Jasmine
I headed to my locker to get what I need for the next class. It would seem it was pre-occupied with two students making out. The closer I got, I realised who it was. Cody, and Zara, one of the cheerleaders.
“You wanna go do that somewhere else, please?” I said.
“Sorry, Jasmine,” Zara said blushing.
What was she doing with Cody? She is one of the few sensible ones that usually stay away from guys like Cody. Cody didn’t move from his position in front of Zara, who was still pressed against my locker.
“Move, Cody,” I said, annoyed.
“Make me,” He smirked.
Cody was back to be his asshole self again for the last couple of days. He was doing my head in, and I have been very close to slapping him more than once.
“Now!” I hissed, “Zara, what are you doing with him anyway? You can do way better,” I added, looking at her.
“f**k you, Jasmine,” Cody snapped and stormed off.
Zara stood there looking a little embarrassed.
“Bye,” She said, quickly rushing off too.
Will these girls ever learn? I shook my head, grabbing what I needed from my locker, before going to next class. Cody was sulking up the back of the classroom like a child. The moment I walked in her glared at me. I think I made him mad again. My bad. I flashed my best smile at him, shrugging and took my seat. I don’t know what he is getting mad about. I am sure he will be all over some other girl by lunchtime. I feel my phone vibrate in my jacket. I had a feeling about who it was before even looking at it. I took it out, and just as I thought, it was a text from Cody.
Thanks for c**k-blocking me! Not!
I rolled my eyes the moment I read it. I know Zara. She wouldn’t have had s*x with him anyway. She is very set on not having s*x until she was married. Yes, that doesn’t include other things, but full-on, she is adamant that isn’t happening until she is married. And good on. I just hope Cody doesn’t find a way to change that.
I didn’t respond to his text. I put my phone away. He didn’t deserve a response. I wasn’t getting into trouble because of him either. I was dreading the weekend away with him. If we weren’t going to see his Grandma, I would have found an excuse to stay away from him. I will just need to suck it up and get on with it. I will keep telling myself only another eleven days or something to go.
I was a little disappointed he was back to being a complete asshole because I thought things were getting better, even slightly, but I guess not. What do I expect, though? I sighed, shaking my head, and pushed him to the back of my mind.

I arrived home from school, dumping my things at the front door. I would take them upstairs when I got up. Right now, though, I need food. I didn’t have much of my lunch because I helped one of my classmates with their maths work because they were struggling. I didn’t mind. I like to help people when I can.
“Hey sweetie, how was your day?” My mum asked.
My mum was making Lily a snack. They were probably not long in before me.
“Hey mum, not too bad you?” I asked, “Hey Princess,” I added, hugging Lily.
“Hello, Jassy,” She giggled.
She is the only one that gets away with calling me that. The three of us caught up on our days. Lily hurried off for a moment. She was going to get a picture that she had drawn for me. I found it sweet when she did. She does it a lot. I have a wall in my room, just for the things she makes me.
“Here you go,” She smiled, handing it to me.
“Thanks, sweetie,” I smiled.
It was a picture of a blue sky and a big sunshine smile. The rest looked like a garden with a swimming pool and three people in what looked like a garden.
“That is you, me and Cody,” She said, smiling widely.
“Thanks, sweet, it’s great,” I smiled, hugging her.
“Maybe one day, you and Cody can be friends again,” She smiled.
Lily had become fond of Cody while he has been staying here. I do have to give him something; he has always been good with her. And even if he was in a shitty mood anytime while he has been here, he still had time for her.
“Maybe,” I smiled.
“Your dad and I were talking, and I think maybe we will need to take two cars,” my mum said, “We could all fit in mine, but it doesn’t leave much room for what we need to take with us,” She added.
“I can take my car with the things,” I said.
“Yes, we thought that you and Cody could go in yours,” My mum smiled.
No! Can they not take Cody, and I will take Lily and the things we need? I don’t want to be stuck in a car for three and a half hours with Cody. But that is what we will need to do. Lily isn’t the best at travelling. She gets car sick and would rather be with my parents when that happens.
“If I have too,” I sighed.
“Yes, maybe you two stuck together in the car will give you both time to talk without any of you trying to walk away,” She said.
“Or only one of us will make it there,” I said.
“Oh, Jasmine, stop being so dramatic,” Mum laughed, shaking her head.
“I am only telling the truth,” I laughed.
I grabbed myself a quick sandwich. It will do until dinner. My mum made us both a coffee and Lily a mug of tea. The girl loves her tea. As we chatted, we hear the front door open. Cody, yay! Not!
“Hey,” He smiled, popping his head into the kitchen.
“Cody, come see my picture I drew,” Lily said.
He came over, and Lily showed him where it was and told him what it was.
“That’s great, sweetie,” He smiled.
“Thank you, you and Jasmine share that one, OK? And I will draw another one tomorrow,” She said brightly.
“OK, champ,” Cody smiled, ruffling her hair.
My mum told him to help himself to coffee. He was going to go to his room and drink it, but Lily wasn’t letting that happen. He ended up sitting with us. Great!
“The plan for this weekend,” my mum said, “You and Jasmine can go in her car, and then us three will go in mine. That way, it gives everyone room, and our things will fit in,” She added.
I see Cody roll his eyes. I don’t think my mum caught it, though. He smiled and nodded at her. God help me.
“I think we are all going out for dinner tonight,” mum said, “Your dad wants to try the new Italian place that just opened, and there is a good kids menu too, so it works for everyone. And before any of you ask, no, you can’t stay at home, we are all going,” She added.
“Yes, ma’am,” Cody and I said in sync.
My mum and Lily were laughing at us when we did. I hoped Cody had other plans, so he didn’t have to come, but it would seem he doesn’t. Great.
“I am going to do my homework,” I said, getting up.
I wanted a little me time before tonight.
“We are going out at six,” My mum said.
“OK, that is fine,” I smiled.
I grabbed my things and headed to my room and closed the door behind me. I sighed in relief at the silence. Yes, this will do for the next couple of hours.
