Meanwhile Ellen who was passing by the causality and outpatients,  looked hopefully for some sign of doctor Craig but to no avail, which was probably as well, she told herself, before because both departments were busy and even if she had seen him there  she wouldn't have gotten an opportunity to speak to him. She walked briskly past the rows of the patient. Several looked up, hopefully, in her direction as she came towards them, only to settle back Crossley again as she hurried past, smiling apologetically. She couldn't blame them.
