Cody
“I still can’t believe that you two are friends again. Miracles can happen, after all,” Becky said, still in shock.
“I think you have had time to get over it now,” Jasmine laughed, rolling her eyes.
“I know, I know, sorry,” Becky giggles.
The last hour since we arrived has pretty much been the same. I get that Jasmine and I fell out for a long time, but is it really such a surprise that we made up? Honestly, it was starting to annoy me a little. They need to get over it.
“So I see you have a new best friend,” Kevin asked, “And I don’t mean Jasmine,” He added, laughing.
“Uh?” I asked, confused.
“Lily,” He chuckles.
“Yes, I like her better than I like all of you,” I laugh.
“Who knew you had a heart and soft spot for kids,” Kevin teased.
“I think Lily likes him better than she likes me,” Jasmine laughed.
“Obviously, even if she is trying to plan a wedding for us,” I chuckle.
Jasmine and I bust out laughing when I said that, while everyone else looked at us confused.
“Have we missed something?” Becky asked.
“Lily suggested that we get married because we love each other and make each other happy,” Jasmine giggles.
“The girl has a point,” Becky smirked.
Jasmine picked a fry up and threw it at her.
“Shut up,” Jasmine said.
Becky glared at her. In return, Jasmine smirked and popped a couple of fries into her mouth. I have missed seeing this side of Jasmine. She has always had a cheeky, funny side to her, but I haven’t seen it in a long time because of everything that has happened between us.
I changed the subject after that. I don’t want to talk about it too much in case Jasmine starts closing up again. I was still on edge with it all in case I messed up.
“Everyone ready to leave?” Kevin asked.
We were heading to the woods, our usual spot, but without the drinking and smoking. It was just going to be a fun night, all of us hanging out. We were all going in different cars since most of us drove here.
Jasmine and I headed to her car. I rested my hand on the small of her back, guiding us towards the car. I let Jasmine climb into the driver’s seat first, and then I climbed in.
“Do you think everyone will leave us alone now?” She asked.
“We shouldn’t count on it,” I chuckle.
Jasmine laughs and shakes her head. I am sure by tomorrow. They will have moved on and got over the excitement. I hope. I also hope that they all don’t try and play cupid and set Jasmine and me up. That is the kind of thing they would do. I don’t want them even to try because it could mess everything up with us. I probably shouldn’t be thinking about it because it will make me nervous.

We were all sitting around a fire in the woods, music playing in the background from Jasmine’s car. Jasmine was sitting next to me, shivering a little. I slipped my jacket off and placed it over her shoulders. I slipped my arm around her and pulled her close to me.
“Thank you,” She smiled, resting her head on my shoulder.
I smile and kiss the top of her head. Jasmine looks up at me, a soft smile on her lips. She turned back to everyone else after that.
“So, are you two only going to stay friends?” Becky asked.
“Yes, so whatever you are thinking, don’t,” Jasmine said, removing her head from my shoulder, sighing.
“Sorry,” Becky said, holding her hands up.
“Guys and girls can be only friend’s you know,” Jasmine replied.
I could sense that Jasmine was getting slightly annoyed.
“I know, sorry I said anything,” Becky said softly.
She must sense too that Jasmine was getting uncomfortable with the topic. Jasmine shrugged and grabbed her phone, looking at that. I could see that Becky had regretted bringing it up.
“You want to go for a walk?” I ask.
Jasmine nods, and we excuse ourselves from everyone else. Jasmine linked her arm with mine, resting her head on my arm.
“Do you think that is how this is going to be now? Everyone trying to get us together?” She asks.
“Hopefully not,” I said, “Especially since we have only made up, and I don’t want things getting strange between us,” I added.
“We just need to keep telling them to drop it anytime they bring it up,” Jasmine suggested.
I nodded in agreement when she said that. I am sure if we do that enough, they will completely back off. Jasmine and I walked deeper into the woods, and it was getting darker as we did.
“I think we should head back,” She whispers, clinging on to me, “You don’t know who is lurking in here,” She added.
“Aww, baby girl, are you scared? Don’t worry, I will protect you from the big, scary woods monster,” I replied, laughing.
Jasmine stopped, turning to be and glared.
“Are you taking the piss out of me?” She pouted, “Don’t make me hurt you,” She added, laughing.
I smirked, grabbing her and pulling her to me. I got surprised when a groan fell from my lips when I feel her this close to me. What is that all about? I watch a devilish grin creep onto Jasmine’s lips.
“Hmm, if I didn’t know any better, I would say having me this close to you is getting to you,” She said, “Is there something you need to tell me, Cody?” She added, resting her hand on my chest.
What is she playing at? She was acting annoyed at me only a moment ago, and now it would seem she is sort of flirting with me.
“Jas, what, what are you doing?” I stammered out.
The look on her face was confusing me, badly, right now.
“Nothing, why, is this getting to you?” She added, pressing herself into me.
I swallowed hard, with no words falling from my lips. She was affecting me. Suddenly she laughed loudly and pulled away from me.
“Ha, serves you right for mocking me,” She smirked before walking away.
I groan and curse under my breath as she walks away. She was teasing me because I was doing it to her, just in a different way. She was right. I did deserve it. I laugh and shake my head, going to catch up with her.
“Nicely played,” I chuckle, slipping my arm around her shoulder.
“I know,” She giggles, grinning up at me, “Now, can we please head back?” She added.
I nodded, keeping her close to me as we headed back to our friends. I know she was messing with me back there, but there is a part of me that wonders if maybe I did enjoy it more than I should have.
I swear it is what everyone else is saying. It is messing with my damn head. Jasmine was gorgeous, I can’t deny that, and yes, only weeks ago I wanted to get her into bed, but not now, well, not in the way I did back then.
I can’t let my thoughts go down that road because I will do or say something stupid to her if I do. If I lose her again, I know this time, it will be for good, which is the last thing that I want or need.
