32- Patience Part II

1835 Words
Kelsie's POV "I'm done," I whispered to myself. I faced Laine with a cold expression. The smirk on her face faded and her eyes widen. I thought it was a genuine expression, but under her frightened eyes is a sparkle of excitement. My mind is too busy thinking of the things that I will do to her when suddenly, I saw her arms move. From her behind, she pulled out an empty glass bottle, which I do not have an idea where she got. The way she throws the bottle in my direction is in slow motion from my perspective. However, instead of catching the bottle or avoiding it, I let it hit my head. This time the crowd's laughter echoes in the room. My eyes dropped to the ground while the broken bottle of beer rolled towards my feet. I stare at the floor, watching the bottle roll slowly until my foot stopped it. The shattered pieces of the bottle are scattered on the ground. The bottle landed on my temple. I instinctively place my hand on the part where I was hit. I can feel a sticky feeling at the back of my head. When I place my hand in front of me, my insides turned cold. My hand is now covered with my own blood. Weirdly, my body feels cold. I can feel my palms sweating and my breath hitches. My insides are crumbling and the feeling of excitement rises. Adrenaline enters my system. I feel like I am floating in my place. I am conscious of what I am doing but at the same time, I don't feel like I am the one in control of my body. This is a very familiar feeling to me... The cravings for blood and pain. My eyes landed straight on Laine. She is standing in front of me. With her furrowed brows, I think she's either confused or she's trying to hide her nervousness. Without an ounce of humor, I smirked. "You asked for this," I said in a cold tone. Everyone around us seems quiet. I can see in my peripheral vision that some of their lips are moving but I can't hear anything. The only my senses can pick is the movement of Laine. "Should I be scared?" she sarcastically replied. My gaze turned colder. I can sense everyone is watching but my focus is all on her. In just a snap of a finger, I managed to stand right in front of her. I notice how her smirk faded and her eyes widens in shock. "Surprised?" I whispered. Her lips parted but before she can utter a word, I throw an uppercut punch. It hit her jaw and she flew meters away from me. I can hear the crowd cheering but it sounds subtle and vague. I feel like my senses can only detect whatever Laine is doing. She tried to use her arms as a support for her weight and tried to stand on her feet. but before she can complete her move, I kicked her arm and hit her elbow. "Argghhh!" Her long and loud scream bounces at the corners of the room along with the gasps of the crowd. Out of a sudden, the audience went into dead silence. I thought some higher-rank member entered the room, but when my eyes landed on Laine, I now understand the reasons for the gasps. Laine's left arm broke. And when I say broke, her arm is bent. I think I hit her joint or probably broke a bone. "H-Help..." she uttered weakly. However, I don't feel any remorse at all. She can no longer move or even lift her left arm. I slowly walk towards her. The crowd did not dare to say a word. "H-Help, please! Don't make her come near me. Please!" she begged. She crawled backward while keeping her eyes on me, scared of what I might do if she removed her gaze in front. "Please, a-anyone, please!" She desperately crawls away from me, but given her disadvantage, I manage to reach her. I stand in front of her and look down at her body on the floor. She cried hard when she realized she can't do anything to save herself. My body feels like floating. Even with her cries and begging, all I can think about is how she threw things at me when I did nothing other than be nice. The smirk on her face and her confidence earlier boosts my adrenaline. I feel so energetic and all I want to do is release this energy within me. I was about to reach her hair and yank it hard when she lifts her head and meets my gaze with her wet and bloodshot eyes. I feel like I was snapped back into reality when she crawled towards me and snaked her arms on my leg. She kneels in front of me while crying her eyes out. My eyes landed on her and suddenly, everything went back to reality. I can already hear the whispers of the crowd and I can feel the thick air surrounding us. "P-Please, spare me, princess. Please!" she cried. This time, her voice sounds clear, unlike earlier when it sounds distant. Before I can react, someone from my behind grabbed my arm and pulled me away from Laine. I looked at my stepsister who is glaring at me. "Stop it, will you?" she uttered. Whispers around us sound like bees talking to each other. My lips parted and were about to say a word but she immediately turns her back on me. She attended to Laine and kneel in front of her to level their faces. My brows furrowed at the scene. 