"No, not completely. The mate bond attracts us to our other half, but that's not everything. You have to like the person you're destined to spend forever with. If for some odd reason that a wolf is mated to someone they hate or not compatible with, they could always reject them. When both parties agree to the rejection, the mate bond is broken." Stefanie informs me, providing a bit of comfort.
"It may sound easy to just reject your mate, but it's not. I have heard that it's extremely painful, that your heart feels like it it literally being torn from your chest. In some cases, some wolves have killed themselves because of the pain." Alison adds on, making the little comfort I had vanish.
"So, if I decide not to stay with Josh, there's a possibility of him dying?" The two look sad, but nod their heads.
"Jenn, he really is a sweet guy. It's obvious how much he is already falling for you. Everyone can tell just by the way he looks at you. I understand this is all new to you, but please just give him and us some time before making a final decision?" Stefanie was pleading with me, and it made my heart tighten.
"Well, good news ladies. I am giving this werewolf world a chance. My belongings and Loki are already in my room." They stare at each other before looking at me with wide eyes. "What! Why didn't you tell us that sooner!" I laugh at there expressions.
"I literally spent the entire day with Josh packing my house up and putting it on the market. You guys didn't know?" They shake their heads. I guess only Heather and Steven knew what was going on.
"Wait, who is Loki?" Alison asks.
"Come with me, I'll show you." I jump off the bed and head to the door, the two quickly following me.
"Oh my lanta! He is adorable!" Alison shrieks as she sees my lazy cat still laying on my bed. "He is cute, but I'm more of a dog person." Stefanie grins, but still pets Loki, causing him to purr in delight.
"Mind if I join the party?" My heart skips a beat at the sound of his voice. Josh is standing in the door frame smirking at us three. I flash him a smile and he walks into the room.
"And that's our cue. See you later guys!" They both wave to me as they leave the room, shutting the door behind them.
"Hi." I awkwardly say to the handsome man in front of me.
"Hi." He replies back as he cups my face in his hands. Leaning in, he places his forehead against mine. "I am so sorry about what happened in the dining hall. I-
I cut him off by placing a finger to his lips. "It's okay. You don't need to apologize for anything. I had a nice chat with the girls." I smirk at him. His eyes go wide. "Oh no." He fakes being scared.
"They told me about Nicole." He rolls his eyes at the mention of her name. "Trust me, I have no interest in that woman." He growls out. "I know, Josh. I know." I lean in and place a soft kiss on his lips. I go to pull away, but he grabs my waist firmly, preventing me to move. Deepening the kiss, I feel like I'm on a cloud.
"Can I tell you something.. embarrassing?" He locks eyes with me and I begin to stutter. "Y-you are the first man I have ever kissed." I said it low, but I'm sure he heard me with his enhanced wolf hearing.
He gives me the biggest smile I have ever seen and begins to kiss me again. "And I will be the last man you ever kiss as well." Ugh, be still my heart.
