" You know what, let's do some tests. I think you kinda lost your memory."
" Doctor what happened to me? How did I get here? " His whole body trembles in fear hoping it's not what he is thinking. It can't be that it is years later now, right?
" Your wife said that she found you laying unconscious on the kitchen floor when she came back from her shift. She hurried and called an ambulance after she found you not responding. When you came, we tried to do some tests and found out that your head is bleeding from inside and you were this close to dying..." The doctor imitates with her fingers on how close he was.
" We quickly did a surgery and you were saved, but you were left in coma ever since."
Daven was paying a close attention to what the doctor was saying. He gasped out of air when he hears the doctor said that he almost died. " How long have I been in coma? "
" About 4 months."
A nurse rushed in and it was Tara. " Doctor, there is an emergency. You are needed right now."
The doctor nods before looking at Daven. " Have a rest first, we will discuss everything when your wife is here."
With that the doctor leaves followed by Tara.
Daven falls back to his bed tired. All he's feeling now is tired. Too tired to sleep, too tired to even think, just too tired to do anything.
His eyes wondered across the room and caught the calendar on the wall. Immediately he sprinted to it. After scanning through it for a second, he stepped back in disbelief.
" H...h...how c.. come? " this question left his mouth in difficulty.
Turns out that everything that he felt like has happened yesterday, it actually happened 8 years ago.
Daven stood there for some unknown time without doing anything, just staring at the calendar in disbelief.
After he starts to feel a little light headed, he slowly walks to his bed and lays down.
" What's going on? " he mutters these words in a soft tone. He still couldn't believe what was happening to him. Maybe he was not meant to die that day. And who saved him anyway?
How and why?
Before he could think any further with his unanswered questions, he is interrupted by the sound of his stomach grumbling.
He gets up and went to stand next to the window to clear his mind. The scenery outside was indeed beautiful. Daven tries to remember which city was it, but in the end he couldn't clarify it. Subconsciously, he caught a sight of a young woman probably in her twenties getting off a cab and going towards the entrance in a rush.
He frowns upon seeing how poorly and unstylish the woman was dressed. Ain't no where he would allow his woman dress like that in public. The woman wore a long green dress that seemed to be too big for her, and her curves weren't visible. If it was his woman he would have scolded her many times before telling her to change. It was just too so-so for him, and not to mention her hair.
He couldn't help but say, " Gosh this woman is disorganized."
Speaking of women, he suddenly remembers that the doctor has told him that he was married. He couldn't help but get excited and curious about how the woman looks, and know what his taste is like.
If it is so bad, he will regret why he didn't die that day he got shot by his cousin.
Suddenly, a cold shiver runs down his spine with the thought of how will he treat this woman. Since he has lost some of his memory, he doesn't know how he treated her or showed his affection . All he knows for sure is that now, he doesn't love her.
Plus even if he loved her dearly before, but now, settling down is not included in his present plans nor in his future.
All he wants to do now is find out about his grandfather and his companies. He just prays that his grandfather didn't pick the wrong person to run his companies.
Just as he was about to turn around to and leave his ward to take a walk outside, a woman suddenly enters with a jolt.
" Dave!! "
Before he could even react, the woman has already hugged him.
" Oh Dave you finally woke up, you scared me to d...death." She starts sobbing when she finishes her sentence.
Daven almost pushed her away when she hugs him, he was just never used to be touched by women except his mother. He was no different from a log. He just stood not knowing what to do as he has never encountered such situation.
Before he could think of anything else, a fresh lavender fragrance reached his nose. The fragrance was like a charm possessing everything around it. It was his first time to smell such nice fragrance before coming from a woman, and for the first time in his life he finally relaxes.
Before, when he was in highschool, he remembers most of the girls had strong intense smell which he always dislikes, and that is also one of the reason he stayed away from girls.
This woman's smell was so charming that he ended up enjoying himself sniffing at her hair secretively. Because he was taller than her, her face was buried on his chest. Slowly his heart started to beat faster and faster every second when he suddenly thinks of how she looks.
In his mind, he painted a picture of the woman according to the smell. He slowly tries to get out off her embrace by removing her arms off him, but his heart sank when he even failed to move her fingers. She was like a magnet. He tries a few more times feeling annoyed. When he caught sight of what she was wearing, he almost fainted.
" That goddamned woman with no sense of style! " was all he could think of in his mind.
" God you must be kidding! How did I even end up with her!? " in his mind he was really cursing himself.
" Great! Not only I missed 8 years of my life... I also have a bad taste in women. What was I even thinking? "
