The deal

I froze. “What do you mean “revenge"?” Zargos sat on a chair, while I was sitting on the couch, sipping my coffee. I was confused, but I was interested as well. “I believe you have the power to do something big. What they did to your family, to our pack… I want to take revenge on those cowards. You can do it. Only you can.” I stirred my coffee out of nervousness, trying to find the right words. “You know… Don't get me wrong, I do believe you. But… as disappointing as it sounds, my whole life I haven't made a single thing, that would suggest that I possess a superpower. I’m just an ordinary girl. My life is pretty simple.” I continued to stir the coffee, avoiding his eyes, I felt somehow ashamed that I couldn't live up to his expectations. “What do you think must have happened? To get smoke out of your ears? To spew fire? This is not like your fairytales. I believe that you still poses the power, you just didn't have a reason to use it all those years.“ “ But what power do you talking about? What is it?” “Well, that is complicated. Your father and mother both were werewolves. And not just ordinary werewolves, they were alphas, both of them came from a family of alphas, so you must possess something related to the werewolves, even though you're not one. Then your grandfather, your mother, and other of your siblings were witchers. So you must have inherited some of their powers too. But most importantly, you had a birthmark, that it’s been known to be a characteristic of only one creature. And such creature or some of his kind haven't been born for centuries. It is known that this birthmark is possessed only by it.” My eyes got cristal, my hair stood on end. I knew what mark he was talking about, but I didn't like the rest of the information. My mark was black, small, but not too small, I always thought that it looked like a person. But… a very scary person. Like a black spot with some curve lines – like a torso with head and long spaghetti hair. It really is small, so small that it's actually very hard to distinguish it. But It was my body, after all, and I had plenty of time to stare at it. It always gave me goosebumps, but not in a good way. I knew I had to ask, but I was afraid of the answer. “What… kind of creature is that?” I leaned and put the coffee on the table, my hands starting to tremble. He looked at me with a serious expression. “A demon". … I stood and laughed nervously. “A demon? You think I'm a demon? Have you looked at me properly? I don't look like one. THIS is where I draw the line. I listened to you patiently, now I want you to go.” I gestured with my hand to the front door and went next to it. I stood there, waiting for him to get out. “Don't take it as a bad thing. I know I don't. You'll be probably the most powerful creature down there. Not probably. Certainly. Except If there is another demon-related born then we're screwed.” he chuckled. I remained serious, what kind of a joke was that anyway? He then said “As for your looks, I think this is part of your many weapons. Who would suspect someone with such angelic looks like yours? But don't fool yourself, looks do lie.” I closed the door and sat back on the couch.”I still don't understand, everything is a mess. How can I, and only I, defeat all these packs you're talking about? It's ridiculous!” “No, it's not. As I said, don't imagine you're going to get there and spew fire at them. I already have a plan. You just will have to stick with it.” I thought about all my options and all the questions I had. Do I really want to explore this world? And…do I have a choice? What is Zargos going to do, If I refuse to participate in this…war? Is it safe? I almost laughed at that one. A person with demon and witch characteristics is going to explore the werewolf world. Yeah, definitely a stupid one. „Again, don't get me wrong, but why would I risk doing that? I don't remember anything. I haven't had an opportunity to make a bond with these people, for whom you want me to revenge. Why would I risk my own life? Because it seems like I‘ll have to risk it.“ For the first time, I saw Zargos's eyes getting angrier. I don't know why, but I wasn't feeling scared. I calmly waited for his response. „Because...“ he gasped. It was obvious that he is trying to control his anger.“Because you don't have a choice" I furrowed my eyebrows. „You really want me to think that you can keep with your simple life, after all you got to know? I know you're dying to see what it's like to be in our world, aren't you? But the only way is to agree with my plan. You know nothing about the werewolves, nothing about our rules. You won't be safe, not just because you're just a person and not a werewolf and they will shred you apart the moment you enter their territory. But because you're Alina C. The second they found out who you are, they will kill you without mercy. Do you really think you can do it without my help?“ „You're telling me that the second I go there, most likely I‘ll lose my life? And you still think I'll want to go there?“ „Well, you're not immortal, as far as I know.“ He chuckled again.“But I guarantee you If you listen to me and do what I said, you'll achieve great things! And you'll be as safe as you need.“ I bit my lower lip, excitement dancing in my eyes. „So... When do we get started?“
