Daven: His lost memories

Chapter 4: Sorry I don't know you

Daven was boiling inside for unknown reasons. Never in his life he has ever thought of his life would turn out like this. Who did he really offend in his previous life?

While, his so called wife was sobbing on his chest, Daven was getting impatient every second of it and could not wait to just part away from her.

Just as Daven was about to say something, the doctor comes in making Daven sigh in relief that the woman was finally getting off him.

" You came here fast, Mrs Heath! " the doctor couldn't help but exclaim when she sees Brittney in the ward.

" How can I not for my husband..." She wipes her tears with her hand, and a warm smile could be seen from her face. " It's been long since I saw him with his eyes open."

The doctor looked back and forth at Brittney and Daven reading his expression with every word Brittney said a time. She was slightly surprised to see a light frown on Daven's face.

" Well it's good that you are here. "

Brittney was so a excited and couldn't wait to take her husband home. " When can I take him home with me? "

Daven almost choked on his saliva hearing this question. Ain't no where he's going to this woman's house. He couldn't help but shiver when thinking about how a mess her house is.

He quickly said in a tone Brittney doesn't recognise. " It's fine, you don't have to. I will go to my grandfather's house."

Hearing what her husband just said made her heart skip a beat a few more times before she could finally react. So many thoughts quickly occupied in her mind thinking she must have done something wrong.

" Wh... what d..do you mean?...D...did I do something wrong? " She stutters in between her words with fear and confusion in her tone.

The doctor just stood there waiting to see how Daven was going to reply.

" There is nothing you did wrong... I just don't want to live with you." To him his words were honest, while the doctor considered them brutal.

Brittney was dumbstruck to the point where she didn't move a muscle. ' Since when did he became so straightforward? '

Brittney was lost of words, she couldn't add things up. Why does he suddenly want to leave her and since when does he has a grandfather?

In the past, Daven was always secretive with his background. All he told her was that he grew up at an orphanage home and doesn't who or where his family is. ' Since when now he knows where his grandfather is? ' Brittney was trying to add things up but she couldn't. ' Could it be that he has found his grandfather or any of his family members? ' All this made her more puzzled.

Seeing her not replying didn't shake him at all, he only turned cold, looking unfriendly to approach. He looks at the doctor and opens his mouth with no hesitation. " Since you said I'm fine, then I'm going to take my leave."

The doctor was disappointed with how poorly Daven's brain is. How is he going to survive out there in this big city he doesn't even remember anything about it.

" What!? are..." she was cut off by the doctor who quickly jumped in

" Let's not rush into this... Come on, follow me to my office."

Daven was the first one to follow the doctor without hesitation nor looking back at Brittney.

She remained where she was standing with tears welling up, but she managed keep them back and follow them.

At the office, Daven who was seating next to Brittney, gave a an aura she never felt before from him.

" Ehm! " The doctor clears her throat and starts off by explaining...

" So, when Mr woke up, I found nothing wrong with him until he told me that he doesn't know you. Apparently, he has lost some of his memory, which I my guess, the memories that sort of happened during these 8 years..."

" No it can't be! " Brittney clearly understood what the doctor meant. Every word was like a knife stabbing through her chest.

Daven didn't even glance at her, he just went on thinking about his empty stomach that needs food. Caring for a woman wasn't his plan and in this case will never be.

Without leaving him time to react, she has already grabbed his hands in an affectionate manner." Dave! you do know me, right? "

Daven pretends to be searching in his memory for her face, meanwhile in his mind it is just blank. He thinks for a moment before saying something that made Brittney finally lets go of her tears.

" Mhm... I'm sorry, I don't know you."

" You have to. You do remember me right? It is just a joke isn't it? You said you would never leave me..." She was about to continue when she choked up.

The doctor quickly offered her and said with a concerned look that things are going to end good. " I'm going to leave you guys talk for a while. I'll be outside."

With that, she left.

The office was silently awkward. Brittney stared at Daven's side face that never spared her a glance ever since they came in. She could imagine herself without Daven in her life. Life would be so dull and sad just like before she met him.

Meeting him was the biggest treasure she had never thought of having. Now that he wants to leave and doesn't remember, how will her life be?

" Sorry for not being able to remember you, I'm sure you were an amazing woman to me. And sorry for the ending." his voice was steady with no emotions in it and continue to look on the side without turning to look at her. This is what hurt her more, he treated her like a stranger.

Just as he finishes speaking, Brittney rushes in with tears falling uncontrollably. " No!.. no I'm not going just give us up. We've been through so much already and...and..."

" And nothing." He finally turns to look at her with a calm expression.
