32- Patience

Kelsie's POV "Sorry, I didn't see you there. I hope you can forgive me, princess." The mockery in her voice is very evident which makes me want to rub off the sarcastic smile plastered on her face. My hands curled into a fist. I can feel my nails digging into my palm. I am trying my best to not be in trouble and am a law-abiding member of our pack, but there are people who will always try to push you to the edge. I can feel the people around us thickens. More and more pack members surround us. The room sounded like a beehive as their whispers bounces against the corners of the room. I look at the girl coldly. There are a group of girls behind the girl that bumps into me. Included in their group is my stepsister. I can feel the ghost of a smile on her face even with a few feet gap between us two. Seriously, is this one of her sick tricks again? I rolled my eyes mentally. As much as I want to smack off the face of this b*tch, I have to stay calm. I should not let my emotions dictate me. I look at the girl with a cold expression. I notice her making a step backward. I couldn't help but let a small smirk flashes on my lips. It's obvious that they are scared of me. I wonder if she will attack me this way if my stepsister and her g**g aren't at her back. Instead of giving them what they want, I decided to walk away from the crowd. I turn my back to her and was about to walk past the pool of people when suddenly, my head fall back and I felt a pain on my scalp. The crowd gasped and some cheered. "Where are you going, princess? We're still talking," the girl uttered while yanking my hair from behind. I grit my teeth as I reach for her hand on my hair, trying to grab my hair back. "Let me go," I said in controlled anger. "And if I won't?" she asked rhetorically. "Then you'll regret it," I quickly replied. All of a sudden, she let go of my hair and pushed me. I stand straight and fix my stance. I then rake my hair with my fingers. I thought she wanted to give this up, but her laughs then echoed in the room. I roamed my eyes around. Good thing the elders aren't here. They are probably in their bedrooms or their own houses. The girl keeps laughing until someone in the crowd shouted. "Cut the crap, Laine! Give us a good show!" the guy shouted. The crowd roared out of excitement. I faced the girl named Laine. I shoot a brow up when I saw the pressure in her eyes. She made a glance behind her. When I traced her line of sight, I landed on my stepsister. I scoff. So, I'm right. This is one of her tricks again. Too bad, I won't fall for it. "Let's do this!" the girl named Laine screamed. The crowd cheered and others are whispering. She takes a deep sigh and shakes her hands in front of her. My brows furrowed. It's obvious that she's nervous around me and just trying to make herself feel confident. I wonder how Kristine made her do this. Laine positioned herself in front of me. I languidly look at her. I feel like I am about to yawn. I look at her from head to toe and back to her face. Just by looking at her posture, I know I can easily smack her face to the ground. "What quarter are you?" I asked. Laine blinked, probably confused by my sudden question. The crowd silences a little, but there are still some who keep on screaming. I hope Mrs. Percy or an elder will hear them so this will stop. I do not think they will let me out of here until I give them what they want. "S-Salutary..." I crossed my arms over my chest and rolled my eyes. I did not even try to hide it. "Are you serious?" I asked mockingly. Not that I degrade the Salutary wolves, but frankly speaking, they are not fit for this kind of battle. "Salutary wolves are supposed to treat injured members, not to make members injured." Waves of laughter echoed in the room. Laine threw a glare at me. I saw her jaw clenched. I did not let anyone notice, but I positioned myself. A small smile appears on my lips as I watch Laine attack me. I already anticipated this so before she can make a move, in a swift motion, I closed our gap. Her eyes widen at my sudden move. When her shoulders went at ease, it is a sign to me that she will charge her attack. She throw a punch at me, but I quickly ducked and target her leg by kicking her ankle. I stand on my feet and watch her knees kiss the floor. I made a step backward and look down at her as she grimaced in pain. "Stop it. You know to yourself that you are no match for me," I coldly said. She reached for her leg that I kicked. Even with a swift look, I saw her glancing in the direction of my stepsister. I sigh. I chew my bottom lip as I stare at the girl on the floor. I mentally shake my head. I face my stepsister who is standing in the right corner with her cronies. "Stop it, will you?" I cross my arms and shoot my brow up. The crowd's eyes shifted to her. Her expression immediately softens. She points at herself and even looks side by side to make sure she is the one I'm talking to. "Are you talking to me?" she asked in her fake soft voice. I roll my eyes and scoffed. Seriously? Is anyone buying her acting skills? I quietly travel my eyes around. Some are looking at me with confusion, while others are smiling from ear to ear, probably sensing that something exciting might happen. Well, sorry to burst out their bubbles, but I have no plans of engaging in any trouble right now. I just defended myself earlier but I have no plans of giving them a show that they want to see. I let out a harsh sigh and darted my eyes to Kristine. "Look. If you want to fight me, fight me yourself. Stop using others. Coward." My stepsister gritted her teeth. My eyes dropped to her waist and saw her hands on a fist. Before she can answer, I turn to face my back. I am planning to walk away. No one in the crowd dared to speak. One by one, they made a way for me by stepping aside. However, before I reached the door, I felt a hard thing hit the back of my head. I looked down and saw a hard-covered book fall on my feet. I lift my chin and looked straight in front of me. I shut close my eyes and curled my hands into a ball. I bite my bottom lip as I tried to calm myself. However, the sound of the crowd laughing, some whispering, while others are trying to hold back their chuckles is too much for me. 'I've done enough. This is probably the longest patience I had.' They should thank me for giving them such long patience. I opened my eyes and the same group of crowd welcomed me. Amidst the pool of people in front of me, the soft chuckles of my stepsister are overpowering everyone's voice. "I'm done," I whispered to myself. I faced Laine with a cold expression. The smirk on her face faded and her eyes widens. ----- Unedited. English is not my first language.
