Chapter 5

Jason's Pov I stood on a balcony at the top of the mansion and watched as the maids and gardeners did their chores quietly. As the morning breeze blew over my face and through my hair, the memory of last night came through my head. It felt good to finally be able to see the world through clear eyes. My mind had always been clouded and I had no control over my actions ever since i was cursed, but after I mated with Aurora the night before, everything changed. I reeked of the feeling I got, lying by her side. For the first time since I was cursed, I felt a connection with someone. Someone who was truly my mate. Even though the curse wasn't completely broken, this confirmed to me without a doubt that there was hope after all. “The news has spread like wildfire. Although I have been able to prevent it from going beyond our borders. What do you intend to do now?” Agnes, the lady who readied Aurora for our mating, asked from behind me. I let out a sigh, then turned to her, “Early this morning, I came to realise I had regained consciousness of my surroundings, a part of the curse that made me a savage during mating was lifted. My curse has almost been broken and that can only mean one thing, she truly is.” I said softly. “I understand that much, my king. But people do not like that. How do we calm them down so they don't end up killing her?” Agnes asked. “We'll just have to make it known to them that the curse wasn't lifted when we mated. If the news of her being my mate could spread so quickly, then the opposite would do the same,” I said, walking toward the entrance to the mansion. “And how do we accomplish this sir?” Agnes asked, watching as I walked away. I stopped right in front of the two large doors that led into the mansion, then said softly as I turned to my left, “We bring in more girls…” *** I walked to the Cafeteria where Agnes had told me Aurora and the other girls were located, and as I stepped in, the once loud and bustling room became as quiet as a graveyard. I walked in slowly, my shoes making a clicking sound with every step. I scanned through all the beautiful women that surrounded me, looking for her, my mate. I carried a grim expression on my face to incite fear in the woman. “My lord, please have a seat,” one of my many concubines said as she held me by my right hand. “Unhand me woman!” I exclaimed, pulling my arm from her grip and throwing her aside. All the other girls turned away from my gaze, shivering as I walked further into the cafeteria. “Where is Aurora?” I asked, sounding very furious. The girls cleared the way, revealing my mate as she sat quietly at a table with her newly made friends. I walked in her direction, and the other three females who sat around her stood up. “Aurora,” I called and she slowly got up. She turned around, facing the ground in attempt to avoid looking at my face. “Raise your head,” I said softly. Aurora slowly raised her head and her eyes met mine. I gave her a cold stare which I was sure would send chills down her spine. She was unable to speak. Staring at me helplessly, the excitement and joy she had when she realised I was her mate had vanished completely. Even with fear written all over her face, she was beautiful, her skin was as smooth as that of a newborn and her diamond blue eyes glimmered in the little light that lit up the cafeteria. Facial beauty and body combined, she was nothing short of a goddess. As I stared at her emotionlessly, “Why would the moon goddess bless a man like me with such a gem?” I asked in my head. She was indeed tempting, but I had no intentions of showing weakness before my concubines. Without a second thought, I threw a slap at her face. She yelped in pain and placed her right palm on her cheek. “Do not go spreading rumours that I am your mate, you're just another concubine like the rest of them, so know your place,” I said with a stern tone, turned around and walked away. As I walked out of the cafeteria, I let out a sigh. I turned to the palm I had just used to hit my mate and wondered what she would make of me now. I had barely gone an inch from the cafeteria when I heard the other girls laughing. This made my blood boil, but I couldn't do a thing about it. I didn't want them to get suspicious. **** Agnes followed me out of the mansion late in the evening. I wore a large black cloak so no one outside the mansion would recognise me. Even though I was the alpha of this pack, I had so many enemies who wanted me dead. Both my pack's wolves and infiltrators from other packs who were very upset about me taking their daughters would take any chance they got to attack and kill me. Although no other pack could defeat mine in a war, if they staged an ambush on me, I would be an easy kill. So, for the period I was cursed I had to stay under the radar. We drove through the estate and In a few minutes we were out through its front gates. The lights from the buildings and billboards, and vehicles that passed by on the road gave off a harmonious tune that almost sounded like music to my ear. Almost everything was lost to me before I met Aurora and leaving the mansion was a big no because my curse would force me into attacking anyone I saw on the streets. But this time things were different, I could finally enjoy the outside world without fear or worry of harming anything or anyone. I wasn't completely free but this was more than enough to put a smile on my face. After a few hours of driving, we arrived in front of a small bungalow. It was a house completely made of wood and looked like no one had lived in it for months. I got down from the vehicle, walked to the front door and knocked. After waiting a few minutes, the door handle made a clicking sound. It slowly creaked open and a young lady stuck her head out. Her eyes widened as her eyes met mine. As she gasped in shock, I said with a smirk, “Long time no see old friend.”
