Chapter 12 - Jordan
Of course, I was already waiting for Ria for the weekend, so I wasn't surprised when I saw her in my apartment that Friday night.
However, the distance created between her and Fluffy on the couch, made me suspect that something was going wrong while they acted as two children who have just fought.
"... Well... Can I ask what is going on here?" As soon as I closed the door, I asked them, or better saying... Ria.
"Honestly, you're right, he really is very cute." Sarcastically, she spoke to me before looking at Fluffy. "Too bad he's not just a puppy as you thought, and I don't know how you didn't notice that from his Aura."
"... What do you mean?"
"Jo, he is a Werewolf." She replied, looking back at me while Fluffy just barked to her with an annoyed expression on his face, or at least, it seemed like to me. "Well, actually, a Werewolf pup, but you understand what I mean."
... Well...
I wasn't expecting that.
"So... Am I not going crazy?" Without noticing, I ended up asking the thought that always crossed my mind when the puppy did something unusual in our time together, and it made they two looks at me with a confused expression on their faces. "WHAT!?"
"I just said that he's a Werewolf, and is that your only reaction? Ask me if you're not becoming crazy?"
And as if he agreed with her, Fluffy barked at me, getting up on the couch.
"Well, what did you expect? You are a Vampire, and I grew up closer to a shoal, so being a Werewolf is not a big surprise, despite being a yet a shock." And again, they looked at me confused, not knowing what to do while I believed they were more alike than I thought, even if until now, I thought he was just a dog.
... Who was very smart, and mischievous by the way...
"Okay, then! You're not crazy, but what are you going to do? You can't keep a Werewolf pup like he's just a dog." Bringing me back to the conversation she mentioned, making Fluffy growl before he ran to my side.
"Yeah... I really can't." Despite being a little depressed about losing the pup's company, I knew Ria was right. "... But why didn't he change back after you found out that he is a Werewolf? Wouldn't it be more comfortable now that we know the truth?"
"..." Pretending she didn't hear my question, my friend just fell in silence while Fluffy whined beside me.
"Ria?"
"... He... He can't." Sadly, she answered me. "Pups can only change shape in the presence of their parents, it’s kind of a defense of nature, and as he's too far from them right now... It's impossible at the moment."
"I see..." I knew a few things about the Supernatural World, but not as much as Ria or my mom. "Well... Can't you see in his memories how he got lost or what Pack does he belong to?"
"... This is the exact problem..." The expression on her face wasn't any good as Fluffy continued to whine beside me, making me pick him up, feeling bad for the lost pup. "Normally, Werewolves can communicate even in this shape with anyone by telepathy... Even if they're pups."
"What?" I couldn't understand what she meant with that.
"Jo, this is a lot more complicated than you think."
