Remember Tales of the Unexpected ? Alfred Hitchcock Presents ? I know I missed the mark when I was asked to write a story about this green and pleasant land I call home, but I couldn’t help myself. I focused on people more than places, and instinctively started thinking about those TV series of old and how the twist in tale often involved looking under the prim and proper surface of life in parts of the UK and revealing what lies beneath. We English can be frustratingly polite much of the time, and it often causes more problems than we’d like to admit.
