5. The past comes back

Caroline's p.o.v                      ( Flashback ) I took a bath and dressed up, my mind had a lot of thoughts going on as I sat on the chair in my house thinking about his words  I was truly the worst human being on earth, I failed to do my job and lost the only man I gave myself to and ever loved I had nothing left to hold on to. I lifted my trembling hands and grabbed my remote to turn on the TV and watch a movie but stopped when his words rang in my mind. "Leave and never return, if you truly have feelings for me, you won't ever look back or contact me in any way." I got up feeling very weak and moved slowly to my bedroom, tears were rolling on my cheeks and my heart was aching very badly. I sat on the floor weakly and sobbed loudly, I was so lonely, broken, and wished for my own death. There was only one thing left to do and was to disappear from everyone I had ever known. no one cared about me as I cared for them, I needed to leave the country and go far away where I could try and be happy or start a new life. The life I was living was not a life that made me happy, I really enjoyed being a spy but after meeting Don it all changed. I failed to complete my mission and I couldn't go back as a failure, failures were treated as the outcast of the organization and I didn't want that to happen to me. I quickly stood up gathering the only strength in me and went to my already packed small suitcase, all that I needed was in there, money, documents, passport, and a  confidential laptop, if couldn't have him then I was better off gone so that I could never meet him ever again. * * * *                  FIVE YEAR'S LATER * * * I cleaned the glass in my hand while observing a group of bikers that were parking their motorcycle outside my cafe, the damn bastards were well known in our area as trouble makers, luckily they never walked in my cafe but today it seemed luck wasn't on my side. Roy was outside playing with Ruby while Isabel stood by my side uncomfortably looking at the bikers too. They all looked at me with a smile then walked to the door and entered, I was rather bored than afraid of them despite them holding a blood gang tag on them. I had noticed for the past few weeks that they easily racked the place they deemed unfit or didn't like, what I needed to do was to just ignore them and hope all would work out fine. I sighed then continued to clean my cup, I was now different from the past me, it had been now three years since I moved here with the money I had saved. when I reached the place I observed it for a month then when I saw how safe it was I bought a small house and a cafe near it, the past years I perfected myself on how to run it and later I hired Roy and Isabel, they were first my regular customers but when I heard that they were looking for a job I offered them one in my cafe, Roy was a great waiter while Isabel was good in baking, cleaning and a few other works. The two were the only people I looked up to as my only friends, on rare occasions I thought of them as family sadly deep down I knew that they only saw me as their boss and friend. "Why isn't anyone serving us anything!" One huge guy asked loudly as he sat down with his fellow bikers.  Judging from the way he was talking and acting I knew he was the leader. "Let me call Roy to get their orders, I  will look after Ruby" Isabel whispered in fear. "No, I will take their orders" I answered. The cafe was mine, if they wanted to pick a fight with me then I was okay with it, I just didn't want to involve Ruby, Isabel, Roy or the few customers that were looking at them in fear. Isabel quickly went to the back room leaving me alone with them, I took in a deep breath then released it and went to their table. They sat surrounding the table and the leader had his feet on top of it, I looked at the fifteen men with the best smile I could come up with. "Hi and welcome to my cafe, my name is  carol, sorry for taking time to get to you, what can I get for you today?" I asked in my most respectful voice. The leader looked at his men then smirked. "I would like to get one plate of naked Carol, with her legs spread for us on this table" he answered proudly. I sighed softly not wanting to scare my customers in the cafe, I refused to let my anger get the best of me  "I  want you" he whispered as his men chuckled. "I said, may I take your order, sir?" I repeated with emphasis on my words. "And I f*****g answered that I want you on this table with your legs spread apart for us, I have been observing you for a week and how delicious you look, you are food that I would like to devour,'' he said as his men stood up and took out a bunch of knives from behind their belts. The men and women who were in the cafe stood up quickly and run out of the cafe in fear. " I'm sorry sir, I'm neither available nor for sale", I answered calmly. He stood up lazily with an annoying grin facing me. "It seems you are hard to persuade, bring her in!" He screamed. I quickly turned to look behind when I heard Ruby's voice, a guy walked in from the back room pointing a gun at Roy and Isabel, Ruby was held by his free hand and dragged. I angrily folded my hands in fists and turned to look at the leader, he really was the worst kind of man I despised besides the policemen that took time to come to the area on purpose because some of them were working under the same gang. "So Coral, shall we start again?" The leader asked with a raised brow. I was about to tell him to f**k off but held in my words when Ruby cried out in pain, the bastard holding her was squeezing her hand tightly. Fighting them was going to be easy, but then it wasn't a guarantee that Ruby, Isabel, and Roy were going to be safe, the only thing left to do was to give in and hope that one customer was kind enough to call the good cops here. "Alright" I whispered then lifted my hand and took off my blouse. The door opened and two tall, smart good-looking men walked in, they glanced at us then proceeded to go to the counter like they saw nothing. "Well then take your clothes off" the leader ordered. I sighed then unbuttoned two of my buttons. "Attention!" One of the two men who had recently walked in yelled while hitting the counter loudly startling Isabel and Ruby, the bikers looked at them quietly. "Who the f**k are you, can't you see that we busy trying to get some fun here?, Leave before my men decorate your lame suits" the leader warned furiously. "Oh sorry, we just came here for coffee, our master wants it now, so can one of you thugs come here and prepare it?" The other man in the suit answered casually shocking all the bikers with his disrespect. "Tell your master to come here by himself and make us serve him coffee before we end up breaking your f*****g necks" one of the bikers answered with pride as the rest laughed. The two men exchanged glances then smiled. "That won't be necessary, I'm already here to make you serve" a familiar voice I knew too well answered while the door opened. I held in my breath when my eyes met his, ocean blue eyes that stirred a lot of emotions I thought were dead in me, the face that haunted my dreams and made me hate myself for ever being weak. "Don" a whisper escaped my lips. He really was here, I tried so hard to convince my mind that he wasn't here but gave in when he moved closer to me and stood in front of me. I exhaled my kept breath to breathe calmly as my heartbeat widely, he was much sexier and a little older giving off a matured, rich yet dangerous aura than I had remembered, while I was a mess he looked very handsome in an expensive suit and his jet black hair was no longer short but medium. He slowly removed his jacket without taking his eyes off me and covered me, a blush was creeping my face, all those damn naive feelings were crushing down on me. He lifted his hand and caressed my cheek with a sad smile as my breathing picked up, I slowly lowered my gaze on the ground feeling ashamed to meet his eyes. "Who the f**k are you bastards!?" The leader yelled loudly making me look up and causing Don to turned and looked at him. "I can kill you right here and now for threatening my woman, do you know what you have done?, You have managed to f*****g piss me off beyond my tolerance," he said coldly then removed a card from his pocket and threw it at the leader's feet who looked at it for a minute then at him with fear written all over his face.  "You just managed to burn your father's company down, I no longer need his service, his contract is to be cancelled," he said calmly as the leader fell to his knees trembling as the rest of them followed. "Master please, we were wrong, my father will cut my tongue out, I'm begging you to reconsider please" He screamed in fear with a cracking voice. "Me not killing you here should mean something, so don't push my limits" Don answered darkly making me cower a bit. The man in front of me was very intimidating, proud, serious, cold, and dangerous. "Carol please, we are sorry" the other bikers screamed as I watched in shock. Who the hell was Don? was all that went in my mind.
