Cody Baker, the bane of my existence.

The school bad boy, and my ex-best friend.

We grew up together, and we used to be close. He was the one I told my secrets too, and he told me his, and it was that way for a long time until he changed. He turned into someone I did not know. He turned into the kind of guy he used to hate.

The moment he changed was the moment we fell apart. A part of me hated him, and he knew it. He spends his day annoying me, trying to add me to just another notch on his bedpost, but that would never happen. I would not lower myself to that. I was no angel, but I was not stupid enough to go there.

It was bad enough I still had to see him every day at school. My only sanctuary away from him is my house, somewhere he rarely came to now, but now even that has been taken away from me, why? Because he is coming to stay with us for two weeks while his mother is out of town. I need to try my best not to kill him while he is there.

The moment my mother told me he was coming I was dreading it, and rightly so, but what I didn't expect was that two weeks could be the start to changing everything for Cody and me once again.

Chapter One - New house guest
Jasmine    I was heading to my car after school had finished. I was ready for home. I liked school, but I was exhausted today. I got close to my car, and then someone got in my way. I looked up and rolled my eyes.    “What the hell do you want, Cody,” I snapped.    Cody Baker, the most annoying human being on the planet! The bane of my existence. I was not one for hating anyone, but I made an exception for him years ago.    “I am sure I have made that clear, plenty of times,” He said smirking.    “And I have told you, a million times, that is never going to happen! I would not go anywhere near you, even if you were the last guy on earth,” I said, firmly.    “Why do you keep fighting it, J? I know you want me,” He said smugly.    God, can I punch him already? I hate when he calls me J. I am not into violence, but I could change my views when it came to him. I pushed him out of my way, walking back him and headed straight to my car. He spent every day of his life annoying me!    Cody was the bad boy of our school. He was always getting into trouble and screwing around. I am no Angel, but next to him, I could be. I was more desperate now to get home. I didn’t stay too far from the school anyway. I pulled into the driveway and headed inside.    “Hey sweetie, how was school?” my mum asked.    “Hey mum, not bad,” I said.    “Can I talk to you a minute?” She asked.    “Um, sure,” I said, going to sit next to her.    “Jasmine!” my little sister Lilly said, rushing over to me.    Lilly was six, and the sweetest little girl in the world. She was a surprise for my parents, but this house wouldn’t feel right if she wasn’t here.    “Hey Princess,” I smiled, hugging her as she climbed into my lap.    I turned to my mum since she said she wants to talk to me.    “Um, we will have a house guest for a couple of weeks,” She said.    “We will, who?” I asked.    I had no clue who she was talking about.    “Cody,” She said.    “What? Why? No? Don’t do this to me,” I groaned.    Cody’s mum and my mum were best friends, have been for years. Cody and I used to best friends at one point until we were thirteen, and then he started changing, and turned into a complete jackass!    “Because Jackie needs to go and stay with her mum because she had a fall and needs help at home,” Mum said, “And she doesn’t want Cody missing that long of school especially since there is only a couple of months left of school,” She added.    “Why do you hate me? I am moving out while he is here,” I groaned.    “Oh, Jasmine, stop being so dramatic,” Mum laughed.    “I am not. It is bad enough I need to see him at school every day, never mind him staying here,” I said.    “I do not understand what happened between you two. You used to be best friends,” She said.    I covered Lily’s ears before answering.    “We were, and then he turned in to a complete jackass,” I said.    “Jasmine, you know he has been through a lot,” She said softly.    “I know that, but that doesn’t give him the right to treat everyone else like crap,” I said.    Cody changed once his parents got divorced. His dad left, and now has a new family and doesn’t even bother with Cody. Cody was twelve when he left, and since that he just changed completely.    “The two of you used to be inseparable,” She said.    “Things change mum,” I shrugged, “He is nothing like the boy I used to know,” I added.    “He isn’t a bad boy, he just makes bad choices,” She said.    I don’t think my mother or his realise just what trouble he gets into or how he uses girls. If they did, I am sure the opinion would be very different.    “When is he coming?” I asked.   “Tomorrow,” She said, “It may be longer than two weeks, it just depends, but Jackie said she would get back as quick as possible,” she added.    “OK,” I sighed.    I can’t believe he will be staying here. Now I am stuck with him, nearly twenty-four hours a day. There is a good chance I may end up in jail for killing him by the end of his time here.   “Maybe this will give you both a chance to sort things out,” mum said hopefully.   “No, that is not going to happen, mum, so please don’t get your hopes up, OK?” I said, “I will be polite to him, but don’t expect me to make it feel like home for him, because I won’t,” I added.    “I wish you would sort things out,” She sighed, “We always thought you two would end up together,” She added.   As soon as she spoke the words, I bust out laughing. Cody and me? No! I wouldn’t go near him if someone paid me. I know where he has been, with close to every girl in our year, and whoever else outside of school.    “Not if he was the last guy on earth,” I said.    “That is a slight exaggeration,” She laughed.    “No, it isn’t,” I said, “I know where he has been,” I added.    The thought of it was enough to make my skin crawl. Cody was a good-looking guy, not even I could deny that, but looks mean nothing if he is a complete jackass with an attitude problem. He has no respect for anyone, and because of that, I have no respect for him. The girls seemed to love the dark hair, blue eyes, a slightly crooked smile, but it suits him. He takes care of himself, too, you can see that when you look at him. He also has a lip piercing which all the girls find sexy. I do not like it, and then to add to it, he has quite a few tattoos. Those I do like, he has some incredible ones, but none of that matter because he is a douche!    My mum laughed and shook her head. Any time he is around my mum, he plays all sweet, and she falls for it. I know it is bullshit!    “I am going to go and get my homework done before dinner,” I said.    “Then will you play with me? After dinner, before bed?” Lily asked.    “Of course, what are we playing tonight?” I smiled.    I had a lot of time for Lily. I know many teenagers can’t be assed with younger siblings, but that isn’t me. I love spending time with Lily.    “Lego,” She said excited, “Will you read me my bedtime story tonight?” She added.    “Sure thing, sweet girl,” I smiled.    I will read her bedtime story, and leave her in her own bed, but at least a couple of nights a week she sneaks into my room and sleeps with me. I don’t mind.    “Yay,” She said, hugging me tightly.    Lily got down from my lap and went back to playing with her toys. I grabbed my bag and headed to my room to get my homework done. There wasn’t much, but I wouldn’t instead get it out of the way. I got out of my clothes, and into my sweats before sitting on my bed to get started. As I did, my phone went, telling me I had a text. I grabbed it, groaning when I see Cody’s name on it. I still do not know how he got my phone number. I didn’t give it to him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he talked one of my friends into giving it to him.    Hey, did you hear the good news, we are going to be living together for the next couple of weeks. This is going to be fun  X    Fun? No, it is going to be hell! I text him back.    Yes, I heard the bad news! And there will be nothing fun about it! Now leave me alone!    I hoped he would get the hint and not text back, but I should have known better because I had another text from him only a moment later.    I am looking forward to it. See you soon, gorgeous X    I rolled my eyes, tossing my phone aside. I am not replying. I can’t believe this is happening. What did I ever do to deserve this?    The next two weeks or so are going to be hell!
