Chapter 9

1151 Words
As they walked back inside the packhouse Dean noticed that Sophia seemed to be taking in her surroundings, checking out everyone and everything she was able to see, he wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. As he was about to lead her up the stairs so that she could get some more sleep she gently placed her hand on his arm. God would he ever get used to that feeling? "Actually, do you think we could get something to eat? I didn't eat before my shift last night and then I obviously passed out and woke up here and I still haven't eaten." "s**t," Dean said scrubbing his hand over his face. How could he have forgotten to feed her? "Because you suck" Xander chuckled. "Let me hunt I'll get food for my mate." "She doesn't want to eat rabbits or game right now Xan, she doesn't even have a wolf. How would she eat that?" "She would cook it, idiot." Xander may have been a bit more testy since they found their mate but he could hear the underlying sadness in his voice. Having a human for a mate meant that Xander wouldn't have a wolf side to bond with. He knew Xander already loved Sophia but it was still going to be hard for him. "You're right" he told Xander, "but maybe right now we stick with something a little easier since she's hungry at the moment. We can revisit you hunting for her later." "Okay, fine. But feed mate now." Dean couldn't help but smirk at Xander's orders. He went to take Sophia's hand when he noticed she was staring at him and realized he must have been zoned out for a minute talking to Xander. "Sorry about that," he started to explain, "I was just chatting with Xander. He's mad that I didn't feed you sooner and I had to talk him out of shifting to chase you down a rabbit or something to eat." She stood there for a second before a blinding smile covered her face. "He wanted to hunt for food for me?" She gushed, "that is so sweet." She bit her lip before continuing, "if I'm talking to you can Xander hear what I'm saying?" "Yes and no, you have his attention right now because he wants to make sure you eat but he won't always be listening in. I guess you could kind of think of it like a walkie talkie. If someone is tunes in they can hear what you're saying but if they don't, they won't be able to, even if they have access to the walkie talkie. He's always there but that doesn't mean he's paying attention or always on." "Huh, okay I guess that makes sense. But he is listening right now, right?" "Yes" Dean snorted out, "you have his full attention." "Hi Xander, it was really nice to meet you earlier and I'm sorry that I was scared of you at first. Thank you for thinking of me though. And for future reference, while I do know how to clean and cook rabbit, my favorite game meat is deer. But I am pretty hungry right now so I'd like to grab something from the kitchen, but maybe later we can plan to hunt and cook something together?" She gasped as she continued looking at him and he knew his eyes were changing color as he and Xander warred for control. In the end they were in a state of shared control so Dean couldn't even blame his next move on Xander entirely. He swiftly pulled Sophia to him, threaded his hand in her hair, and brought her face up to his as he crashed his mouth down onto hers. She didn't move for a few seconds, but right before he pulled away from her, she relaxed her body and began tentatively kissing him back. She kissed him like she was exploring his mouth and he was surprised when he felt her tongue poke out and trail along his bottom lip. He slowly opened his mouth for her and groaned when he felt her exploring his mouth with her tongue. She began kissing him back harder and more passionately. He picked her up and turned them so her back was up against the wall and he ground his hardening length between her thighs. She moaned into his mouth and he almost lost it right then and there. He was so out of it he would have taken it further if not for someone yelling his Goddamn name. Jesus Christ couldn't these people leave him alone for five minutes. He pulled his lips off of Sophia's as he turned to see who was calling him "What" he growled out, "could you possibly want right now?" He asked his Beta who stood staring at them with a smirk on his face. "Look, I'm really happy the two of you are getting on but you look like you're about two seconds away from stripping her down and going at it on the stairs. And while I'm sure everyone would enjoy the show, knowing you, you'd kill everyone that saw your mate naked and like half the pack is in here today." Shit, he was right, he had almost lost complete control of his emotions. He turned to look at Sophia who was as red as a f*****g cherry. "f**k, you're right. Thank you." He told his Beta, who then turned and left him alone with Sophia once again. "I'm sorry" she said quietly. "I don't know what came over me. I'm not that forward, I promise I'm not like some kind of w***e or something, I've never even kissed, I'm just, I'm sorry." Her rambling would have been cute if she didn't think she was a w***e for kissing someone. "Soph," he said, grabbing her chin and tilting her back up and away from the floor where her eyes had been glued since Matt left. "You have nothing to apologize for at all, we both lost our cool a bit. And I would never think you were a w***e, do you really think kissing someone makes you that? Honestly, I don't even like when that word is used to talk about women at all. We all know what that word means but I don't think anyone in our pack has ever used it. s****l expression is a big part of pack life. I'm not saying we're all running around having s*x in the stairwell but you won't find anyone here calling someone a w***e because they like to kiss, or have s*x. I don't ever want to hear you talk about yourself like that again okay?" She nodded her head shakily, "okay" she agreed. "Good, now let's go get you some food." He told her, pulling her to him again and kissing the top of her head.
