" You can't give up on us just like that Dave! You can't." The way her tears just flowed down her face made Daven feel sorry for what he is putting her through. But still, he can't force himself to love her, love is supposed to be something that comes from within ones heart. Forcing himself will only hurt both of them.
Daven has been hearing her call him as ' Dave ' ever since she arrived and thought maybe it was just a nickname she gave him.
" I'm sorry, but you just have to except it... And by the way, My name is Daven, not Dave."
Brittney was getting very confused with everything about him. Didn't he told her that his name was Dave Heath? And now he says it's Daven? What was going on.
Seeing her not responding he got up from his seat ready to leave. " Take care"
When he was about to open the door, he was stopped by Brittney's words.
" Where are you going to go? I'm sure you don't know this city or remember it."
Daven was caught off guard. That's right, where was he going?
" Uhm...err..I will figure out when I'm out there."
" Just come home with me to properly say goodbye. And I'm sure you're hungry, don't you want to take a bite before you leave? " She revealed a bitter smile.
Hearing her mentioning food,he was left with no chance to refuse. " Alright, a bite won't hurt."
Before they left the hospital, the doctor gave them a prescription for Daven's medication which Daven thought it was bit too much as there were lists of different types and sizes.
Brittney stopped a cab and they both got in. On their way home, no one spoke to each other. Only was Brittney kept glancing at Daven from time to time.
While the view was nice, Daven couldn't enjoy the ride as his mind was occupied with thoughts. What will he do now in this unfamiliar city with no family members? But the real question was where will he even begin?
15 minutes later, the car slowly stops next to a house. The outside of it was not that bad as he expected. In fact, it was beautiful and clean.
" We are here." she opens her door and pays their fee.
When Daven got outside, he breathes in slowly with his eyes closed, the air was fresh and a bit unfamiliar to him.
By the doorstep, Brittney struggles to find her keys in her bag and immediately she begins to panic looking for them with a worried expression.
Meanwhile, Daven was wondering his eyes around him. He secretly admires its neatness around the yard, especially in the garden. Looks like he has misjudged her.
Brittney was going to lose her mind any minute if she does not find her keys. " Where did I put the damn keys! "
" your pockets? " Daven was guessing casually and actually didn't know that Brittney's dress has pockets.
Remembering that her dress has pockets, she quickly pushed her hand inside and takes it out empty, and then does same with the other one. Immediately she felt her keys and took them out.
" Aha!! There they are."
She quickly unlocked the door with a relief and enters. As soon as Daven comes in he was mesmerized by the inside of the house. It only had simple designs, but filled with creativity. Turns out that he really indeed misjudged her.
" Make yourself feel at home. I'm going upstairs to change." she said throwing her bag on a nearby couch.
" A free tip...don't ever wear that dress again, it looks ugly on you." His straightforward words made Brittney freez and blush with embarrassment.
Thinking of what had happened earlier when she got a call from the doctor, she immediately ran up stairs to her room with red cheeks.
When she gets to her room, she quickly went to the mirror to see how ugly she looks in this dress.
" Mhm...I guess he was right."
Earlier on when Brittney received a call from the hospital, she was taking a shower, preparing for her night shift. Ending the call with
a rush, she quickly got out of the shower panicking and picked whatever she saw first to wear. She didn't pay attention to what it was and how it looks, she was in a rushed to even think about how she looked. And with her hair that was still wet, she just tied it anyhow and put on her shoes running out of the front door.
The dress that she was wearing belongs to her mother and was not that bad, but it just didn't suit her.
Down stairs, Daven just sat there at his own house like a visitor. He tried to look around for pictures, but could only see paintings. He felt very bored just sitting there and doing nothing. His eyes suddenly stopped and stared at the door not far from his left. Fast as light, curiosity stirred up. It was just a normal door with simple decorations, but unknown feelings aroused him to look. The next minute, he finds himself already inside.
Turns out that it was just a study room. ' Was this his? '
He slowly walks to the neat, tidied desk where there was a computer, behind it was a picture frame which he didn't notice, and a newspaper. His eyes stared at the two items back and forth, not knowing which one to look at first.
He makes up his mind a moment later and grabs the newspaper and starts reading it. His eyes widens in shock when he gets to the second page which is related to 'The Quinn Family'. With a frown, he angrily throws the newspaper to the ground.
" Just because I'm gone doesn't mean you should behave anyhow you like."
Before he could switch on the computer, his eyes subconsciously caught the sight of a marriage certificate which was hanged on the wall.
His poker face suddenly revealed his shock when he reads it.
