CHAPTER 6 ~JASON'S POV~ “Long time no see, old friend,” I said with a smirk standing in front of her door. She gulped in some saliva and replied, “What are you doing here? I thought you couldn't leave your castle.” “Well, things have changed now, I'm close to breaking that witch's curse. So now I can move around as freely as I want without… Losing it,” I said. “Wait, does that mean…?” She asked with a shocked expression. “Yes, Uvira. I found her, my mate,” I replied, glaring at her with a cold stare. A smile suddenly grew on my face again, “Aren't you going to let us in? We came all this way to see you,” I asked. “I'm sorry. Please, come in,” She said, she was already shivering so much just because I was present in her house, I could tell she was very much still afraid of me after all this time. “You can calm down, Uvira. I'm not here to cause any harm, I just have a few questions,” I said, trying to ease the tense atmosphere. “I know, but I can't help but get a bad feeling anytime you step into my house,” She replied, walking me to a table. Agnes, Uvira and I sat at different areas around the table, and after a moment of silence, she biult up the courage to ask, “Who is she? Who's the unlucky shewolf who's unfortunate enough to end up as your mate?” “My mate? Oh I can't tell you that, not until I break my curse completely. If I say her name to just anyone, she'll end up dead by dawn, I don't want that,” I replied with a soft smile. Although Uvira was formally a close friend of mine, I had to be careful who I disclosed information to. At this point in time, every single person around me was a potential enemy. I had to do all I could to protect my mate or the consequences would be grave. “So, why are you here then?” Uvira asked, letting out a sigh. I could see the disappointment in her eyes when she heard me refer to her as 'just anyone'. “You're an indirect relative of the witch that cursed me. I watched you grow up to become the woman you are today. I know you're powerful enough to help me with this,” I said softly. “Help you with what exactly?” She asked. “Well, you see, during the time I was mindlessly taking young females from the different packs, I wasn't myself and don't exactly have a clear memory of what exactly happened, and as a leader, that is quite the setback. I need you to help me recover every single memory of the time I missed out on after she cursed me. I need to know all the packs I attacked and the ones that are now under my control,” I explained. “Oh, what's your plan here, Jason? I have a bad feeling you're going to do something terrible with that information,” Uvira asked. “Oh, don't you worry yourself about what I'm going to do with that information. Angering more packs than I already have is the last thing I want to do right now given my situation. So please, make with the magic,” I replied with a soft smile. “Okay then,” she said, letting out another sigh and closing her eyes. She stretched her palms towards my head and placed them over both my ears. She started to recite one of her spells and strands from her dark brown hair began to rise. Her eyes opened again and they glowed bright orange. Images from my past started to flood in. I could see all my monstrous acts and deeds during the time I was cursed, all the packs I had destroyed for the sake of taking their daughters. After Uvira was done her eyes went back to normal, she let out short breaths of air and then said, raising her head to look at me, “You're even more of a monster than I thought,” “That wasn't me, that was the curse the witch placed on me. Although it worked to my advantage a little,” I replied, sounding a little ominous. “What do you mean?” Uvira asked. “Do not ask so many questions young witch. Thank you, and have a good night,” I replied, got up from my seat then walked toward the door. Agnes followed behind me and we both walked out of the house. As Uvira shut her door, I could hear her let out a sigh of relief. I adjusted the collar of my suit, smiled and got back into the car where our driver was waiting. “We are going to visit each pack first to officially take control of them. They will all give in, either willingly or by force,” I said to Agnes. “But, my Lord, you said no one could know of your recovery, it would put your mates life in danger,” Agnes replied, worriedly. “I know Agnes, but every pack has a tradition that cannot be broken, a tradition that allows me to challenge each alpha to a duel they must accept. If I've drilled enough fear into them already then they'll give up even before the fight starts, if I haven't they'll just walk right into a death trap,” “Alright my lord, I shall send a message to which ever pack you choose to visit first,” Agnes replied softly. *** After a while we arrived back at the mansion. It was still late at night so all the females were already asleep in the respective rooms. As I walked through the gardens outside the forest, recieving the evening breeze, I suddenly heard foots steps from the other side of a wall made of roses. I could hear her heart beating rapidly. I could easily tell she was hiding from me. I guess I was a little hard on her earlier today. “What are you doing outside your quarters?” I asked, trying not to sound too excited by her presence. “My lord. I… I was just having a stroll,” Aurora replied, shaking in her voice. Her voice was all but beautiful, I didn't get to hear her voice earlier today because she couldn't speak before me. “You better head back to your quarters. People who still believe you are my mate may spring out and attack you. Personally, I can't have my property getting damaged,” I said, trying to be as cold as possible. She nodded gently then turned around and walked away as fast as she could. I let out a sigh, staring at her as she ran up a few staircases that led to the front door of the mansion and said softly, “I can't wait to hold you again my dear,”
