassie run away! Stop!" she screamed but it was too late...

About twenty more wolves appeared behind Cassie and circled both of them immediately not leaving them space to try to get away.

"Cas what are you doing here? He is going to kill you!" Mira screamed panicked as Cassie reached her and caressed her neck with her head.

"I never left you alone sister, I won't do it now! Together till the end! Remember?" Cassie told her shortly with confidence and Mira groaned annoyed in agreement.

Cassie turned her back to Mira and Mira did the same facing the wolves around them and getting ready to fight with Moira shaking and growling even more than.

She had one more reason to fight now, she wanted her sister to live!

"Then so be it! One last fight that we will be together Cas!" Mira stated and looked at the big black wolf with the light brown, almost orange eyes who smirked and howled.

"Shoot them now!" he screamed to his secretly hidden men and shotguns began getting from everywhere headed to Mira and Cassie.

"Cas! No!"

Mira's end seems to me very close with Cassie accompanying her!