'So I am the bad girl now, huh?' "Oh my gosh, Laine, are you okay?!" she asked. Laine cried and she wrapped her in her arms. Kristine faced me while she let Lain cry in her chest. "You do nothing but trouble every time you show yourself in public. How about shut up in your room?" she said in a low tone. This time, I found my voice back. "I was just defending myself. She attacked me first." She scoffed. "Well, as the daughter of the alpha, shouldn't you have long patience for the members? That way, everyone can have peace," she replied. She scooped Laine in her arms and gently parts her head, making Lain cry louder. I almost puke at what I see. What a bunch of fakes! "Kristine thinks and acts like a Luna. I hope she will be our Luna." My thought was halted when I hear the whisper from the crowd. I lift my head and roam my eyes among them in the hopes to find where the voice is coming from. However, I was only welcomed by the eyes darted at me. Those same judging eyes that enjoy watching someone suffer in front of them for the sake of their entertainment. "Kelsie perfectly matches the Alpha who almost killed two of our members." "You mean, the incident that happens on the coronation night?" "Yes. That alpha almost killed two of our members. I heard he was siding with Kelsie and planning to kill the two." "Really? That's wild!" "They are both violent. I hope he will be her mate so Kelsie can move out of our pack. She's the only rotten flower here in our garden!" My jaw drop. What the hell are they talking about? I'm the rotten one? The audacity of these people! I completely face the crowd. I look at them with my glaring eyes. They made a step backward way from me. I advanced a step. But before I can reach the nearest one in front of me to confront, Kristine suddenly meddled. "Why aren't you scared? Is the rumor true?" she asked. I turn my head to the side to have a view of her. I watch her help Laine stand on her feet and motioned her to join the crowd. Laine obliged and walk towards their group of friends while grimacing in pain. Kristine looked at me and locked our gaze. "Is it true that Alpha Connor is your boyfriend? Is that why you are not afraid of being reprimanded?" she asked. Whispers around us went loud and others gasped in shock. I know she saw us earlier. I am also aware of how she thinks. I wonder what she plotted in her mind after seeing me in Connor's room. "And where did you get that news?" I asked with my brows arched. "I heard you failed the test for the Guardians..." "What? she failed?" "Oh, gosh. That's f*cking embarrassing!" "Who would fail this test? That was extreme!" "I thought I was the dumbest in this pack. Good thing Kelsie was born." I heard plenty of overreacting side comments from the crowd, but none of them made me flinch. I am used to these kinds of comments that they became an everyday part of my life. "I also heard that you talked to Connor to give you another chance. And he agreed." The sides of her lips stretch up for a small smirk. I gritted my teeth. I can already sense what she is trying to do. She travels her eyes to the crowd and back to me. "Don't you think it's unfair? If ever the rumor was true that the Alpha is your current boyfriend, and he gave you a chance to take the test, then how can we assure that this test is legit and fair?" Again, the crowd sounded like wild bees. Their whispers irritate me that none of their words registered in my mind. I take a deep sigh with my lips closed to relax my mind. "Mrs. Percy was the one who told me to talk to Connor. Everyone has the right to ask for a second chance to take the test. If you are that affected, you can also talk to Connor." "But I heard earlier that you failed the test because you woke up late. Is it a valid excuse to let you take a second chance at the test? I do not think irresponsibility is an acceptable reason," she replied. The way her shoulders stand firm and her smiles plastered on her face, I can sense she won't back down easily. "So, is Alpha Connor giving her a favor? Just because she is his girlfriend?" someone in the crowd asked. "Is it true that she is his girlfriend? I never heard Connor confirming that he's in a relationship." "He is already an Alpha. He should be aware that this kind of news should be announced formally to the whole pack!" "Maybe it isn't true that she is his girlfriend. Probably just a f*ck toy? Kelsie has a great body." Questions and opinions from the crowd continued. I do not know whether I'll deal with my stepsister first or clear the rumors up. 'F*ck!' I curse in my mind.
