I was in the gym working out taking my mind off a few things, I was going to meet up with Barron later as we have some business to discuss. Barron was also dealing with some issues in his territory but he will be here soon, I was deep in thought as I was kickboxing. I could feel Lauren, she was in the Palace and I smiled, she was visiting her parents today, she had been better, a lot better and I was glad that she was living a normal life, it was all I wanted for her, a chance at true happiness. Her former mate has three kids with Zaina now and although Lauren still seems hurt by it sometimes, she has moved on, however, I know she wishes it was her. She loved Gale, no one could deny that and she still holds out hope for a second chance mate, I hope her wish is granted one day. "Papa," she yelled and ran towards me, I hugged her, missing her, and asked about her mother, she told me about their fun time and then I saw Marie.

She just walked in and Lauren smiled and linked me, "Bye, Papa," before leaving, Marie hugged me and said, "If I didn't know any better, I would be jealous." I kissed her saying, "No one else comes close," we talked about our daughters looking to hold a ball to find their mates. Eli mated a few years back, he was mated to Alpha Andrew before finding Minty, that scenario between them is not my story to tell but it worked out in the end. He is now King after his grandfather had been killed in a bombing meant to kill him, his uncle was behind it all and he too, is on the run. To think that Sirens finally showed their face in Ravena after centuries of stories about them, I will meet King Squahi in due time, heard he was a great fellow. Max, however, escaped and they were still looking for him, my men helped Michael out and sometimes went on missions when it was called for. Drax Twins are finally mated to Alpha Andrew's long lost daughter who was married to Omri when they lived in Rogueland, so a complicated bunch but who is me to judge when I constantly hide my daughter and granddaughter from my mates and close friends? Lauren deserved so much better from me and yet, I can't find the time to come clean, maybe I was scared to show that vulnerability.

I was seen as cold and uncaring, what happens when that side of me is looked at differently? I know it would please her that everyone knows that she is my daughter, I know she wants to feel normal, and she watches her biological brother from afar, I know Eli would protect her if he knew and yet, I was scared, so scared. Thinking of Rogueland, Emerelda's former mates are mated and it was shocking for everyone, I wished I was there to see King Geoff's face when he realized he was mated to Jerrod. Drax made sure we all knew, such a gossiper but it was funny, especially after living your whole life as straight. The boys were having all types of problems and although I didn't know much, I knew something was brewing. I felt my mother behind me and I turned to her, she was ready to bring Amara home.

Two Weeks Later

The time had come for Ty and Sheila's wedding, no one expected that she would be his mate after everything that went down over the years. Marie and Jasper were attending with me and we headed out on my private jet to Faeora, where we were having our annual leaders' convention, so it was business mixed with pleasure and everyone who was everyone was in attendance. Dominic was in attendance and I was surprised he left the Iron Mountain in Dragomare to show himself, his brother always showed up in his absence. Allan was crazy and dependable when the occasion arose, he was the baby of the family and Dominic had spoiled him since their father's death years ago, Allan was around five when he died so Dominic raised him. We reached the hotel a day before the wedding and we settled in, Jasper and Marie decided to head to the pool and I decided to meet up with an old friend. Igor and I go way back, we had a history and yes, he was a former lover, he was also dependable and what I needed to help find a cure for my daughter. Igor had connections in Dragonmare and although I could ask Dominic for help, I wasn't ready to let anyone know about her as yet. Igor knew when to go to see if anyone knew of ancient poisons among the druids, they would have an antidote and get back to me. I hoped this wasn't a witch's doings and I feared that this was the case, it was one of the reasons Marion went to the Underworld, a lot of dark witches ended up there. We were working around the clock and as time went on, I was losing hope but I would not give up.

The Wedding

Every went well and we were all having a blast, Marie had run off to be with Lily and the other ladies and I was holding Jasper's hand. Jasper kissed my ear taking me out of my deep thoughts, my mind was plagued by so many thoughts lately and I felt weighted down, he whispered, "Tell me what's on your mind, my love?" I looked at him and smiled, I could feel his love for me throughout our bond, it was so genuine and free, I could feel Marie's love for me as well and I felt incredibly lucky to have both by my side. Eli walked up to our table with a big goofy smile and Jasper never took his eyes off me asking, "What do you want, my dear boy?" Eli smirked saying, "I love seeing my parents so in love," I tilted Jasper's chin a little and planted a kiss on his lips that was so full of love as I felt my d**k jump. Eli said, "Gross," and went to find his mate, that's when we heard the alarm, rogues attacked us.

Everything turned into chaos pretty quickly, the gunfire was going off and the vulnerable were being protected, Michael and his team were on it in a flash as I started to reload my gun. Jasper had both guns in his hands and was taking down rogues quickly before we felt a slight pain looking at each other. Eli mind-linked us, "Mom is down but she is out of here," and Jasper ran back to check on her and I was hit in my side. I felt weak but kept going when Jasper mind-linked me, "Some bullets have vervain, be careful Elijah," and I was about to pass out when Drax got me out of there, healing me in the process. I turned to go check on my mates when I saw a shadow above us to see that a very angry ancient dragon was about to light everything up. I felt a sharp pain and I knew one of my mates was dead and I fell to the ground passing out.

Day of the Convention
