Jennifer's POV
The smile Josh gave me was a contagious one. I couldn't help but smile as well when looking at him. "Thank you, Jenn. For giving us, giving me, a chance." He engulfs me in a hug and places a quick kiss on my cheek. I don't think I'll ever get use to the sparks I feel whenever we make skin contact.
"Um.. I guess I should go home and pack?" I wanted to state, but it came out more like a question. "I'll help. Come on, let's take you home."
I thought I would feel more upset packing up my belongings, but a larger part of me was excited. After Chad showing up here, I don't think I would feel safe in this house anyway. Even with him being dead, it just is a constant reminder of him on my front porch.
"You okay?" I'm brought out of my thoughts when I hear his voice.
"Yes. Just thinking about, well, the house."
"Care to elaborate?" He chuckles as he tapes up the box containing my shoes.
"I'm- I'm not going to miss it. I am looking forward in living with you guys, but I'm also a bit nervous." Josh stops what he's doing and sits on the floor next to me. "I promise, you have nothing to fear. The pack will adore you. Anyone would be stupid not to. You will be safe with us for the rest of your life."
He brings his hand to my face and wipes away a tear with his thumb. I hadn't realized that I was crying until that sweet gesture.
An hour later, the doorbell rang making me jump. I calmed down as soon as I realized it was the realtor. I talked to her while Josh loaded up his car with my belongings. She said my house was beautiful inside and out and would probably sell quick. After taking a bunch of photos of the rooms, she left and said she would be in contact.
Locking the door, we get into his car and head back to the packhouse. "Welcome home, Jennifer." Josh excitedly exclaims the second we walk into the house. I had expected there to be a ton of people roaming around this huge mansion, but I didn't see a single soul. "Where is everyone?" I ask curiously.
"In the dining hall. It's lunch time and I asked if they could all remain in there until I got you settled in." My heart fluttered at his words. I've never met a man who was so considerate of my feelings. "I-I would like to meet them now, if you don't mind." He looked surprised at my statement, but then formed an adorable grin.
"Okay. Lets bring your bags and Loki up to your room and then we will introduce you to the pack."
I follow Josh up to the second floor which he says belongs to the beta, gamma, and delta. "This will be your room...for now." He says with a wink, causing my heart to go in overdrive. Opening the door, I take in the beautiful, spacious room. There's a king size bed with white pillows and comforter with a lavender rug underneath. A huge television hangs on the wall and I even have a small couch with two end tables. The center of the ceiling has a chandelier and I also notice two doors. Walking over, I open the first to reveal my own bathroom! The next door was the largest walk in closet I have ever seen. My favorite thing though is the balcony.
"What do you think?" Josh asks with a smug face. I'm sure he already knows how much I love this room by my expression.
"It will do." I say a shrug. He raises and eyebrow at me as his smug face is replaced with a half smirk. "It will do?" He questions back to me. I simply nod my head. He holds my stare until I give in. "Okay!" I throw my arms up dramatically. "I absolutely love it! This is my dream bedroom."
"Do you think Loki will like it as well?" I don't know why, but I burst out laughing at his question. I kneel down and let Loki out of his cat carrier. "Hi my sweet baby. This is our new home. What do you think?" Josh and I watch as he lazily steps out of the carrier and gives a big stretch before walking around the room. He goes straight to the bed and jumps up on it. Not even a minute later he is making himself comfortable and falls to sleep.
"I think he likes it." I smile at Josh who starts to laugh. "I see that. Okay, come. Let's meet the others." He takes me hand and leads me back downstairs to the dining hall.
To my own surprise, I only feel slightly nervous. I think having Josh by my side is the main reason why I am so calm. I hope I'm not making a huge mistake by trusting a man I literally just met the other day. It feels like I've known him forever though.
